Really excited about the Rarity episode.  I always enjoy Rarity epsiodes because they beocme surprisingly realistic pony-tales of things many small time and independant artists, creatives and designers go through: in the past we had ungrateful friends, people meddling in the creative process who have no idea what they are talking about, the importance of networking and image and how a single event can ruin your PR or at least seriously damage it, and now a very serious issue for people of Rarity's position: what happens when a big time brand with the finances and power to steal an independant artitst's work with impunity does so.

Is it just me or is season four of mlp rather dark? And I don't just mean the lighting... Also violence, they had to up the rating for Power Ponies alone.

The whole castle interior was creepy, but this organ music knocked it up a notch. Although the creepiest bit was the hall of disembodied pony hooves.


The fact that they talked about Scootaloo's obvious disability and her insecurity was a dark topic to touch on, but I'm glad they did.


You won't like Fluttershy when she's angry... I seriously can't believe they went there...

I left Daring Don't and Rarity Takes Manehatten out on purpose, there wasn't any really "dark" bits. Lots of feels though.

The animation just gets better and better.
I'm kind of looking forward to Rainbow Rocks--not hugely, but further expansion on Vinyl Scratch would be neat. Curious as to what they'll do with Twilight's character: the portal's closed, so unless the twin that Pinkie Pie was talking about shows up, or they make up some loophole (I hope not).
I'm looking forward to seeing how they handle minor characters' personalities, hopefully not too far from the most popular fanon versions. I'll be disappointed if they include Vinyl without Octavia.

I haven't seen it yet (haven't seen any of it yet...stopped watching after Three's a Crowd. I don't have cable, and you really have to watch it the day it comes out online before it gets removed. I'm waiting until they update Netflix, which shouldn't be too long.).
Hmm, sounds like it was good, though, I'll have to catch up quickly.

I was fully expecting that Discord was playing the villain for a chump and was going to double cross him, leading to his defeat.  I was disappointed when this did not happen.

Still, they've finally managed to turn this show into Sailor Moon with ponies, just as Lauren Faust originally intended, so there's that.

Celestia was clutching at straws in hoping Discord wasn't going to tell Tirek about Twilight, I didn't think she knew what was going to happen.

As for Discord, does this even look like the face that knew what was going to happen?

Didn't Twilight's Castle tree grow where the old one was? But I hope they restore the old library as much as they can. Maybe this is a job for Applebloom, since growing/building/creating things is meant to be her area of expertise.

I actually went to a showing with a group of Bronies a week or so ago. It was a huge step up from the first movie. Just as many nods to the fandom but without such a bad plot. Flash Sentry's role got a lot of complaints, but as someone who didn't hate him in the first movie, it didn't matter to me one way or the other. I found the villains a bit disappointing, though, if only by design: MLP villains are gradually getting showier and showier to outshine the others, and the rest of the cast rest of the cast look positively dull in comparison.
But the new Sunset Shimmer is adorable!

I watched that documentary on Bronies the other day and I think I "get it" now.

Like, with the exception of that one person who was basically Comic Book Guy, nobody mentioned the show when they talked about why they liked the show. They all talked about being a part of this community or being able to enjoy things that are just "nice".

Because I watched the first episode of the show a while back to try and wrap my head around this fanbase and it was just... I mean, I've seen worse cartoons for kids but it was still pretty poor.

Patience! Remember, good things come to those who wait, and all that. Mostly I'm happy-ish for it to arrive a little later, as that means I've got a little more time to finish off one of my fanfics before the show makes it even more obsolete.

So naturally the show will arrive as soon as possible...

Anyway, looking forward to that "everypony-is-equal" episode - I'm very curious to see how they handle it, and quite excited. An episode where the Mane 6 come across a society that lives under a completely alien ideology, and/or could be part of an evil conspiracy. Should be fun, and possibly quite dark too. Depends whether the resolution is a cop-out or not.

From what I can surmise from the trailer, Ponyville Castle has a magic map app that will flag up missions across Equestria for the Mane 6 to head off to do. Could be a great starting point for more varied adventures and the fleshing out of Equestria, though I hope we don't lose the slice-of-life storylines, which imho is still probably what the show does best.
