I don't think it's meant to be understood, trying to understand Pinkie is nigh impossible at times like veggie salad times. Just a few thoughts about the new episode -Was a topic that was very real for me and I love how the whole thing played out. As I'm older now I realise bullies have their own issues, and perhaps we'll maybe get to see why Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon are snarky in the future and explore their characters a bit further. -Loved the song <3 So many songs this season so far! I love it. So much fanservice (here's a sample of obvious ones) -No Derpy? Hasbro I am disappoint. So pumped for this weekends episode - bring on Trixie!

Just watched the Magic Duel, and I have to say that was pretty epic. I'm going to watch it through again and leave some commentary here: (and I couldn't help myself, some pictures too - it's been too long since a Futurama episode, my lack of printscreen feels strange) The opening is rather dark, darker than even what Discord and Luna openers ever were. They immediately make up for it with calming Fluttershy... well, sort of... I really love the animation in this, as someone who's learnt a bit of flash basics this year, I appreciate the details given, like Fluttershy trembling. For some reason Snips and Snails really annoy me >< I love the rock farm revisist! ... also Pinkies only line. I spose we needed a bit of a break from Pinkie after all that "Fun" in Too Many Pinkie Pies. But despite not having a mouth, there's still a lot of fourth wall breaking, including how her mouth is disposed of. In fact, come to mention it, there's a lot of brony shout outs in this episode. I spose it being a 'Trixie' episode is a brony shout out in herself. Owlicious! Now I don't like to ship anything in mlp except Derpy/Doctor and maybe Sparity, but even I'm noticing the sudden huge amounts of apparent Rarijack - stop giving the shippers fuel! The magic duel is full of lols, clever summoning Parasprites (and again, nice call back) Out of all of Twilights magic, this is the most pointless. I mean, yes, Trixie doesn't like being laughed at, but really, hair growing? You learnt that ages ago, Twi - do something new! Evil Trixie Laugh <3 Tickelish AJ = ROFLMAO Zecora is best Yoda Twilight is best Jedi in training Poor Pinkie >< I can't imagine what it would be like to not be able to speak. Lol at Fluttershy - you really need to speak up, dear. At least Spike realised you were holding something relevant. Her 'WHAT?!' was loud enough, although Dash seems to be oblivious by her discomfort. Doesn't trust wheels? Her cart had wheels, what's her problem? "I miss the days when she was just a fraud!" I honestly thought 'use the 6' was meaning the Elements of Harmony. Poor Mayor I do like this sequence - I was spoiler'd a bit so I knew how Twilight did the age thing, but the doubling of the rainbow (oh dear, another reference) took me by surprise Lyra: We are best background ponies Bon Bon: We are? B-but what happened to Derpy? Was that Bic Mac imitating his sister, or was Applejack providing a voice from behind the statue? Also I'm glad to see Trixie seek forgiveness, although her love of herself still needs toning down a bit, but at least she can admit she was wrong. lolz at the trip - hopefully this 'running off' that mirrors the ending in Boast Busters also reflects the foreshadowing of a return. Even just as a travelling pony show again, just her randomly performing in the background at some random location. I would even like to see her come and warn or seek help from Twilight from another villian or problem. TWILIGHT JUST BROKE FOURTH WALL! ... and Pinkie didn't get to say any more lines, lol. (Also apparently Derpy was in the crowd watching Twilights magic show, but there were duplicate ponies everywhere in that scene, I don't think it was intentional to have a 'spot Derpy' - it was just to fill the stands. They seriously need to bring back the Derpster sometime soon and not have it subtle either - have her cause an accident or something!) Also Futurama/MLP mashups are best mash ups

Rarity self-erects a lot of things. This episode appeals to my love of character continuity. Particularly Applejack and Rarity being completely unfazed by the story of the headless horse, due to having already heard it from Twilight.

So the new ep (The Wonderbolt Academy) has been leaked (by the Hub? lulz) and I have watched the leak version and I found it very awesome and probably one of Rainbow Dashs best episodes other than Sonic Rainboom. I will wait until after the actual show time before I post a proper review. --- There's a section in the episode which makes me wonder if the creators have seen any of the 'Fighting is Magic' previews. (spoilery screenshot) Either way, the fact that Pinkies hugs do actually hurt. Also, this DA emoticon seems to sum up exactly how this hug went:

That's the second leaked episode in recent memory. Shame on them! I will wait until Saturday, muttering about how kids these days have it so easy when it comes to their cartoons. * Xanfor unwraps new Season One DVD set and listens to the commentaries.

