i like each type of show in it's own way. for animated shows, though, the characters can do stuff that real people could never do.

Animation because they can do things that are like impossible to humans on earth.

many people don't realize how much more freedom one has in writing a good animated show than a real life show.

Yeah... I hardly watch any live action stuff anymore, except for Buffy, Boston Public, and DAG (for Lauren Tom, natch...)

stupid answer:

deppends on the show, a bad show is a bad show , animated or real-life image and a good one is a good one, animation is normaly seen for childs, but first the Simpson , and now Futurama, South Parks and many others prove that animation is not only for kids

I mostly watch animation, but I must ask why this is in the general Futurama discussion area.

Both actually. Basically all the non-anime stuff I enjoy as entertainment is comedy shows. But animation has that edge that comedy can simultaneously be drawn at two levels, for adults and for kids. But I enjoy stuff like Seinfeld and Drew Carey too.

Animation rules! You can do things that nobody has ever put on screen before, without a huge SFX bill the size of a small countrys national debt.

If all TV was animated, tho it would be a litle bit freaky. Imagine Morbo on CNN!

Heh, live action has it's place, right down at the bottom  :p

With animation, you can do anything! [takes giant mallet out of his pocket and smashes ground making it shake and break and falls down into Jell-O] Mmmm... grape!

And anime takes that several steps further (western animation, in terms of what impossible stuff the characters do, is still kinda normal compared to anime).

I'm sure that UK viewers will know The Gogs and Rex the Runt, and let's no-one forget the claymation film series Wallace and Gromit!

"live" shows like the daily show and who's line is it anyway are cool
but then animation like futurama and home movies and sealab 2021 is cool too

I couldn't possibly pick

Jon Stewart is a hell of a lot better than what's his face, the really unfunny one, Craig Killborn.  Not to mention he's damn sexy.

Yeah I can't stand to watch his show, it crosses the line into extreme lameossity.

I'd like to interview Jon, maybe have dinner with him, go back to his appartment...

depends. animation is more flexible.
but on the other hand, most movies are better in a real format.
plus most animated shows don't have such an extreme humor (except maybe southpark and some others), whereas there are plenty pretty sick real life shows, like (classics)monty python, jackass, tom green or trigger happy tv...

That’s probably what I would say too.
There are funny real series too, like Seinfeld…
