Finished season 4 of Clone Wars...

This series has seriously gone wrong and straight to hell..

Apart from my complaints about it being ambiented in the Clone Wars with hyper-jedis and jar jar arround.. it had a silly factor way high ...like "its for kids" ... but then they didnt mind killing clones.. but hey...they are clones.. and of course millions of droids

Now its like they dont know what they are anymore..

-Good points: They are making lots of efforts to get in nice EU references, characters, places and ships.. wich is quite nice... they have introduced legendary EU places like Mandalore, Toydoria, Dathomir, Dac (Mon Cal and Quarren home world wich doesnt look much like the Mon Calamary we saw in EU sources with big floating cities but its ok... Dac is a big place and we only see a small part of it)..

EU characters like the Mandolerans , the Night Sisters, Tarkin makes an aparence.. Admirall Jullaren..
And glorious ships.. the Y-Wing.. the Z-95 .. the Lady Luck type Space Yath , an  YV-666 freighter..

And then all stops there..

They have gone from utter sillyness to stupid seriousness..  there is 2 or 3 episodes dedicated to the clones questioning their orders and making moral decisions against their orders .. wich would be nice for normal soldiers ...but they ain't ... they are clones specifically modified to take orders and not question them... and thats even the explanation why they will later execute order 66 so efficiently without exceptions .. they are given the order to execute order 66 and they comply without second toughts because they are modified to not have second toughts... and clone wars series pretends to tell us they do have 100% human conscience and morals and that they will question wrong orders?

And then its the utter violence that took over.... its clearlly that they are trying to make it look serious... but its gratoitous and senseless violence... they went to slaughter hundreds of droids to now kill and massacre inocent civilians massivily , pointlessly and on daily basis.. to the point of finding it notoriously innecesary..

Its like "uh.. people on the internet are saying we are a kids show (wich we were) , lets bring lots of blood so they say were a dark cool show" ... sorry... assasin inocent civilians on daily basis doesnt make you a dark show.. and it doesnt fit with StarWars .. yes its a war and yes there is violence in StarWars ...but not in this level wich reminds me suspiciously of "Lost" .. where the slaughtering of "red shirts" became legendary as their main mean of "get your attention".. oh yes.. you got my attention but only in the "it was that really neccesary or even relevant?"

Also noted how they seriously downgraded the Jedi ..and Sith.. from destroying hundreds of droids single handed now we see Jedi be captured, killed or restrained by not many "non force" individuals or sometimes droids... and same goes for the Sith..

Even Grievous gets it and gets captured by .. Gungans.... this would make anyone mad but its done in such realistic and sensate way that Grievous capture by Gungan's (and not without sacrificies from them) is oddly and ironically a really moment of realism... main characters are  supreme fighters but they can be taken down by trained armys and not be gods like the series seemed to indicate before

Dont hold high hopes for the 5th season... its still clone wars (my most hated and overplayed SW period) i think it will keep getting anoyingly and unnecesarily violent and bloody ... like they dont know what public to apeal anymore..

And what anoys me is how great (imho) would had been to have this technology to make a series of the original trilogy between the main movies in the rebelion era ...or why not after the fall of the empire

I dunno I liked the General Krell arc, and the Asaaj Ventress/Dooku/Savage Opress and his "long lost bro" arc.

Cad Bane is the biggest douchebag character ever though.

Started reading some more EU stuff, downloaded a big torrent of eBooks and another one of comics, I had read some of the Golden Age of the Sith era comics years ago but they never held my interest, so I've started with the Darth Bane trilogy books (~1000 years BBY) the guy who implemented the "Rule of Two".

Which clone wars are you talking about?  The 3d one, or the genndy tartakovsky series?

I've only seen a few episodes of either, but the latter seems more interesting to me.

Nice pick ups, Faz0r.

Edit: I figured out the answer to my question. :nono:

Grievous was more intimidating in the Tartakovsky series I thought, because he didn't have his asthma or whatever (Mace Windu crushed his chest bits in the last episode, squishing his vital organs, that's why he coughs all the time and has to be excused from battle every time a Jedi comes within a light year of him)

Yeah that was the explanation back then.. problem is that from the end of the series where Windu "applies pressure on him" we go straight to Ep.III where he only battles Obi Wan and thats it..

