This might be promising, especially since it includes the possibility of crossing over with the OT
Actually i just learned that Rebels will start 5 years before A new hope... wich is interesting considering that theese series usually are planed for 5 seasons/years.. that would mean that unless renewed or "time compression" (like in Clone Wars where 5 and a half seasons count for less than 2 years) the series would end in the battle of Yavin or quite nearby.. also would mean that Shaak Ti is still arround (IF they even take Force Unleashed as canon)... Also dont know what they plan to do with her..or even if they plan anything at all.. but Ahsoka tano should be arround , still a force user and arround 30 year old

And the inquisitor character hunting down remaining jedis only 5 years or sooner before ANH is a bit of a red flag to the whole "the Jedi have been long extinct" tone they established
The inquisitor has been established as a dark force user...not a Sith and of course not even a Jedi.. still it collides with Tarkin's line "you my friend is all whats left of that ancient religion" .... maybe it means that both the inquisitor and the "jedi" will kill each other in the series finale? .. could be a nice way to end the series and tie it to ANH ... but again have they even respected the canon? For example the battle of Endor is clearly stated in the ROTJ novel and script as the bigest space battle ever...and the first time ships had fought at super-close range since many centuries ago.... then in Revenge of the Sith we see a way bigger space battle with the ships just as close... The jedi knight is presented in the original trilogy as a wise meditative force user peace seeker and conflict solver ... and in the prequels they mostly are stupid grunts who charge screaming at anything that oposes them ( Federation ship, naboo blockade, Geonosis battle, mostly everything) with their lightsaber high and have absolutelly null peace keeper capacity.. hell even their second in command Windu is an arrogant dick who will kill first and ask later... and then pretend he is a wise man..... Obi Wan had also said that the Jedi had maintained peace and justice all over the Republic "before the empire" ..and the prequels stablish that BEFORE (14 years to be precise) the Empire the republic was allready an almost totally decadent , corrupt and useless gobern with plenty of systems wishing to separate

Chrome armour - what, like the Sith Troopers from Knights of the Old Republic? Cool, if so. Personally, Javier, if they come up with a Stormtrooper variant who wears amour that actually serves a purpose, i.e. doesn't respond to a blast from a sidearm like its made of paper, or isn't pierced by what is essentially a pointy stick, then huzzah! I think I've said before, long ago, that I think it not a failing of the depiction of the Stormtroopers in Star Wars, but they missed a trick in not making them exceptional images of fear and threat - have lesser troops be the cannon fodder, while Stormtroopers appear rarer and pose much more of a challenge to the main characters. Otherwise they're remembered as being a bit bloody useless and common as muck. imo.
A bit like in Republic Commando, Super Battle Droids were depicted almost as mini-boss fights, because they were so tough and heavily armed, but their subsequent depiction in Revenge of the Sith almost made them comical. In fact, much as I felt Revenge of the Sith was the best prequel film, I was annoyed by the way they made the droids more comical - rather than the cold, emotionless and intimidating presence they had in the first two films, in the third you can hear them idly chatting and back-talking to their generals. They're fucking droid soldiers - who the bloody hell decided to insert personality chips in them!?!
There, that's my rant...

Star Wars Rebels final movie trailer (yes.. they are making a movie pilot) Really want to like this... but after so many dissapointments im too cautios and wary so far its clicling right buttons... classic trilogy era (5 BBY) the empire in all its glory .. and following a rebel cell.. yes it looks and feels quite "kids" but its on Disney ... its clear that they aim at a primary kid-teen audiences...and we olders are just here along because StarWars .. Also liked Obi Wan's message (probably recorder rigth away after the Order 66) and his mention of "a new hope will emerge" ... a clear reference to episode 4.. Also wonder if Obi Wan would appear apart from in the hologram recording.. by this time (5 BBY) he has been 14 years in Tatooine watching over Luke from a distance ... but we dont know canonically anything about what he did there all the time from order 66 to ANH... Bail Organa for sure knew he was there as Leia was trying to reach him in ANH .. also interesting is that the charactyer Ezra is 14 year old... wich means he is exact same age as Luke and Leia. Also im like Kanan's background.. basically he was a Padawan who managed to survive order 66 and since then he has basically broken his Jedi link and survived as "spacer" until he joined a rebel cell and began fighting the empire using his small remaining links with the force.. i like the fact that hes dressed very like Kyle Katarn... wich may hint that at least someone is looking at some of the expanded universe (or maybe just a coincidence.. tought as Sherlock says the universe rarelly is so lazy) i like the Zeb character design (using a ruled out early Chewacca concept) i like seeing Wookies as slaves in the trailer (because only the expanded universe stated that the empire used Wookies as slaves ... and even recently Lucas had said they used the Geonosians as work force for death stars .. so maybe again someone is reading the expanded universe to write this?) . only stuff that bounces a bit is what will happen with both Kanan and Ezra since there were suposed not to be any other Jedi by ANH... but again the galaxy is so vast and big that a lesser Jedi (Kanan was a padawan who stoped his training at order 66 and has not been using the force to hide the last 14 years.. and Ezra is a force senstive person trained by someone who didnt even finished padawan training.. ) i can see this two persons being ignored at large by the empire (and Moff Tarkin in particular) even tought someone would be chasing them (the Inquistior) speaking of wich i also liked they using a Pau'an for the inquisitor.. is an allready known race so they clearly used what was avalaible instead of creating new ones (atjum..... Maul)

