So I'm guessing TNG goes into full swing at some point late in season 2 mid season 3.... I've never watched the entire series before... any comments anyone might like to make.  I always grew up with Riker having a beard, so I'll just throw how strange it is for him to be baby face all the time is. :shifty:

And thank you for discussing the clear gremlinry in this pollerish openly Nixorbo.  I will lay my sword upon the earth today and swear against the four elements and the thirteen houses to find and slay the one responsible for this damnedable demalography.

Keep watching.  Your presumption is correct: TNG gets a lot better after the first season.  It's like watching Roddenberry's craft mature and blossom, though not every ep is memorable and a few are cringe-worthy.

I haven't watched all of TNG.  Maybe I'll pick up the whole enchilada some time.

There's a trope for that!

There's a trope for everything... and MST3k invented all of them... and you're vaguely aware that many of us in this community are aware of both, right?  Are you of the assumption that if we wanted to read random strangers definitions of the meta-conversations they were having the other day that we'd be amused?
* winna tries tricking Xanfor into some nefarious plot by offering him a gift from his past so that he may receive headaches, even though those don't exist in the future, and he can exact his revenge for a battle in the past that our culture considers significant, but he found to be a minor incident and forgot about a very long time ago.

TNG is at it's best at seasons 3-6.
VOY is at it's "best" at seasons 4-5.
DS9 is at it's best most of the times, except times like when "Let he who is without Sin" comes up.
TOS, I haven't really seen much of it. Yeah, I know that it's blasphemy.

On DS9 they're on a space station.  They never go anywhere.  It has that shapeshifter that sneaks into people's bedrooms at night and acts like he has a stick up his b*tt*m-h*l*.  And one of the prominent characters is Ferengui.

Clearly that show's motto is something along the lines of: Space, the Final Frontier (which we will not explore).  These are the Mundane Tales of a space station.  It's Boring Mission, to Stay in one place for no one knows how Long!  To seek out Staying in one place and ignoring new civilizations!  To Boldly stay where many have Stayed before! La la laaa laa laa la la laaa laa laaaaa.

And even so it was quite much better than the rest of the other series.

probably because it was far less screwed up than the other

CommanderZapp that is blasphemy

I am disappointed my Star Trek Encylopedia was written before Seven went on Voyager. It's missing the most influential female character to hit Star Trek imo. It's like if they were to leave out Kirk. It's not their fault...but it still agitates me to no end.

Haha at your DS9 take, winna :laff: It's ok, but it's my fourth least favorite series.

No, the Animated Series isn't. And none of the movies (except the new Abrams one) are either. I imagine they'll get them eventually though.

Hah, I remember that episode. Kirk ripped the big guy's cock off and ran away with it. Guy's left wandering the planet for eons searching for his lost manhood. Meanwhile Kirk nailed it to the wall of the crew rec-room on the Enterprise and everybody good a good laugh out of it... except Sulu, who was strangely mesmerised.

Same here. I would have preferred the film to explore new ground, but if they have to borrow from the past, they're borrowing the best. And I mean, I would have wanted to see Khan eventually so I guess they're getting him out of the way nice and early.

I'm trying to make my way through The Next Generation, but it really isn't doing it for me so far.

Does it pick up drastically after season 1 or something because so far it's mostly all episodes where Patrick Stewart gets possessed or drunk or something and acts a bit unusual whilst re-treading lots of the material already covered by the original series. Also, gone is the simplistic and often comical tone of the original series which I loved it for. I loved that it worked similarly to The Twilight Zone with episodes often serving as little parables.

But yes, I've heard from a few people that it's worth sticking with TNG. What are your thoughts, PEEL?

My understanding is that season 1 is the worst season of TNG.  But I will not say with certainty as I have not watched it myself.
