Zim was pretty cool. I used to watch it in the mornings during some holiday (forget which one). Favourite episode which I saw was the germ one. His robot pet thing was so cool!!!

After my birthday (I'm hoping I get a sufficient amount of money) and after I possibly buy The Beavis and Butt-head Complete 6 Volume Set and reserve Halo 2 and possibly buy Halo, I'll definitely consider getting the DVDs.

I love the cartoon Invader Zim but I do agree that this is really an adult cartoon and not a children's one and that is why Nickelodeon cancelled it. I sure hope Nickelodeon sells Invader Zim to Cartoon Network for it to be added to the Adult Swim lineup with new episodes.

I only discovered Invader Zim 2 weeks ago, thanks to StuartB. Now I'm really annoyed that the DVD's aren't coming out in the UK. Sooo I'm getting them off e-bay  :)

Won't happen. Nick would NEVER EVER sell the rights to Zim,as they are still mad about Disney getting Doug. Plus, Jhonen is no longer interested in Zim.

Just wondering. Since the Zim action figures just came out, is anyone planning to get them? Psycho Dog Toys just shipped my complete wave one set and I managed to get the Dib, Zim and Gir variants from Hot Topic before they sold out. Hooray!

How much are the DVDs?

And another question. Is the pilot episode the one where it starts out in space, and the Tall Aliens are talking about Operation Impending Doom II, and that Zim comes to the Irken Armada in his little ship, and barges into the assembly?

And Billy West did the voice? Damn, that voice and the voice in the new ones sound very similar.

So if it was Billy West, why did he do only one show? And did he also do the voice of Daggett from 'The Angry Beavers'? (Zim and Daggett sound almost alike.)

And finally, who did the voice of Zim for the rest of the episodes?

(GIR was the best character.)

Alright, let's go through this step by step...
The DVDs range from $15-$20 each and there are three volumes. But if you haven't bought them, then I'd suggest you hold out until spring of 2005, where all three volumes and two bonus discs will be released in a lovely box set designed to look like Zim's house.
Now onto the pilot. Before the show was even made, a short 11-minute-or-so pilot was made that looked a little more sketchy in manic, or in other words, a lot more like Jhonen's drawings. But, in this pilot, Billy West did the voice for Zim. This thing never aired.
So then, Nick agrees to order Zim as a show. But Jhonen didn't want Billy to do the voice, as he was already on another science-fictiony cartoon show (I'll give you a cookie if you guess what show that was). So, he got Richard Horvitz to do the voice, who was also the voice of Daggett in Angry Beavers. Horvitz did Zim's voice for the entire series, and the episode you're referring to is indeed the actual show's pilot, not the original pilot.
[gasps for air, then passes out]

A Suncoast near me had all the figures when I was in there a few weeks ago.  They're very cool looking as I would expect from Palisades.  I would like to get them, but I'm forcing myself not to since once I buy one, I won't stop.  I don't have the spare money to get them at this time so I'm going to try to resist.

Well, this is pretty old news, but it hasn't been posted in this thread. Pics of the Zim figures, obviously...

I've recently become a fan of Jhonenen Vasquez's style. I saw a poster that airbagfailure posted in the Cribs thread over in offtopic and it was of Johnny The Homicidal Maniac. After asking what it was and taking a strong liking to it, I decided to buy "JTHM: The Directors Cut book".

I just love his style. I'm not an artist or anything, and I'm extremely fussy about what I like and dont like when it comes to this sort of thing, but I've taken a real liking to his work  :)

RWaM doesn't say anything about it. It's not on in the US anymore either unless you get the overpriced Nicktoons Channel (which shows it occasionally, in between 500 showings of Spongebob Squarepants).

By the way, does anyone know what's on the "bonus disc" of the DVD box set? I already have all three volumes and would hate to be missing out on something great.

Don't worry Leelaholic. Acording to amazon, they are giving people a choice. For those who don't have the series, they get a big box set with the bonus disc and a figurine(I believe it's the robot bee from the Tak episode), for those who have all three volumes already, they get just the box, the bonus disc, and the figurine. "Everybody Wins!"

One question, I heard that the DVD company accedentally encoded the cut version of "The Most Horrible X-Mas Ever", I have seen the episode that is supposidly cut. Can anyone tell me the diffrence between the two?

Okay. Thanks, spacepilot. According to Room With a Moose, the figure is going to be a repainted GIR. (But the robot bee comes with the Zim figure, so rest assured that it will be available)

I'm not sure what the difference is, but yes. Media Blasters did put the cut version on the DVD. But there is a possibility that the uncut version will be released on one of the upcoming DVD mini-disks.

A little off-topic, but I just spent some of my Christmas money ordering JTHM: Director's Cut from Amazon. And I saved $10 by ordering it with Squee's Wonderful Big Giant Book of Unspeakable Horrors.   :D

HUGE BUMP

Some more news on the box, from tvshowsondvd.com...