Well ..managed to catch "Spark of a rebellion" on XD while on a re-run Mixed feelings but mostly positive...overall it was ok.. (better imho than CloneWars wich wasnt much hard) liked many things.. disliked others
Liked:
-OST: Perfect... the soundtrack is absolutelly 100% classic StarWars.. much use of the classic saga tunes along a few new ones... it helped in the feeling of being back in the classic Star Wars era...
-They went back to roots with the force and other stuff.. when Ezra hold the lightsaber it really felt like something really special ... not something over-used or over-exposed like in CloneWars.. and they explain the force just as the classic trilogy did.. something mistical unexplainable.. not some biological stuff
-Even in this remote setting (Lothall) we get plenty of stuff ..some of wich came from the EU.... a city named after Moff Tarkin (wich by now should be on the Death Star proyect).. Wookies being used as slaves (and a part of the rebelion is the operations to free them, also EU), Holocrons (EU) and even the Kessel spice mines (wich was reference as early as in A New Hope)
-The characters are decent.. all of them felt natural and not cartoonized parodies.. even Sabine the "pink mandalorean" seemed centered and just having her own style.. not a "look at her she is a warrior girl..she is cool because she wears pink" ... Zeb while having a bit of too much "grrrr im angry" moments also had good ones like when he points past fights along the Wookie army and the old republic army.. not just a generic grunt... but this can change quite quickly
-Imperial Star Destroyer and TIE Fighters
Disliked:
-A bit too much senseless violence... yes this is a war and people feared Disney toning down a lot the violence... but in this pilot episode they practically kill more imperials onscreen than in the entire classic trilogy... but the problem as i mentioned in past reviews is that they do in a too casual manner... even in the classic trilogy they killed imperials but it was in the middle of a fight out of pure necesity and never overkilling... in Rebels Kanan went on an imperial killing spree taking even groups of 4 simultaneously... also that Imperial officer kicking a stormtrooped down a cliff for no reason seemed waay out of place... barelly worked as a joke.
-Pace felt too rushed.. is like they "adopt" Ezra way too quickly... they could have at least taken 3 or 4 episodes to "complete" the process ... im not asking a "Farscape" level of character development .. but even CloneWars took a bit longer sometimes (tought not that much)
-A bit of nitpicking but i dont get the part of Ezra's rescue... are they seriously telling me that a KNOWN rebel ship/transport could fly back and dock into a fraking Imperial Star Destroyer hangar bay without ANY oposition? did the guys in the bridge just looked at it while docking and said "yeeeahhhh... maybe we should do something about it"..
Its a friging star destroyer... Rebels have big problems getting near them in X-Wings and other fighter craft... let alone dock in then unoposed in a big transport (the Ghost is even larger than the Millenium falcom BTW probably twice the volume).. were it so easy i can picture the rebellion just flying to them with transports filled of rebel troopers and comandos and making their own star destroyer fleet so easy... Destroyers are suposed to be scary giant ships hard as hell to take on ... how can they be scary if you simply board it easier than landing at JFK?)
Even so its a good start..
Disney anounced that they are makign a second season... so we will see how this goes from here on

Yeah, I'm not too fussed about the title. The Force was sort of crapped up in the prequels, so maybe the title is indicative of both the content of the film and the outlook of the sequels.

I want to believe that they will simply forget about that shit Lucas fraked up in the prequels about the force.. Even Lucas himself must be ashmahed because he never againg bringed up the issue again after episode I... not even Clone Wars with their absurd stupid "hyper-Jedis" touched the issue And so far Disney's Rebels is treating the force in a quite exquisite way absolutelly reminiscent of the old trilogy.. Kanam seems way more like the Jedi we all had in mind before episode I began the ludicrous hyper-Jedi stuff speaking of Rebels still has much to prove and show an evolution but even considering the "we dont have to follow EU" they are touching some nice details from it: - TIE Fighters have no shields and are manufactured by Sienar Fleet systems.. Both data had been so far only reference in EU sources... in no movie or movie's book was ever mentioned either the company that made the TIE series or that at least the standard model lacked shields (movie evidence actually showed them exploding after one aparent hit just like X-Wings and Y-Wings, if we took only that we could reason they have similar shielding than other fighters) -Moff Tarking is the gobernor of the outter-rim. Canonically we only knew Tarkin was a gobernor and at no point in the movie he is mentioned as Grand Moff.. actually the Grand Moff title is not mentioned even once in any movie despite 2 Grand Moffs showing up -Imperial Security Bureau: Again something that until now had only existed in EU sources Screw ups: So far non as far as i know.. except that mentioned part of boarding a Star Destroyer with a transport... wich should be impossible... unless they explain some sort of advanced cloacking or stealth system wich if existed should make attacking ISDs so much easy for the rebels later... Controversy: Kessel makes its first canonical appearance and it seems more like a normal spherical planet with surface mines of spice rather than a messed potato like planetoid with deep underground caves filled with weird spiders... tought all that Kessel despiction was made up by Kevin J. Anderson so i dont give a crap about they rewriting that (and actually i like they erasing his works mhahahaha)

