Kinda. I mean, there's been a small decline the last couple seasons. I'm a little optimistic that the switch up could lead to some fresh ideas.

Decline? I thought the most recent season was the best one yet. Little to no filler episodes, and no terrible episodes whatsoever.

I think the show had a pretty clear peak at around season six and it's been slightly less than that ever since - but it really is only slightly. It's a remarkably consistent show in terms of quality, or at least it has been, and I'd say that the last season was a step up from the couple before it. It felt much more consistent whereas the last two had a few stinkers dotted around.

Other than maybe the first season being understandably weaker than the rest, I really can't pinpoint any specific season as being significantly better of worse than any other (save from the most recent season, which is largely because it's still fresh in my mind). The whole series just kind of blends together into one for me.

TBS American Dad officially premieres October 20th (Mondays 9/8c).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXU6vNsM7cg

Edgier eh? Just gonna assume that's just the TBS advertiser, unless the new episodes are going to take into account having less censorship on cable.

Also here's some promos TBS posted for American Dad.

"We figured if #AmericanDad was going to last another 15 years, we better start taking notes. #EverySimpsonsEver"

There was also an Ice Bucket tweet they made with Stan, with Klaus hopping out of the bucket onto Stan's head, but I can't find it (it was really crappily animated though).

I'm assuming the people who make these promos aren't from the regular animation team, cause if the new episodes look anything like that 2nd picture, ugh.

Also, in random Fox related news, Animation Domination is being renamed Sunday Funday...ech.

Now I feel dirty knowing that the excellent "Sunday Funday" episode of You're the Worst may have been cross promotion.

Oh nice, the new season is starting earlier than I thought. I was thinking there'd be more of a break between the three episodes Fox is airing, two this upcoming Sunday and the other one on the 21st.

As expected, the first two episodes of season 10 or 11 or two of the last three episodes of season 9 or 10, depending on how you look at things - basically, the episodes that just aired - were pretty average fare for the show.

Nothing special but good and I'm glad to have the show back after however many months it's been.

Yeah, it wasn't anything spectacular. A few chuckles throughout, but nothing particularly memorable otherwise.

I was going to say it might explain why Fox wasn't in a rush to air this episode, though that would imply that there's some logic behind their programming decisions.

Didn't they wrap that up in Rapture's Delight? Or is that episode still set in the future, as suggested by Season's Beatings?

Also, holy shit, I didn't realise there were two episodes last week, despite it even being mentioned earlier in the thread. Whoops. The most recent episode was good, though Kim Kardashian was an awful guest star (not like that's a big surprise in any way). I'd say A Boy Named Michael was my favourite out of the three holdovers.

I was surprised all three were Roger episodes. Not that I'm complaining about that.

Agreed that Kardashian was pretty useless as a guest star, any female comedian could have made that role ten times better. Still, it didn't ruin what was a funny episode.

Well, they were all holdovers, so the creators clearly didn't intend for three Roger episodes in a row when they were making them... Not that the show ever really airs in perfect order, holdovers or otherwise. Perhaps the new network will correct this?

Wow that season finale sure was crappy.

If you're referring to the most recent episode, it's not a season finale. Season 10 will resume on TBS later this year.

I personally just count the Fox holdovers as part of Season 9, but meh, could be said either way (Wikipedia lists the 3 holdovers as a separate mini Season 10).

Anyway, all 3 of the Roger episodes were alright I guess. Really wished they were spread out over Season 9 instead of just having 3/4 Roger episodes at the very end of the Season, but I didn't really have any major complaints with them, except for maybe some of Stan's increasing stupidity in the first 2 (his Spiderman cheese thing felt very Peterish to me).

First TBS episode has been uploaded on YouTube, and it available to watch outside of the States. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJpuDgUJjhg

That episode felt slightly off... like, the cold-open almost felt as if they'd produced it as a normal episode and just awkwardly re-edited it to stick the opening sequence in partway through. And Seth MacFarlane didn't sound quite right as Stan.

It wasn't bad, but it was just a bit weird.