Quote
Back in October '04 we reported (near the bottom) that the Invader Zim - Volume 3: Horrible Holiday Cheer did NOT have the uncut version of the Christmas Episode, "The Most Horrible Christmas Ever"...despite a mention on the back of the release's box that it did. The folks at Media Blasters wanted to make it right with the fans, though, and started exploring various ways to do that. One thought was to put the uncut episode onto a separate 3" Mini-DVD, and they worked with a fansite to set up a poll asking for feedback about that idea.

We reported on the poll in a November news story, and fans who voted there overwhelming said they would buy such a disc. However, fan feedback in other forums (including e-mails sent here to TVShowsOnDVD) suggested a better course of action: that the studio should simply include the uncut Christmas episode in the "extras" disc being planned for release in January to accompany the "Zim house" box set. We never officially heard whether or not that was taken up as the plan or not, but by Christmas Eve 2004 we were posting news that the Invader Zim "House with Toy & Bonus Disc" releases were delayed from the first part of January all the way to April 12th.

We had our suspicions at that time, but in the past week we've gotten e-mails from readers (Dominick Roman and Raymond Delgadillo among the first of them) who report that many online retailers are showing a new list of bonus features for that release. Among them are the Uncut Christmas Episode. They are almost word-for-word identical, right down to the incorrect spelling of robot "GIR" as "Grrr" (must have been typed up by someone unfamiliar with the show!). Here's the list, with a corrected spelling:

* Contains a GIR figurine
* Extras Disc, with approximately 200 minutes of extras, including:
o 70 minutes of the best of soundtracks from the series, as selected by the composer
o Interview with Kevin Manthei, the composer
o Making of the audio (shows how music is added to the video)
o 8 unfinished episodes (music and voiceover)
o The uncut version of the Christmas Episode
And this is just my personal speculation, but I'm pretty positive that four of the eight unfinished episode readings on the disk are going to be...

"Simon Says Doom"
"Nubs of Doom"
"Return of Keef"
"Mopiness of Doom"

These are the ones that are confirmed to have recordings by the cast. I don't know what the other four will be. If they include "Top of the Line", this disk will be well worth the price.

Well today, I managed to aquire a few episodes of Invader Zim. The first 2 episodes, and the Halloween special, and I gotta say, I'm liking this show a lot. I'm a fan of Vasquez's stuff, so decided to give it a try, and it looks like my pattern for liking his stuff is continuing.

And GIR is just the cutest little thing  :)

I would be intersted in getting the DVDs if they did it in region 2, but thus far, all I can see are region 1. But a cool show none the less. I hope to see more eps of it in the future  :)

I believe they will sell this box set in two versions, one with the season disks and the extra disk, and one with just the box and the extra disk.
Check Amazon to be certain, but I think both will be available.

I'm not sure which to buy myself.  I bought the Season 1 disk last year when it came out, but I haven't gotten around to buying the other two.  I have to check if it would be cheaper at this point just to buy the box set with the disks.

My box set came today!

It's awesome times infinity. I'm loving the unmade episode audios (I've read the scripts, but this is still great), and just when I thought "The Most Horrible Christams Ever" couldn't get any better, they made it better! Not only are there more scenes, but they've edited some existing ones to make them even more great.

The GIR figure was a nice touch, too. Very cool.

Bumped again

This weekend on the nick chanel is a Zim weekend.  All Zim, for two straight days.  Don't miss, well more than a third of it.

I just watched the Tak episode, and I realized that the last shot was a setup to Invader Dib

All the more reason I weep at the cancelling of this breakthrough show.

Two questions, the first for Pitt, the second as a discussion:
1. Which "Nick"? Nicktoons, Nick US, Nick UK?
2. Does this mean that Nick might actually be debating on getting the show back?

I'm going to go find the Zim Box Set, since my DVDs 1+2 didn't include disc 2, I don't have DVDs 3+4, and I want to see the special features. Now to find somewhere that would sell it...

I'm thinking of completing my 'Invader Zim' collection, but I'm kind of confused about a few things.

I have Volume 3 already, and will get Volumes 1 & 2 eventually. Since I'll already have the three volumes, I'm most likely going to get the Zim's House Package with the extras. My question is this: "If I buy it, are the 2 mini discs included?" (I was looking at amazon.com, and saw there were two mini-discs.) "If not, do I have to buy them separately? Oh yeah, and are these the only 'Invader Zim' DVDs out there so far?

Since I only have Volume 3, this is my favorite scene so far: <In something called "Mortos The Soul Stealer", Dib calls out to Zim, and Zim can't hear him, and says 'what' all the time. Then Zim tells Gir to attack Dib (or Zim says something along those lines), and Gir throws a sandwhich in Dib's face. Then Gir says something like 'I had a sandwhich in my head' in that funny voice of his.>

My favorite episode so far is the one with Tak.

Oh well, enough for now.

I just got the house set, and I have to say it's pretty cool. (I just don't know where to put it!) The GIR toy is pretty cool, but it would've been better if there had been a ZIM toy too.
I just need Volume 1, and my 'Invader ZIM' collection will be complete.
