I have watched Eastenders for about 7 years now, but I don't watch it as often. Every other line seems to be "What's going on?"  :laff:

I dont really watch any soaps, but my mum and sister usually do. I remember when they showed a really lame soap on TV called "sunset beach" it was one of those shows that were so lame it was hilairous to watch.   :laff:

Although I hate to admit it, I watch Neighbours. I've watched it for over a decade, ever since the 8O's when Kylie Minouge was in it. I've grown up with it because my mum likes it, and I guess I watch it out of habit   :)

TV soaps are to hispanics as movies are to Indians. We make TONS of them. In fact, most of the spanish networks' original fiction is nothing but soap operas. They have this show called "The Clone" where it's about the exotic Arab world and cloning, but never seened it. Sounds kinda crazy though.

I think soaps are fun. I hate them because they take time which could rather be used for showing football games, but they're fun none the less.
Like Passions or Sunset Beach... I laugh and laugh... the acting is horrible and the storyline is so stupid, it reminds me of a Norwegian soap where the producers managed to insert all imaginable social conflicts and issues into 3 families in a timespan of 15 episodes, using a bunch of washed-up actors and kids from high-school. When episode 16 came, they had to include several traits on each new character to separate them from the existing (Let's welcome our new co-worker everybody, he'll be playing a transsexual nazi eskimo)...

When I was a toddler I used to dance along to the theme tune of a Welsh soap called Pobwl Y Cwm..or something like that. My mum used to (and still does) watch it when I was in the womb so I may of heard the beats in there. Or not.

They only show soaps in the daytime/afternoon in America don't they? If so, you're a lucky lucky country. They've invaded (and killed) _primetime_ here!

The only soap I've ever watched was the revamped Crossroads on ITV last year. It was a throughly post-modern, self aware, ironic send up of normal soaps, but unfortunately the parody was so good that people took it seriously. So it got cancelled.

But while it lasted it was the funniest thing on TV, and it ended with a classic final episode, in which...

I wish they would bring it back, five o'clock isn't the same without it. Every other soap ever = crap though.

Man what's wrong with you? An Australian who actually watches one of their homegrown soaps? I thought they were made for our benefit.

We'll ship you back Hollyoaks in return. (Hollyoaks = fit people wearing not much)

I don’t want this thread to die. I am sure that you guys got very interested with the soaps story line and stuff.

Eastenders is going to have a huge story line tonight with it’s one hour special and I am so very looking forward to it. I was wondering if any of you guys have been watching Eastenders and do you think that it’s going to be good tonight?

I hate, hate, hate Eastenders. I usually only watch it if my parents are, and even then its 'comedy value' makes me laugh  :laff:

Coronation Street however is funny but still manages to be somewhat serious.

Soaps would be really fun to watch if they didn't suck at life. At the very least they should try to hire people who can freaking act.

Neighbours sucks now that American lesbian has left. Home And Away is all 'OMG someone is trying to kill us Vinnie' now, so that's all good.

Though I guess that's more a horror/action/detective/noir show with Soap-ish elements....
