AIDS!

Definitely my favourite episode of the season so far, and probably just behind Rick Potion No. 9 and Rixty Minutes as my favourite of the entire series. Clever concept, lots of laughs, and just a wonderfully batshit crazy 20 minutes of television in general. :)

"AIDS!"
"What is this, 90s Conan?"
That whole Nintendo 3DS rant. :laff:

That got me good. Like I'm on board with everyone else, easily the BEST EPISODE so far. Whatever happens next week will probably not hold up, that was so funny. Also I'm weirdly shipping Jerry/Sleepy Gary forever now.

Am I the only one who felt this was the weakest of the season?

I mean, I really liked it. Comedy was dead on, and the story was good. But it felt like it had something missing....

Or maybe I just wasn't a fan of what they were trying to do with this particular episode?

Also... Yeah. What the hell was up with the whole Jerry/Sleepy Gary thing?

I still think the season premiere was the best of season 2 so far, but this is easily my 2nd favourite and every episode, so far, has been great, if not phenomenal.

^ I would agree.

However, Get Schwifty was pretty ridiculous and it was weakest episode so far. It had good jokes like the reference "Hey Morty, lick my balls", but it was a bit too crazy and kind of fell flat.

Completely agree about Get Schwifty.
The best thing about the episode was the continuity with Birdperson. I think it may have been weak because the sci-fi concept was so. Something about a reality music game show seemed like it could have been done by any sketch show.

But a reality music game show hosted by giant heads who can destroy planets and transport them to other universes while a cult forms around them? Pure Rick and Morty.

This week's episode seems to be copping a bit of flack online, but I was laughing my ass off the entire way through. Not every episode of Rick and Morty needs to boast a head-fucking science fiction premise, nor does every episode need to have some sort of hard-hitting emotional moment - Get Schwifty episode was absolutely hysterical, and that's more than I can ask of most tv comedies. I'd give it a solid B+ (and at least an A- by almost any other tv show's standards).

It wasn't the strongest episode but it was nowhere near bad. I found the giant heads really interesting, for some reason.

Biggest laughs for me: Jerry complaining about the paper clip in his cheek & one of the giant heads shouting "BOO NOT COOL" after those 2 underwhelming-nukes hit it. :laff:

I also really enjoyed the concept of Morty stealing Rick's portal gun and getting lost in other dimensions, I wish they had done more with that, perhaps even a full plot based around it.

I honestly liked this episode way better than last weeks episode. But I do not think it was as good as the first 3 episodes of this season though.

With that being said, I enjoyed last night's episode quite alot. The B-plot with head religion was hysterical, while the main plot with Rick and Morty was entertaining, to say the least. I do feel that the main highlight of this episode would have to reside in the third act when Morty steals Rick's portal gun and has that talk with bird person. Notice how one of the pictures has Rick holding a baby Morty.... I find that interesting since Rick was supposedly out of his Beth's life for 20 years.

This episode actually felt more reminiscent of an early Season 1 episode, which I found to be a good thing. It shows that the team behind making this show are always willing to go back to their roots every once in a while. But, yeah. Next week's episode actually looks interesting. Can't wait for that one.

That it may be.
I don't know. I guess I just didn't like this episode upon first viewing. It can be due to the overall type of silliness and my dislike of the talent show portion of it. Also the alien design is disturbing to me for some reason.
Though this season has an awesome string of episodes so far. And Keith David returned to voice another character.

Exactly. We don't know which Morty that is. ;)

I can't begin to fathom the negative reaction this one is getting.

It wasn't an incredible bit of sci-fi and it lacked any emotional edge, but, as Beamer said, who cares? They've done way more of that than I need them to to keep me happy. I can live with a wacky episode that's just plain good fun and I thought this one was great, taken on its own terms.

I'd even go so far as to say I enjoyed it more than "Mortynight Run".

After hearing all the buzz about this show I thought I'd give it a go.

