I thought that this game was a joke how the Hell is this thing getting released. There was something seriously wrong with Goofy and Anime style characters on screen together. Am I the only one who sees this as very very wrong?

My only question is how did they get Jack Skellington in the game? Disney pulled out of that movie because it would "tarnish" their immage! WTF!

Whoa, that news is like six months ago, man!

According to the articles I read, Jack Skellington is pure Disney property, but they didn't get characters from Toy Story & Monsters Inc. cuz they're owned by Pixar.

Actually, I think the gameplay works very well. This is meant to be a 'lighter' RPG, with all the Disney worlds and Squaresoft cameos like Wakka. I hope you actually played the game, because any Square fan will love its original gameplay.

Jack Skellington? From The Nightmare Before Christmas? In a video game? That sounds cool to me. And tyeah, that movie was released by Touchstone Pictures but it is Disney property because Tim Burton created it while he was working in Disney.

Y'know, the whole "look" of anime (the gig eyes and so forth) was inpired by Disney, so it's really not too big a stretch...

I saw a pic of it a while ago, just never thought they would make it. Also I haven't read a video game magazine or went to a website in years, the commertial caught me off guard.

Kryten, It has Final Fantasy style anime characters mixed with Disney characters, sort of a clash of styles. I am not saying one is better then the other but it just looks ugly.

Which leads to the Old Rule-Crossovers=Bad

Don't make me show you 'The Flintstones Meet The Jetsons' people. Those cartoons were bad enough on there own.

Gamespot gave it an 8.5 and IGN gave it a 9.0, both out of 10, so I don't know how bad of a game it can be.

I think it looks pretty cool although the fightoing system is not the same as other Final Fantasy games (which were turn based)nit could still be good.

But I do trust Square, and it's not like I hate the Disney characters, anyway.  I hate the songs, I hate the cheap money-grubbing that will take a classic movie and direct-to-video sequel it, but I don't hate the characters.  My biggest problem with this game is that two of the characters look like cheap Tidus and Yuna ripoffs.

Which two? The main girl and guy look more like Squall and Garnet IMHO.

OK, so the guy in yellow is less like Tidus than I thought - just the yellow shirt, dark shorts, and black gloves was way too similar to be ignored.  But there is no denying that the girl in white looks almost exactly like a chibi-ish version of Yuna.  If you want photographic evidence I can whip some up real quick.

And by real quick I mean REAL quick.

The clothes are similar.....
But the girl looks really different in FMV....
Ok, I am defeated. She looks kinda like a chibi Yuna ^_^

Well, all Japanese-made characters look kinda the same in FMV. In fact, most of the FF main characters are spiky-haired youths. Still, Kingdon Hearts has a cool mix of styles and cameos that doesn't have that "hastily put-together" look.

I'd like to delve more into the PS1 Final Fantasies, as I don't have the system. The PS1 is $50, so how much would you think Ye Olde Playstation will sell?

I think the reason why I was so disturbed was the fact Jack Skellington was in it, I am scared that he might apear now in the horrible direct to video movies that Disney seems to be putting out constantly.

I honestly have not been a big fan of Square after FF7.

Jack Skellington: Pardon me, is this Chanuka-Land?

Rumor has it Final Fantasy XI will be cancelled for release in the US due to the servers and other technical problems that happened in Japan. The only chance of it coming here is if another big company, maybe EA, decides to help Sony with the online campaign.

I'm very intrigued by Kingdom Hearts.  I saw a commercial for it when my sister was watching Hamtaro in Maui last week.  I was immediately entranced by the mix of styles and the clool J-Pop song playing in the background.  I guess there was a reason behind her snatching the remote when I was watching VH1.  :D
