Bugs Bunny is the most memorable guy there. And I think not many will remember Spongebob in 50 years.

They're all good in their own way, but Bugs is probably the most memorable, even thou he may not be my fave up there.

Funny you don't have Mickey Mouse on there. Not that I would have voted for that little money-grubbing bastard--I would just consider Mickey to be more in the running than Wolverine.

The first person to post TVGuide's top 50 cartoon characters get a punch in the face courtesy Great Tiger from Mike Tyson's Punch Out.

Anyway, from the list, that wascawy wabbit.

I heard somewhere that Robin was voted the lamest all time superhero beating out such luminaries as She-Hulk.  Good on ya, boy wonder.

Major thumbs up for Bugs.  Cool, calm, collected, looks great in drag.

Sure the others are great, but do they have Bug's stamina? i doubt they shall, plus that bucktoothed sonofabitch still makes me laugh, is there any part he can't play? me'thinks not, god bless you Warner Brothers, why did you have to go pretty white kids with problems? Should've stuck with wascally wabbits and ingenius coyotes.

Forget Bugs, I always liked Daffy Duck better.

I don't know if they're the best ever, but I really like Tom & Jerry.

Spongebob hasn't been on long enough, and plus the fact that the show is intended for kids, so less adults will remember.  Homer has a chance, Cartman will probably be forgotten some day, and let's face it, not many people know about Futurama (even thou to us Bender is memorable) so Bender is out of the game. Bugs has the greatest chance, being known to all audiences and the growing generations still are watching Bugs Bunny.  It's gotta be Bugs, who totally revoulutioned cartoons.

Anyway, out of those options, it have to be Bugs. But I miss Darkwing Duck and Jay Sherman in there.

What's a Square Pants Sponge anyway?

I object to there being no other option, and that all your characters are from the world of cell...my favourite "animated" character of all time would have to be the Penguin from Wallace & Gromit, mainly because of the amount of expression Aardman managed to get from a penguin who doesn't speak.

An average kids TV show, it's nothing special, and design wise certainly not the best ever. Most of the characters listed above have changed animation forever (Bugs Bunny introducing the "standard" toon logic, Fred Flinstone proving that animation can be made on the cheap, Cartman proving you can make it even cheaper etc.), but definately not Spongebob Squarepants...

Well, Spongebob has only been on for two seasons and a half. (They're in middle of a movie).  And, actually, its animation can be very good.  Watch "Spongebob, Sandy and The Worm" when they're being chased.  Very good animation there.  IMO, its a very funny show, but too overrated.  Too many people judge it before they watch it.

I have to say Eric Cartman as the best singular cartoon character. really what would Bugs Bunny be without Elmar Fudd or Yosimaty Sam. Eric Cartman is funny because he is a hateful little evil bastard.

I do like Spongebob, I think it's wittingly funny.  It's just people judge it before they see it; as a stupid show with a ridiculos sponge.  Until I actually watched an ep, I thought it looked extremely stupid but it's really a witty, funny and rather well written cartoon.  Not with good plots like Futurama, but it keeps me laughing.  Used to be my fav show.  I used to be like a Spongebob freak, still am a little.  Great show, at least it was.  Latest eps suck.  My  fav ep is "I'm With Stupid".  Great stuff!

Homer Simpson
Bender
and Spongebob Squarepants (by the way it's not overated, it deserves all the aclaim it gets, maybe even more so)

Bender's the best character we have on Futurama? This is an outrage. I'll remember Zoidberg more than I'll remember Bender.
Then again I'll remember Scruffy more than I'll remember Bender.

EDIT: Oops! I just released I've probably just really offended Bender. (See A Pharoah To Remember!)

Daffy Duck.  Much as I love Bugs, Daffy's in [retty much all of my favourite Looney Tunes.  And Duck Amuck is THE single greatest animated film ever.

Pure brilliance.

I voted for Bugs Bunny, but consider the vote a general one for WB cartoons.  Bugs, Daffy Duck, Wile E. Coyote, all classics.  :)

Still, Spongebob ,may be classic in twenty years, plus the fact that it's intended to kids.  Most adults think it's too ridiculos to watch while many jokes are for adults.  It's just too young.  Still a very great show.

im revolted that no one except me has voted Peter Griffin, come on, he's genius, i mean have you actually SEEN the family guy? best show ever! no contest!, although i was tied up between Peter, Bender and Homer...tough choice...

Peter Griffin doesn't feel like a real character, he's just a mix of Homer Simpson and Cartman. I know lots of people who like Family Guy like Futurama, but sorry it's not in the same league. I'm not saying Family Guy is a bad show, it's just not as clever as it thinks it is.

I am a preety big spongebob fan myself....i know what you mean...the latest eps have been real stupid and unfunny (if thats a word) I love im with stupid :)!!! Anything with a lot of patrick is the best!!! One of the new ones with the seahorse(dont know the name of the ep) is preety good....i love the part when spongebob says 'don't worry..patrick is building a barn for you right now, mystery" (or soemthing like that) and then you see patrick sitting  and starring vaccantley at nothing with a board nailed to his head :laff:

I think patrick really puts the show togther....."MY NAME IS NOT RICK!!!!!!!" :laff:

Hell yeah, he's the best!!!  I'm With Stupid has some of the best comedy right next to Futurama!  And yes, the latest eps are bad, like the one with flying, except the part where he's like "Joe Mamma?"  Funny!
