Which one of them is the dog? I'll vote for him, as he was the only funny character in the few eps I've seen.

I like Brian a lot of great dialogue and like someone said before he always says what we are thinking.

Peter: I'd call him the quintessential TV dad, but, like all the elements of "Family Guy", what should be quintessential has been made ludicruos.
Lois: I don't know if this is healthy, but I think I'm secretly falling in love with her. Like most TV moms, Lois normally plays the set-up man on the show for Peter.
Stewie: Like Peter, the cookie-cutter image of a standard TV character (the precocious baby) is blown hilariously out of proportion. Before I really started watching the show, Stewie was my least favorite character. Now he's moved up to a position of general indifference.
Meg: There's always seems to be a straight-man in a comedey routine and Meg plays it in "Family Guy". This role is normally funny because it contrasts with the wacky characters. "Family Guy" has expanded and manipulated that contrast into a hilarious obscurity.
Chris: I keep trying to convince my family that Chris is actually the second child in the Griffin household, but they won't listen. He serves the purpose of demonstrating how parents like Peter and Lois...well, parent.
Brian: I think Seth MacFarlane actually mentioned that Brian represents himself in the series (and when I first started watching the series I knew that MacFarlane's speaking voice would either be Brian's or Peter's, and Peter's was just to ridiculous to be natural). Brian also represents the sarcastic hecklers of other TV shows. Brian points out the flaws in crazy schemes and adds an oft-ignored voice of reason to completely unrealistic scenarios. For this reason, I think Brian would be a "Family Guy"-fan's favorite character, while a more obviously funny character (like Stewie, for example) would appeal more to the casual observer.
Peter: ...I read about something like this in a book. Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?
