That special was quite formulaic.

But, then again, this is Doctor Who...

I need to rewatch it and actually pay attention. To it.

I liked it, it filled me with happy. Matt Smith is always enough to make me happy but it was a feel good episode and I can live with that.

Plus the ending was soppy as hell and I always love the way Matt carries that off.

Almost thought I was over Doctor Who after this last season (it wasn't bad, but I thought maybe I was just tiring of it all), but perhaps the break was all I needed. I actually really enjoyed the special, lots of amusing bits and witty lines from Smith. Just some good light-hearted fun, which is what I needed. I even liked the ending, as sappy as it was...the Doctor finally feels like he has a family. How sweet. :)

If I have one complaint, it's that there should have been more Bill Bailey and his crew.

I quite liked it. Even if it didn't have enough Bill Bailey.

It would be cool if that team showed up in future Doctor Who episodes. We didn't really learn much about who they were at all here.

They were there to investigate the arrival of intruders on their tree farm. That was pretty clearly established.

I guess I just wanted a little more. When they first showed up it seemed like they were going to be a bigger part of the special. Then they just teleported away.

It seemed to me as though they wanted to do two things. Firstly, give Madge a cool toy to break. Secondly, to give Bill Bailey a cameo.

Would be nice to see that team again in future episodes.

Finally got round to watching it.

Was good. Ending was touching too. I'll post more about it tomorrow when I can be bothered...

One thing though, everything seems to be rushed. Madge just seemed to help the Doctor as if he was an old man wanting to cross the road. Really?

It's World War II. An explosion, A BOMB LIKE EXPLOSION, goes off right next to you, and instead of getting up and running away in a panic, you just look up slowly and think "I'm gonna go look at that possible bomb site where the bomb could still have a risk of exploding..."

And then, a spacesuit... Now, weren't scary sci-fi spacemen stories popular in the 40s and 50s? I would of shat myself. Not gone over like "Are you okay?"

Third, would you really ask that? A man just fell from bloody space and caused an explosion like impact. "My first thought: ask him if he's okay..."

Okay I could go on about this one scene, but I'll do it another time...

I think that was the whole point though....that any other person would have been terrified out of their wits, but for some reason she wasn't and had absolutely no problem with it whatsoever, treating it like it was any other day. It was meant to be humorously bizarre, and part of her character.

* SGB prepares for harsh hurricane storm of angry posts from loyal Doctor Who fans...

I never really saw much of Doctor Who. I've seen at the most 10 minutes... I plan on getting to it someday, as it is said to be a classic! :) And who's to argue? If there have been multiple references on Futurama, it must be worth a shot! :D I promise I'll get to it someday...I promise.

I believe it is. I have a red one for her around here somewhere. I don't actually know if they come in all the new colours. Somewhat disappointingly, they all say the same thing.

Yes it is SoS. The Tardis is also there somewhere. They like to go off randomly. I get a lot of weird looks when the Dalek starts yelling "Exterminate!"

I might just be being stupid, but I don't get it. What's the connection to Harry Potter beyond the Harry Potter logo stuck over the top of it?

Edit: Are they the house colours or something?

It tells us what actor is going to be playing an important character we've never met before. What if the show writers try to introduce him on the show as that particular character in a surprisingly misleading way?

Anything about content of future episodes must be in spoilers.

No announcement on plans for the 50th anniversary given today.