Still, I like that they put it on YouTube without making it only available to the USA. I hope this is part of some experiment that leads to all television being uploaded to YouTube for the world to see at once. It's nice being able to watch things legally in a way that will help to generate revenue for the people who make them, without having to wait months and months for them to be imported.

The TBS episodes have been really average so far, but "Scents and Sensei-bility" is an outstanding name.

Completely forgot there even was a new episode on TBS this week (hope that doesn't become a problem in the future, rather watch them on airdate than on the internet).

Anyway, Scents was a bit thin plotwise, but had some good jokes in it (the Mortal Kombat announcer kid, the teachers fascination with Jo Biden, "you chose to watch Water with Elephants on a small screen") and was definitely the most enjoyable episode of the fall 2014 episodes so far. Klaus's plot was kind of lame though, funny ending though.

Yeah, I haven't been too impressed with any of this season yet (and I'm including the Fox holdovers as part of this season, because counting them as a separate three episode season is fucking retarded). Scents and Sensei-bility was probably my favourite one so far, though. It had a few big laughs, even if I can't for the life of me remember the actual jokes I laughed at.

None of them have been actively bad episodes yet, but they all just feel somewhat lacking.

I'd probably agree with CIAPOW being the strongest one of the bunch, but as you say, Josh, it was pretty uneven.

Hmm, I was a little disappointed by the Christmas special this year. It was probably the best new episode to air on TBS thus far, but it still wasn't up to the show's usual standard for Christmas specials. :hmpf:

It wasn't as good as the last few specials, but I still liked it a lot. Nothing to complain about.

Honestly, this season hasn't been amazing but it's not the worst the show has put out so far. I think we're just noticing because the last couple seasons were a return to greatness that this one doesn't measure up to.

It was a good episode and definitely the best of the TBS run, so far, but it was also, pretty easily, the weakest Christmas special of the show.

Still, I was happy with it.

Edit: I just remembered that "Minstrel Krampus" was a thing. This one was better than that.

Whaaa? Minstrel Krampus was fantastic! The inanimate object massacre was one of the funniest sequences in the history of the show, in my opinion.

I'd probably say the weakest Christmas episode is For Whom the Sleigh Bell Tolls. It was a bit too one-note for my liking, and didn't really make me laugh that much. :hmpf:

It's good to have this show back.

I recently rewatched the entire series leading into "LGBSteve" and the TBS episodes didn't feel remotely "out of place" so I think I'm over whatever mental hangups I had about them changing a network. "LGBSteve" was a pretty good episode.

I've been rather underwhelmed by the TBS run so far, but I must say, the last two episodes were an excellent return to form for the show. I was laughing pretty much the entire way through both of them. A Star is Reborn in particular had some utterly hilarious Stan moments (though I didn't really care for the Roger sub-plot), and it was great to finally see another Wheels and the Legman episode. Here's hoping they can retain this quality from here on out. :)

I feel like the episodes on TBS have all been decent to pretty good so far, but they're yet to give us any real classics. Still, I don't feel like the show's average quality has dropped particularly.

The last two have certainly been a couple of the better TBS episodes, though.

That was the most batshit insane thing I've seen in quite a while. But it made me laugh a shit-ton (especially when I realised they really weren't going to wrap up Stan and Francine's plot), so I've gotta say, I kinda loved it. :D

Ya, it was actually kind of a relief that they didn't have to resolve the main plot considering there was no acceptable way that Francine was going to forgive Stan this time. It does make me wonder exactly what the writing process for this episode was like, though, and if the non-canonical insanity was come up with on the fly for specifically that reason.

I liked the recent Jeff episode, though it was definitely not as strong as the last few outings of that storyline.

I also thought that "Holy Shit, Jeff's Back!" was great. Like Josh said, it wasn't as good as the previous entries in that arc, but it was still very good. I feel like the TBS episodes have hit a comfortable stride.

Are the usual suspects still keeping up with the recent season? I hadn't brought it up in here at all because I thought most of the beginning of the season was pretty damn weak, with the exception of maybe one or two acceptable episodes. But I thought the recent handful of episodes have been great. Anchorfran, The Two Hundred, and The Unincludeds were all super enjoyable.
