To everyone who are waiting for the Simpsons Season 2 DVD set: I've got it! (And Amazon.com doesn't release it before August 6!) I found it last Friday in a local video store in the tiny Norwegian village Molde. I had to pay 600 NOK (woha! overprized!) but it was definately worth it.

How exactly is the menu animated?  What other improvements are there over season 1?

Yeah, the menus on the Season 1 set were prettty dull... now, look at the menus on the Buffy Season 2 set. Solid.

The menus are animated in a "cartoony" way, and the animating is absolutely not overdone.

When you load the disc you will see this... thing. Press enter and the disc will spin, and you will have lots of fun when you see homer's head on burns' body, and so on. When you get the heads and bodies right, you will see the main menu. (You can skip this by pressing the menu button)

Some of the episode menus are animated, for example this one:

Blinky is swimming around in his fishbowl and Burns is blinking his eyes.

You'll not only get better menus, but the episodes in this season are better too. My favourite so far is "Itchy and Scratchy and Marge". I haven't had the time to look at the special features yet. There are music videos, interviews, commercials and more! The cover design is great, and the set has a total playtime of 506 minutes, thats over 8 hours! Yay! It's definately worth the money.

Its been so long since I've seen these episodes.  (Our FOX station(55)stopped airing reruns about three years ago)

Are the commentaries any good?

If you think those mismatches are funny, you should see disc three. Funny as hell...

UK people should check out their local Forbidden Planet. I got mine today there. Great set, even if you're a casual fan of The Simpson you should get this set. FP have it for £33, which isn't bad for what you get  :).

I went looking for it today, saw that 3rd pic above of Burns and Blinky on a television in a Golden Disks shop, went in: "Sorry, it isn't out until Monday!!"

But but but!!!
Weirdness.

Cool, a season 2 DVD I can actually buy here! Sadly, I don't even have the Season 1 set.

I dunno if I want to buy it.  Sky have repeated the episodes so many times they've lost all meaning.

I'm definitely getting it!  My FOX station stopped airing reruns 3 years ago so it'll be great seeing those classic episodes again.  btw does anyone know if there is a "Play All" function?

There wasn't on the first set. Besides, who wants to watch six episodes in one sitting, anyway?

On the other hand: I've seen them all in syndication so many times, when I sit down and watch 'em with the outtakes back in place, it's going to be disorienting, like listening to a CD that has mysteriously grown an extra track. (The Simpsons was the first show where I caught onto the fact that studios hack up to two minutes out of episodes so affiliates can run more truck commercials.)
