Orange people. Joey is occasionally funny.

I was watching Fawlty towers DVD extras the other day, and John Cleese was talking about how they recorded it, at the pace of the home audience instead of the studio audience, so there's much less material in shows like Friends with laughter tracks because they have to wait for the laughter to subside before moving on.
There's some really great examples when this happens in Friends, they just stand there making stupid gestures, god it's terrible.

At the start, it was OK. Then it gradually got more annoying, so I stopped watching it.

When we got to go home earlier, we had to watch Friends. Nobody watched it! And the fact it was season 2 but Friends isn't all that!  :D

I think they made a couple of seasons too many.  I really like the earlier seasons, but the latest ones aren't up to much.

I like Friends, watch it whenever it's on. Although it probably has 'jumped the shark', but I'm not sure.

I always think they should have called it a day at the end of season 6. If I'm not mistaken that was when their contracts ran out and new ones weren't signed until after TOW The Proposal had been filmed so everyone thought that was the end and had to come up with completely new storylines and it failed and turned into the mess that was TOW Monica's Thunder. Season seven was just plain awful, season eight was pretty bearable I suppose. I'll have to see about nine.

Friends should maybe merge with Buffy, that'd make a good show. Rachel the Vampire Slayer anyone?

The first seasons were good, I enjoyed those. But I agree with Smitty, they should've stopped after Chandler proposed to Monica. Maybe make a wedding episode, but then call it a day. I haven't seen any episodes after season 6, and I actually saw very few of season 6.

Season 7 is what I've got up to on the tapes I have.  I've been watching since, but I cannot stand how the characters are now.  Monica makes me want to throw a brick at the TV.

Have you ever noticed how all the little traits they used to have (Like Monica the clean freak, Chandler the funnyman and Ross the geek) have now completely taken over the characters and turned them into cartoons?

Indeed, what was once a small part of their characters has become the only part of their characters.

I suppose it will finally be put to bed when the inevitable Joey/Phoebe relationship is done.  They should never have married any of them.

My sister has started to collect all the series on DVD. Reading today that it will most likely end on season 10 and that Monica and Chandler will probably have a baby.

Series 6 and 7 were really horrible for the reason Smitty described. It's started to pick up again a little recently, but it is clear they are running out of stuff to do. Joey and Pheobe will get together soon, I mean they are perfect. He likes hot girls, and they're both mad.

Judging from the title, Lee would like to see a M.A.S.H. - Friends crossover.

Hawkeye: "Looks like we 'll have to amputate Bing's private part..I mean part of private Bing's leg"
Crowd: *laughs*
Priv. Bing: "NOOOO"
Crowd:*laughs*

Director,  behind the scenes: "That 's it I quit. If anyone needs me, I 'll be hanging in my livingroom."

Meh I never really got into, I always thought it was kinda gay, I used to hate it when almost everyone loved it it was like some wierd cult where one by one my friends would be assimilated by it.
Its crap these days, in its prime it was meh but never deserved all the hype it got

It used to be funny. Nowadays I only watch for the "Joey Moments"

Interviewer: "... and what do you have to say to your huge gay fanbase?"
Joey: " I dunno... I don't even know any huge gays."

It's "Wow, I don't even know any huge gay people"

Get it right!

I agree though Joey is now the only remaining character who remains his original thing. Ross is at least a hell of a lot less annoying than in Seasons 6 and 7. God, even if Rachel was THAT drunk, WHAT was she thinking?!! I mainly watch because all the girls are hot. Especially Pheobe.

TBH, I hate the show nowadays. It's gotten waaay too soap-opera like, and as people have pointed out, the characters have become one-dimensional characters of themselves (sort of like some people think of a certain yellow-skinned family  ;)).

Seasons 1-3 were good, IMHO. The laugh track has to be one of the most annoying things ever invented, and personally I think they should be banned under the Convention of Human Rights.

BTW, did you know that first runs of M*A*S*H in the UK on the BBC had the laugh-track removed explicitly?

I used to watch it when it was after "Seinfeld", but since then, I haven't cared less to watch it. I do agree on the 'it's gone on too long' line, but I haven't watched it in so long I don't know where it should have ended. I think the last thing I saw was Ross marrying Rachael the first time...or proposing to her...or something like that.

I saw the latest UK one, the one with the "Hot Nanny", I knew I recognised her, Melissa George -the aussie actress who used to be in Home And Away.

But, man, is she HOT!

Doesn't everyone?

Friends might be okay if no other TV shows existed but when you compare it to the Greatest Sitcom Ever™ (Seinfeld), Friends is just left wallowing in its own smug self-righteousness.

Why won't Ross take an overdose or something, then Rachel can lie by his bedisde while he's in a coma and realise how much she loves him. Or why can't both Ross and Joey come out as gay... I mean, come on, imagine that laughs.
