I bet that cut out scene TMC described will be in the next collector DVD box...
Edit: forget that last part. See post below. My mistake.

Well, the ships are soon to come.

Feel free to post anything relating to the Two Towers Extended Edition and the Return of the King here, as well as what you expect from the movie.

I liked the Old Man Willow reference and Treebeard quoting Tom Bombadil.

And that conceptual artist chap (Alan Lee, I think) dropped his camera out a helicopter window!  :laff:
They were scouting for the Edoras location and he stuck his head out the window, unfortunately they were travelling at 100mph.

It's amazing how many hours of your life a little burgundy box can consume...

I think a couple of the re-inserted scenes were done a bit clumsily this time around, especially near the end.

I did like the whole Denethor/Boromir/Faramir sequence though.

my fav part of the extended edition is the added stuff to the ending, mainly coz I like it all to be as true to the book as possible.

I'm really thrilled about the ending of "Return of the King" after they have cut the scenes with Saruman (Christopher Lee).

Why That was the book, as bittersweet as it was tolkien would have wanted it that way.

no running Saruman being ruler of the shire?
Then why the hell did they set it up in the mirror in The Fellowship

Lets hope it was at least filmed and put back into the extended edition

According to Peter Jackson the scene in the mirror of Galadriel was a homage to that part of the book (The Scouring of the Shire, I think it's called)

But, the scene was not filmed at all.

The Huorns in Helm's Deep: Boo Ya!!   :D

Not including Gollums speech on R2: Booo Hoo!!

Did anyone else think that little box Sam dropped was the special uber-soil given to him by Galadriel?
But it just turned out to be stupid salt!!  :(

I've just heard the song "Into the West" by Annie Lennox. It's gorgeous and if this song won't receive an Academy Award there is no justice.

I think that Mr. Potter is spamming up the place. How many times has he double posted or even triple posted? There's even a post that is completely blank. I mean, what the fuck!?

2 spam posts at the same time. GODDAMN!

In other news (to not completely waste this post):

ABC Primetime is going to show a one hour lookk at the making of ROTK next Thursday night Dec. 4th. For those interested, it promises to be great.
Also checkout the latest Newsweek with the Aragorn cover. It has great photos and an even better story.
And also, I opened this thread so LOTR fans can talk about certain aspects of the movies, so I take the space also to announce cool things that they are going to sell or show in TV, it's just to let them know so they won't miss it. I hope that's not considered spam (except for "two" certaain people who tend to post almost at the same time in the same place)

There's no need to spam another thread. If you want to express your anger to Mr. Potter, do it in someplace else. And by the way, Potter is completely right in this whole deal, look at the New Trailers thread, you can't stop talking to each other here.

Going back on the topic : I haven't seen the movies, but I heard very good things about them and I'm really looking forward to seeing them.

I just want my preciouss to come here.
Also, I totally support what Mr. Potter say about LOTR, I know him and he knows everything about the movie, In fact he is the one not spammer in this thread.

I'm looking forward to ROTK more than any movie in decades... probably since ROTJ in 1983.

Hopefully this 3rd act will surpass that of 'Jedi', and be the best of the LOTR films!  :D

The only way it couldn't would be if Jackson included Jarjaramir, Boromir and Faramir's brother, and replace the Path of the Dead with the Forest of the Ewoks.

"THE journey ends and the film delivers. Fans and cinemagoers can rest easy -- the final instalment in The Lord Of The Rings film trilogy, The Return Of The King, meets even its very high expectations.
The three hour and 20 minute epic is a triumph of sweeping fantasy, glorious special effects and solid story-telling, building upon, and bettering, the two films that have gone before it."- The Daily Telegraph

I can't wait.

Aragorn is probably going to fight the Mouth of Sauron.  Some people don't realize he's a different character and have been reporting an Aragorn/Sauron fight.  (I understand the Mouth of Sauron is played by Bruce Spence, the guy who played the Trainman in The Matrix Revolutions.)

I found out today that on December 17 a local theater here in St. John's, Newfoundland is screening all three of the LOTR movies back to back and tickets are only like 20 bucks (good deal considering an adult ticket to one movie is $10).

Are those the extended editions of Fellowship and Towers being shown before ROTK, or the theater releases?  A theater around here (Southern BC) is showing the extended editions, but I don't think I could stand 9 hours in a theater... I'm going to watch them before hand with my friends on DVD. It'll be fun, one of them (the biggest Tolkien fan of us) has not seen any of the films, waiting to see them all as one trilogy.

I just checked out the website and they are the extended editions, which I haven't seen. So I'm glad you mentioned it because now I know there'll be something new there to see as well (Besides ROTK of course).

Yeah, that's the so-called Trilogy Tuesday, you go to the theatre and watch the first two extended editions and then, at approximately 10 p.m. of Tuesday, December 16th, you get to see The Return of the King.
If you can go to one of these, consider yourself lucky, there has been huge demand for these screenings, and people have been buying tickets for ridiculously high prices.

If you'd pay attention, most of those double and triple posts were days and even weeks apart. Granted, a handful are close enough that the addtional info could have been added using 'edit', but that's not the case for many of them.

Also, those "blank" posts you mention just have links to images that have since broken. It's not his fault nothing shows up months later.
