It's sci-fi. That's a good enough reason for me. And yes I have seen it, and yes I have seen various sci-fi programs against my will and none have ever made any sense to me, unless you count Futurama which is more of a comedy drama set in the future - I guess because if it was truly sci-fi then I wouldn't understand what the hell was going on, ever.
Sci-fi nothing. Science fiction involves scientific advancements of some sort, whether it involves space ships or ray guns. Lord of the Rings is fantasy, and it was THE series that made fantasy a driving force in literature, well, modern literature anyway. Also, your statements do not back up the "LotR is crap" statement, you're just saying you don't like it. Your tastes in literature or movies does not invalidate something's position as a classic. I read Great Expectations and hated every word of it, but it is still a classic of English literature. I saw American Beauty, I did not appreciate it at all, yet it still went on to win several Oscars, as I recall. You're allowed to not enjoy something, but trying to invalidate an established classic using only your opinion just doesn't work at all.
Consider your ass harpooned.
