Does anyone thing that the simpsons are getting lamer and lamer. It seems there running out of ideas. They are not near as good as the previous seasons. They're just getting more pointless topics and filling them with as many guest starts as possible. And someone die hard simpson fans will probably disagree, but... accept the fact they need to finish, with the little dignity they have.  :nono:

They've got a lot of good ideas running around but the way they show up on screen is just awful!

Burn them!

The Simpson's are getting old and Knackery. If it keeps on going the same result of interest would be just like Episode 1 of Star Wars.Send the Old Horse to the Knackers.

I beg you not to ask that question!

Yes The Simpsons suck. They used to be witty and clever (well for an animated series anyway!) and great to watch. But the newest episodes are just jokefests, which is nothing bad really, just that the jokes just aren't funny any more. There still is the occasional gem, but they are few and far between.

Oh god, I'm far too tired to be coming out with rants like that.

What made the old episodes great was how many little jokes they always added. Remember when they used to make fun of Betamax all the time? I miss those little things!

The Simpsons have diverged from making fun of family values and the dysfunctional family. All the stuff that happens in the episodes now seems outlandish. What happened to the episodes where everyday things like mini-golf competitions and grade school crushes are satirized? I don't think The Simpsons don't know the meaning of 'satire' anymore.

The Simpsons is getting more and more stale with every season that passes. I agree, it needs to stop before it becomes a parody of itself. They'll probably carry on for a few more seasons regardless, but I just wish they'd compress all those good ideas though a sifter and leave all the lumpy crap. That probably equals up to about one more season tops.

IMO the last *classic* episode was 'Trilogy of Error'  :)

Some of the worst episodes I 've seen:
The one where Bart and Milhouse take over the comic book store, the one with Venus and Vanessa Williams, and the Halloween one with the Dolphins taking over the world.

Name one other animated show with 14 years of continous popularity and fanbase.
Simpsons is King but you can only do so many ideas before you run out.
The new episodes still make me laugh though and I hate the way people say "Oh, give it a rest, enough already!" just because some episodes aren't as funny as the earlier ones:
What do you bloody expect!?! A show that's funny for ever? It's not gonna happen. You should be glad Simpsons is there at all, without it, this board wouldn't even be here.

The Simpsons has gone to pot over recent years. The new episodes are just dumb, the jokes are contrived and it just doesn't flow any more.
The Simpsons is a great show the old episodes ae great I just wish they would stop make new shite an tarnishing such a great show.

Recent Simpsons episodes just aren't as good. I think Season 15 may be the last one, as that is when the voice actor's contracts run out....I think. And plus there are too many celebrities going on it!

I disagree. Of course, the best thing to do would have been to end after season two or three... but the cash cow needs milking.

Stop now and start making feature films! I think it's too late for that now.

^^^I think they should have carried on until season 9 then ended it. It was showing signs of flopping in season 8. 9 did have a bunch of great episodes but it was also the start of the hurt-Homer-every-episode age.

Season 10 still had some pretty funny episodes in it as well. "They Saved Lisa's Brain" is one of my all time favorites, plus "Viva Ned Flanders" is much better now that I see it in syndication.

And you watch Futurama WHY?

The Simpsons lost the plot at about the same time Futurama started.  So Futurama gets axed.

Ok, good point, but i think that Simpsons has had its run. It's better for a show to die with some dignity, not to be squeezed dry.

Yeah the Simpsons should of ended on a high about three seasons ago. If they just stop right now, they can still bow out with some dignity. Currently it's about as funny as Robbin Williams.

i'll take bender giving birth to beer over marge getting breast implants any day

but really, like this hasn't been said before.. simpsons seasons 2-8 were great, but then they started to go downhill, with the occasional good episode. i think that seven consistently good seasons is a pretty good effort though.

You watch a new one and think... what was funny about that? Then you go back and remember one or two lines, usually gags that have nothing to do with the plot, and thats it.

You know, it's futurama's fault the simpsons suck today.  Around season 9 / 10, the simpsons started going downhill, which is when Matt Groening left to start Futurama.  He has almost no say in anything that is done on the Simpsons.  That's why Futurama rules, cause he has so much say so in the show.  Futurama is/was his baby, much like the Simpsons were.

You can almost tell when Matt G does infact help a new episode of the Simpsons.  Cause it doesn't suck that much and jokes go flawless.  The writing staff on the Simpsons just plain suck now.  They don't realize what they're doing is lame.  They think "it's funny like family guy is funny".

Ok...... cool thanks for you input. I probably agree with most of you (like in my first message) I think there getting lame. But it will be really sad to see them go. It seems that Matt Groening, is paying more attention to futurama but kept simpsons for the money, making merchandise, and stuff.

I lost complete interest when Homer had his mid-life crisis & began trying new occupations in every EP.

& they lessened Bart's role immensely & he was the only tolerable main character besides Homer.
