Bender: "Futurama did it! Hell, I did it!! Episode 3ACV20, Godfellas!! I'm gonna kill that little Cartman bastard!!"
Ewwwwwwww. Halfway through the episode, I had come
this close (pinches fingertips together) to hurling up about three times.
The second half was not nearly as spewkey, but just as hilarious. All the
Simpsons references were downright deferential--save for the suggestion that, after thirteen years, it's not as fresh as it was. Whether that's true or not, or an insult or not, is up to the viewer. But when Parker and Stone don't like you, they go after you a lot harder than
THAT. (Just ask the Ramseys, Gary Condit, and OJ.)
Ironically, when
South Park first aired, I hated it--a corrupt mayor? A stupid police officer? An abusive teacher?
Simpsons did it, Simpsons did it. But before long, the show went in its own direction and I fell for it big time.
Unlike
The Simpsons these days, I can't wait to see next week's show (even if it's going to make me sick to my guts).
