CN is taking off Home Movies for crappy Family Guy?  Oh well, I'll be able to tune into some late night talk shows at 11:30 instead.

Guitarmageddon was a good ep. Mostly because of music being one of the good points of this show. also we got some comedy from Walter and Perry. one thing that bugs me from this point on is they begin to toss unnecessary profanity into the show.

(the band is playing Freakie Outie)
McGuirk: STOP!! STOP!!! STOOOOP!!!!
Brendon: How was it?
McGuirk: J***s!! What the f***?!

even Jason begins to swear a little.

Yeah, what's the deal with that? It's ok when McGuirk does it, because that's in character. But it seemed weird to hear Jason call Melissa a bitch. What is this, South Park?

They are both voiced by H. Jon Benjamin, though. Maybe he was just in a profane mood that day.

Ifv, you don't need to use the little "***"'s.  Is that supposed to be a substitute for using profanity?  Why not just say the real thing?  We know what you mean.  Not like it's gonna offend anyone less! :P

And I liked tonight's episode!  I don't know what it was called 'cos I didn't bother checking my TV guide... but it was on right after the "Time Keeps on Slipping" episode of Futurama.

but if i actually wrote out "Jesus!! What the fuck?!" people might reply saying "McGuirk actually said that? When?" when really Cartoon Network bleeped out "Jesus" and "fuck."

So, there's a new ep tonight: "Psycho-Delicate." If it's as good as the rest of the season has been, We're looking at a gooood show.

EDIT: Wow, I bumped a year-old thread.

Starboy and the Captain of outer space is my favourite. Surley A Sci fi musical is all this world really needs.

I'm not too sure on all the seasons that have been shown in The U.K The wedding episode seemed to be the last one shown, is that the end of series 3.

I think the best part of the new shows (aside from the hilarious shows) are these HILARIOUS promo spots.  Mechano-scat Brendon is the boom!

T-minus 10 to new episode.

also...I have creted an homage to both my love of home movies, and Anime.  (My first AMV since thousand year life)

Pitt, I can't get to that site for some reason. I probably have to fix some stuff with Norton (god I wish I never installed their software).

So, yeah, Psycho-Delicate. I don't think there was one scene where I didn't laugh my butt off by the end. Even Jason's response to the guy swearing ("Did he just say..." ) made me laugh. The only bad part of this ep for me is the fact that they didn't end it. I mean, did the guy ever crack? Wha happened? Anyway, despite the lack of an ending, this ep was second only to Camp for this season, IMO.

I love Home Movies.  This new season has been great so far, I am so glad it's back on.  If I'm not mistaken though, I think I remember the earlier seasons being done in "squigglevision", like Dr. Katz, which I miss as well.  Am I wrong or was it always sans squiggle?

Welcome to PEEL, gordonsh... gortonfiskus... Josh. The first season was Squigglevision, but Cartoon Network preferred to use Flash, since it's cheaper.

I have to admit I preferred Squigglevision. Flash is a bit too clean-cut for me.

A favourite part of mine was when Jason was pitching jokes for the Barbarian play in "Law And Boarders" and he went on a long string of "axe" jokes. "Let me axe you a question!" "What kind of question do you wanna axe me?" "There are many questions I wanna axe." "Well axe away!" etc. etc.

Ditto the "Why are you being so barbaric?" string.  :laff:

That reminds me. I love the "horrible" jazz musical that Brendon and Jason did. For whatever reason, I found that episode (and when they go on hiatus) to be incredibly funny.

Personally, I don't feel that the promos they use do justice to the show.  Some of them get a laugh out of me and are better than others, but I think the show definitely has more comedy in it.  If all I saw of Home Movies were the commercials, I might not have even have had enough interest in it to watch it.  I was a long time fan of Dr. Katz though, and most Squigglevision productions with H. Jon Benjamin, so that's basically how I got into it.  Love it now.

What did you think of the new episode, "Curses". I thought it was really good, though such profanity seemed out of character for them. I was laughing constantly, especially when McGuirk did his journal reading for the class. Also, when the two kids with the high pitched voices (Their names escape me at the moment) were swearing and throwing money into their curse can.

Curses:

The good: McGurick applied his panache for being intollerably obtuse to maximum efficacy here, at least during the Journal writing bit.  Ever since Brendon saw her naked I find it tantilizing when they bring back Mrs. Mulley, but to have her come to brendon's house...Oh my.  Erik is given some real cream of the crop lines in this episode, and it's always fun to see McGurick and Him playing off eachother.  Having been in Dr. Katz together, H. John Benjamin and Katz have a perfect chemistry.

The Bad:  They didn't do enough with the Melissa moves in with Brendon plot, all we got was a three scene montage, elaboration would have been nice.  There was too much swearing.  I know it would be nice to be South Park, but there's only one South Park, so let it be.  I especially found this element upsetting because it really hindered Melissa the most.  Up till now she had a perfect super-sweet girl with a tart center thing going on ("I don't know if you ever noticed this Brendon, but he is really a pain in the ass." ), this episode really buckled that element to terminal wither her guttermouth wierd science rip-off.  I think all the characters were detrimented by this factor in this episode, but Melissa more than the rest.  Write a better script, (kid) Brendon.

The ugly: OK, will all cartoon directors please take note:  When there is a beep in the middle of a sentance it is NOT repeat NOT funny.  It worked a couple of times for an already mentioned animated show, but the trend is now as annoying as Jerry Springer re-runs.  Give us plot, dialogue, one liners and zings, the beeps we can do without.  There is something about dressing an 8-year old girl up as a sex symbol that I find deeply disturbing.  I'll admit that in "storm warnings" the effect was well-played for some genuine laughs, but here I think it goes WAY over the top (Pun not intended...until now).  I like it when Melissa gets to play a heartless bitch, a bubble-headed housewife, A bazooka momma or a talented doctor, but please shy from the Bittney spears Uber-slut.  Come on, she's EIGHT!

Ew. No.  I'm talking character bastardization here.  Also the fact I find it not attractive.  More of repulsive.  If you really want to turn my stomach show me what parents do to their children in little-girl-beauty pagents, like what they were forceing that Ramsey kid to do.  I think it's sick.

I am agreeing with Pitt. Making Melissa sexy is just weird, and the show has been using bleeped-out curse words as a crutch for way too long.

If they hadn't started the whole "little kids cursing" stuff in previous episodes, I could accept all the cursing in this episode as a story element.

Still, the episode was really funny. Last week's episode rocked too. I thought the season started out kinda weak, but they are on a roll now. I hope they can keep it up for the rest of the season(how many episodes are left?).

P.S. I didn't like the Starboy episode. Brendon's movies are great, but I can only take so much at a time.
