If I remember correctly, Carrey has said he doesn't want to be known for his earlier work. And "Unfortunate Events" was/is only one film/film series (depending on if they go on with it). It's not like he's going to go all out on the kid oriented movie track. Besides, Events was released the same year that Eternal Sunshine was released, so it sort of balanced it, though Eternal was a MUCH better performance and movie. I'm still mad that the film didn't win Best Movie and Best Actress and Carrey wasn't nominated for it, and if he was, I'm mad he didn't win.

Yeah, I couldn't believe he wasn't nominated for best Actor much less he wasn't even at the Oscars. The Golden Globes he was.

I think the Truman Show was his best movie. The best one I've seen anyhow. That doesn't mean it's the funniest one though. That prize might go to the Ace Ventura films. Or Dumb and Dumber.

I can understand Carrey's not wanting to be judged entirely by his early work... He made a complete ass of himself, and people ate it up. If he's got an ego, he'll want to be known as more than "that guy who acted like a retard in those stupid comedies".

For the funniest movie I voted the Mask but I really like The Majestic for the best Jim Carrey drama movie.  Basically, Jim Carrey loses his memory and the people in the small town that found him mistake him for a war hero.  It was very touching.

Last night I watched The Cable Guy on sky and I really enjoyed watching it all over again. I haven’t seen that movie for a long time and it was great that it still make me laugh on some parts. My favourite parts from the movie are:

Jim playing Basketball with the others
The whole Medieval Times fighting scene
Jim’s karaoke scene
Porno password.

So do you guys have a fave scene from any Jim movies?

Ace Ventura, that's a classic  :D.

But then I grew out of that kinda comedy - Liar, Liar was fun though, even if I can only remember the 'elevator scene'  :D.

Son of the Mask didn't have Carrey in it. That was Jamie Kennedy. But it's still a great movie. I loved SOTM. It was it's own movie. Had no relation to the original but it was still good. And I love Jamie.

The only reason I liked Bruce Almighty is because Catherine Bell was in it. The Truman Show was undoubtedly his best that I've seen. I've had anyone make me laugh just by coughing and ripping a magazine.

Well I found this in Steve Carell's profile on imdb.com a minute ago.  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0413099/

Yes I know, you can't trust imdb 100% but most of the time they are right.

Anyway the reason why I'm bringing this is up is to discuss sequels to JC movies that don't have him in it. Son of the Mask for example, according to imdb is #40 on the worst movie list. That is really disappointing to me because I thought it was one of the better movies I had seen in a while. NO it did not have Jim Carrey in it, NO it did not need to have a sequel, and YES the CGI effects with the baby were bad, BUT it was a good movie on it's own. I respect Jamie Kennedy for trying to fill in Jim Carrey's shoes for the movie. But he is funny in his own way. That's what made him original. No one can replace Jim, it's not to be done.

Now ever since I saw Bruce Almighty, I was like what? 10? Yeah cause my birthday wasn't till December. And when I saw it I starting thinking, if they made a sequel what would it be about? I came up with a weird-ass concept of Bruce and Grace having a daughter (at least 10) who got God's powers or something like that. I knew my idea wasn't great and it wasn't gonna happen but still. I couldn't help but think if it was possible to do this.

The reason why I'm not sure about this "supposively gonna happen" movie, is because Evan basically got what he wanted at the end of the movie. He got his job back, befriended Bruce sort of, and lived happily ever after. Why would he need God's powers? I know Steve Carell is a funny guy, he really is, but I need a good reason for why this would be acceptable and possible.

I don't know about you guys but that's what I'm thinking.

After the runaway success of "Son of the Mask" and "Dumb and Dumberer," they'd be fools not to capitalize on this one.

Coming in 2007: "The Lawnmower Guy"! After Matthew Brodrick moves away from the crazy city, he attempts to settle down with his fiance in their new home. But the wackiness starts all over again when a mentally-disturbed landscaper worms his way into their lives! Catch it now!

I bet they'll make it, anything to milk some money out of a familiar name, but I'm guessing it doesnt do good at the box office, or with the critics.

I've seen almost every Jim Carrey except Man on the Moon and Cable Guy, yes I saw The Grinch, not a good movie at all.

I voted Ace Ventura because I love that kind of comedy but of the two it has to be the first one  :D

The Truman Show was great though. Jim as The Riddler in Batman Forever was good in my opinion and the Mask was classic sillyness of the best kind. Oh, and... I think you get the idea  :D Jim's just one of my favourite actors  :)

...Wow, anybody can get a fan club these days. Why don't I have one...

Evan Almighty and SotM are both Hollywood wanting to bank on the sucess of Jim Carrey and the sucess of other comedians.

Not that im denying jim careys great comedic talent but apart from the truman show all his more serious roles have been ignored what about the majestic, man on the moon, or eternal sunshine of the spotless mind all great movies with carrer bests from carey. He was definetly over looked for the best actor nomination at last years academy awards.