I quite like the title The Force Awakens, not bad at all. I'm also glad that they've wrapped up filming, that's good to know. I can't quite believe it takes over a year to release, but I guess on a movie this epic there's a lot to do after it's filmed...
I also read that some of it is filmed in Iceland, which is pretty awesome. I love it in Iceland, the landscapes are amazing. I can really see it fitting in nicely. Good choice, should look great!...

It's usually 6 months to a year for post-production. But moreover, some of that time is simply spent waiting for the right time to release it in cinemas.

the movie will be released december 2015 so they have nearly 14 months of post-production wich is good... for Star Wars or other effect-heavy films is the usual .. also its likely they they will re-shot some scenes or maybe some aditional footage I'm just wondering how big of a role Han will get since it still sounded like Ford hadn't fully recovered from his injury
No-spoiler .. but i think that Ford/Fisher/Hammil roles will be minor ones... probably apearing at beginning and maybe a bit at the end of the movie and only there to link with the old movies and pass the torch to the old ones.. kinda like how DeForest Kelley was in the pilot of Star Trek TNG .. just to walk down the Enterprise-D and say "yes this is a good ship" and go away... or David Hasselfold in the Knight Rider modern series's pilot episode.. We still dont know even if they are going to even respect Han and Leia's having three sons ..wich seems what most people is especting but absolutelly no clue about that.. they might change that to "hand and leia only had 2 kids, no twins and with diferent names" ..or no kids at all and they new characters will be some new stuff

Did they film the primary footage for all three films at once or did shooting just wrap for the first film? It seems like, if they knew there were going to be three new movies, that they'd do it all at once.

If they are not using the same director for each movie, then it seems pointless. So I am pretty sure they didn't.

episode 4 of Rebels "Raise of the old masters" was quite decent.. introduces the Inquisitor who looks way more like a Dark Jedi is suposed (or was before Lucas fraked up) than Darth Maul and Dooku together (renember the Inquisitor is not a Sith..just a dark force user trained by Vader to hunt Jedii and force users).. and again the use of the force is clearly more old trilogy oriented than new Also more EU referenced: Base Delta Zero ... wich is the code name for a planetary fleet bombardment.. until now it was used only in novels and ship cross-sections guides also So Luminara is dead.... quite predictibly but i found amusing how when the Rebels trailer came out wich showed a glimpse of Luminara alive many people began to bitch about "but she was death ..they are breaking continuity" and i said "wait until you see the actual episode to speak... it might be a fake to atract jedis to a trap"..and what would you know... nailed it
also i still find a bit irritating how the Ghost can get to Imperial ships and installations so undetected... unless they explain sometime that its some one of a kind device or some other explanation its a bit deux-ex-machina that they have a ship with that huge strategic potential.. the rebellion ..or any force would have absolute no problem to win a war if they can fly that easily to any imperial target.
Rebember Endor? they needed a stolen imperial Shuttle with stolen access codes (many death bothans and so) to be able to land on Endor... with a ship like the Ghost who would need such stuff? just land squad after squad of commandos or bombs to targets you will be able to fly undetected and thats it... win the war
also its taking away that badass factor the destroyers.. we see Han solo running away from them all first 2 movies... and in the third the Falcon only dared to come close to them because that was a battle... and quite a big one with so many targets arround... if ships like the Ghost were normal then the Falcon is crap and Han Solo a lamer

To be fair, Jav, they do say the Ghost has an 'advanced system' that generates new identities for the ship which sort of eases into your want of a 'one-of-a-kind device' but I agree that it feels a bit... silly? unbelievable? even by Star Wars standards to have them repeatedly go in and out of places without getting caught or recognized both in-ship and outside of it on ops. We don't know how common VCX-100s are in this era of the lore, but I feel like the Ghost has enough distinguishing marks to flag it regardless of how many ships are in commission commercially or are used by average civilians. Imps have been incompetent before, sure, but this much? I'm not so sure.
That aside, I've really been enjoying Rebels unlike the nasty little YouTube comment trolls. Ezra was a character I worried about being super annoying but reservedly held faith in. Thankfully, he's grown and developed pretty rapidly from 'Space Aladdin' to something more. Hera and Sabine, to me, are the true gems. I can never say no to more women in Star Wars, nor can I say no to these two characters, particularly Hera. Something about her personality feels so genuine and fleshed out even though we know little about her so far.