Saw the first few episodes on the Adult Swim website. Good stuff. Aliens voiced by David Cross always make things better, unless it's Yivo. :)

Edit: lol at the line about Hitler curing cancer. R&M seems to hit the same notes as Futurama for me: it's not ridiculously hilarious but the stories are very zany and entertaining. I'll definitely do my best at trying to catch up.

...I'll take it back. I've caught up with the show now and it definitely picks up in the funny department from the mid-point of season one onward. I still wouldn't say it's the funniest show ever but it's definitely one of the most entertaining. "Total Rickall" was easily one of the most insanely well-written piece of ridiculous comedy I've seen. Poor PoopyButthole. :(

I think the pilot is quite strong in comparison to most other pilots, but if we're looking at it simply as another episode of Rick and Morty, then it's not a particularly memorable outing. I've seen it a good 5-6 times and the only things that really stick with me are the cold opening and Rick's speech at the end. Don't get me wrong, I still laugh the whole way through, and I certainly wouldn't call it the show's weakest episode (I think that title would likely go to Raising Gazorpazorp, and even that's not a "bad" episode of television by any means), but it just can't compete with most of what followed it.

So I saw the show advertised on FOX here in the UK (along with a tonne of other Adult Swim shows), and it said season 2 starts on the 10th September.

So I checked the guide and it turns out season 1 actually starts in the UK on the 3rd September at 12am! The weird thing is though, they're starting with season 1 episode 2. Can't find the pilot anywhere. Looked further back in the guide and at different timeslots but, still, nothing.

But yeah, they're showing 2 episode a night (almost) every night, leading into season 2. Great news! :)

(Quick sidenote: my guide lists the show as "Ricky and Morty" :nono:)

Last night's episode was.......

Fan-Fucking-Tastic! I personally felt it was the best of the season. Even though it kinda felt like it's been done before (The whole universe in a universe thing reminded me heavily of Lawnmower's Dogs' Inception aspect), but at the same time the whole conflict between Rick and the other guy (I forgot his name) was hysterical.

This episode had everything that makes Rick and Morty great. Superb Humor, Great story, and just overall greatness. It just sucks we gotta wait two weeks for the next episode.... But the preview for that one looks promising as well! Perhaps this is the stronger half of the season?

I really enjoyed last night's episode, though honestly I'd probably consider it one of the weaker ones so far this season. My favorite part by far was the subplot with Summer and the spaceship, which was diabolically hilarious. The main plot didn't do quite so much for me, but there were definitely some great lines sprinkled throughout, mostly from Morty. Stephen Colbert's appearance was fun and Nathan Fielder was a nice surprise.

Go go Sanchez ski-shoes!

Harr, that was good.

I enjoyed this one a little more than the last couple of episodes. The main reason for this is probably that the enslavement of an entire planet for trivial purposes is something of a personal life goal I've had for a while now.

Yeah, it was great and it was funny. I really like the contrast of advancement in society's technology and car battery problem, resulting in having to give up on one's integrity knowing one's world exists purely on someone's trivial benefit. Also the robot's/computer's lack of understanding what's reasonable. You know, all the fun stuff.

"Wait, nevermind, here's a taxi."

I definitely found this episode to be one of the funniest yet. The ship's fucked-up "psychological warfare" was absolutely horrible (and I sincerely mean that in the best possible way). It also reminded me of GLaDOS in the way it delivered some of those passive-aggressive threats.

...It kinda felt like it's been done before (The whole universe in a universe thing reminded me heavily of Lawnmower's Dogs' Inception aspect)...

I thought the same thing. Also, the way they kept re-using dialogue segments upon each tour of the smaller universe, only with the name of the fictional device changing each time to become more ridiculous, felt very much like the phone/couch/pizza runner from season 1.

Having said that, I really enjoyed the episode overall, and was laughing pretty equally at both plots. It really did feel like the quintessential Rick and Morty episode. :) (Though I'm not really sure what that says about Beth and Jerry, given their total absence this week!)