I also enjoyed this episode (couldn't resist) EXTREMELY harsh, IMHO, given that, when you think about it, at no point was she ever given any indication by the staff that her actions were wrong. She didn't break any rules, she wasn't ruthless, she was just reckless. It wasn't like she was at any point deliberately trying to undermine Rainbow Dash (though I has to admit I have no complaints about how they handled her character in this one) and when Rainbow Dash takes the impression that that sort of behaviour seems to be rewarded at the academy, and therefore she doesn't want any further part of it, Spitfire's response is "Using tornado to clear up clouds in record time and in the process very nearly kills takes out several bystanders...but in record time...a bad thing you say? I'm not following you..."
She's not like Gilda; when she thrown out, she's devastated. There's no snarky comeback, she's just sent on her way. I feel sorry for her!
Maybe it would have been too sappy to have her acknowledge her recklessness and be given a second chance, haver be wingpony to Rainbow Dash so she can learn to listen to a voice of reason, with a stern glare from Spitfire or something just to remind her not to do it again. Maybe that would have been for the wrong reasons too, kinda like her saying "I'm really sorry I nearly annihilated/obliterated/demolished your friends; having Captain Spitfire verbally knock seven colours of manure out of me really made me realise what I had done was wrong..." But that sometimes happens in life.
I talk too much.

So I totally forgot that I was going to do a proper review, and now I just can't be bothered. Although I will say that I find this depiction of "drill sergeant" Spitfire hilarious. Also badass and awesome. I love her design, and thanks to this episode I'm almost convinced she's my favourite. At any rate, I really like her mane [/sweetie belle] It's also been said that Lightning Dust is Rainbow Dash's Trixie. Hopefully that means she'll return and be redeemed in a later season...?

I hope Braeburn turns up in this episode and is more then just a cameo. *whinnies* And he really was just a glorified cameo, no speaking lines. Considering how long it's been since his last appearance and newcomer Babs gets a lot of dialogue, I'm rather cross. Wasn't my favourite episode (for an episode that focuses on the entire Apple extended family, it wasn't that great. The song was rather fun though. Even though I can give or take Applejack, I do love her accent and her singing voice. Not a terrible episode, but nothing to write home about either. I did like the other two old lady ponies, they were rather funny. Also, all of the ponies have had their own episode this season, except Rarity and Fluttershy. Rarity got some focus in SiP, but not enough to call it "her" episode. Fluttershy really seems to have gotten the shaft this season, considering she has barely any lines even in the episodes she appears.

I love Applejack! I just felt AFR was... nice. Perfectly enjoyable, but not anything amazing to write home about, even the song, sadly (IMO). Although there was that more apple fwittls? bit... HHHHNNNNNNGGGG It was quite touching and cleverly subtle that they'd put out there that the parents of AJ and her siblings are, after all the speculation, really actually dead - in a way that children probably wouldn't notice/understand but the grown-ups would - well get enough of a rumour/speculation mill going that they badger the show's staff to release a Twitter statement saying, literally, Eeeeyep!

Because just thinking about the episode gives you a diabetus heart attack. HNNNNG But cuteness aside... I love how the shooting stars are meant to represent AJs family. I really hope there's an episode in the future that shows us a flashback or something that shows AJs interaction with her parents Edit: Aww, Zed beat me to it. And the song! How could I forget the song?! Since it been stuck in my head for the last few days. The more I play it, the more I enjoy it. I get why some people don't like it - but it's really a style that suits them, and so damn catchy. So... when does RD get her song? Been hanging out for a long time. I mean, the duet with Fluttershy was nice, but I want a rock song of epic proportion.

Given that the average life expectancy of a pony is between thirty-five to forty years, and assuming that Applejack is in her early twenties in human terms, she would have been only a few years old at the time of the last reunion, most likely too young to recall much of anything.
All dragons follow the Dragon Code, dontcha know? Mostly it concerns proper procedure for terrorizing villages and hoarding vast amounts of loot. The "saving a dragon's life" bit has rarely been used throughout history, as most dragons don't need saving, and those that do usually end up leased to Gringott's.

I'm not sure about that "100 moons" thing equating to 8 years... the last family reunion was shown in the first ep of season 1.
"Moons" could mean anything in equestria, really, who knows how many months they have in a year?

What we saw in the first episode wasn't an "official" family reunion, regardless of how Applejack referred to it in Applebuck Season, but an impromptu one held when a large number of Apple family members arrived in town for the Summer Sun Celebration.

I'm super-excited for the remaining episodes in this season. Fluttershy attempting to redeem Discord- don't think she'll be too successful but I love how sweet she is to at least give him a chance to reform. He wasn't that crazy.
Very cool that Tank (and maybe Peewee) should be making a return, along with all the other pets in the following episode. Can't wait to see the shenanigans those critters get themselves into. I would love to see Philomena return, but alas, that might be too great a wish.
I really love Cadance and I am glad to see her return for a second time this season. Hopefully Shining Armor will be accompanying her. But, if the mane six are visiting Canterlot, the one thing I want to see most in the show is how Twilight and Shining Armor interact with their parents. We really don't have names for them. And I'm still convinced that the family surname is Sparkle.
Poor Rarity doesn't seem to be getting her own episode this season. And Rarity is probably my favorite of the mane six (and all because of "Diamond Dogs").