In this current series of Clone Wars 3D Grievus is allready cofin all the time while being a hiperJedi killer in one episode where not even Obi Wan or other Jedis combined can take him down ..and then now he is arrested by Gungans... casually in the same season where we see Jedis taken down by "ordinary" (not force sensitive) foes like those slavers, Mandaloreans.. etc..

I personally prefer this last revision as makes it more beliable.. tought still the episode of that Jedi that turns evil and slaughters like 400 clones before being taken down still resonates as lame

So you think it's lame when they're not powerful and lame when they are powerful?

Anyway, Bane is a good story, force sensitive loser to Sith army soldier to Sith apprentice.

I noticed the Red Letter Media review of ROTS has been removed from YouTube.  Any ideas as to why?  They seem to still be on the RedLetterMedia.com

I enjoy Star Wars a lot, but I can't hold a candle to a friend of mine. He is a movie fanatic in general, and a Star Wars fanatic in particular. Here are a few shots of his office. I got him the giant Darth Vader Pez dispenser (in the 2nd pic) for X-Mas one year.  The photo in the 3rd pic we snuck into his office while he was on vacation one time to see how long it would take him to notice (it was in a less conspicuous place).

Funny Darth Vader picture followed by funny pun. Classic one-two punch courtesy of PEEL.

Anyway, I find myself siding with Javier for the most part when it comes to the Clone Wars. I started out pretty enthusiastic about the show. It would pander to the kiddies at times, but it showed real potential. Had some stunning animation and movie-quality action scenes.

It started to hit its stride somewhere in season 2. There was a Geonosis arc and a Mandalorian arc that wowed me. But it has kind of fizzled out since then. Animation is still technically good, but the scripts have just gotten stupid.

Which is a shame, because the animators are "bringing it" every week with great designs and locations. This is a shameful waste of talent. The show could really be something if the scripts were anywhere near decent.

No... i found it lame (or .. more than lame , ludicrous) when they were "hyperjedi" .. ie: Anaking being utterly invincible and defeating hundreds of droids per minute, Maze riding a droid starfighter after jumping miles up.. etc.

The toning-down is nice as it makes it more realistic.. the problem is that they made it just all the sudden and too much downgradding .. we just passed from "im a jedi and im god" to "im a jedi and im afraid of 3 bounty hunters"..
I prefer the later tought.. makes more sense with what we saw in the classic movies and makes the thing more realistc.. the problem is the writing and escalating of free violence in a show wich was suposedly for kids ..

in other words.. they are commiting one of the worst mistakes in a show: Not knowing what you are anymore or trying to be all things to all people but ending not being any of them... we just went from Jar Jar and C3PO doing ludicrous childish staff to murdering dozens of innocent civilians in cold blood per episode (and im not talking about war cassualties)

That was...wow. I can't even. Holy crap. I mean...what in the. That is amazing.

I hate to be one of those internet nerds that gets pissed off at George Lucas over every single little insignificant thing he does, but geez...he is missing so many opportunities at expanding the Star Wars brand. The Rebel vs Empire imagery is so classic...even after all of these years, the designs still just work. TIEs still look cool, the badguy uniforms still look intimidating. Make a semi-decent show set in that time frame and you would have a huge hit on your hands.

Clone Wars has worn out its welcome and the new Seth Green comedy show is just embarrassing. Combined with the kid-friendly lego stuff, and this is a brand that is going out of style like it's going out of style.

Do the right thing, George! Pay that internet nerd to make full episodes. There's no "????" here--just profit.

I nerdgree with you, Jeff.  I've gotten to the point where my expectations for George Lucas have pretty much bottomed out though.  I was watching ESB and ROTJ at work yesterday and, while discussing the upcoming 3D rereleases, I determined I wouldn't be too shocked or much more disappointed to find Alec Guinness replaced by Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan's ghost in future rereleases.

Its over....

im actually not much worried about them making new films...i can ignore them and keep my old beloved saga... and after all Lucas wasnt going to make a new trilogy ever...

What im terrified its whats going to happen to the HUGE fan comunity out there making fanfilms..

Whats going to happen to Adiwan revisited saga (he has allready posted a message in his page stating that he spects Disney to send him a C&D soon enought) , whats going to happen to IMPS ....  whats going to happen to so many fanfilms, good and bad, cheesy and brilliant..

Lucas might be an arse and destroy the saga in the new trilogy and his revisions ... but he allowed full fandom freedom (as far as they dont comercialize or make money from those works wich is fair).. he even said he enjoyed and respected  fanfilms .. he felt it was a part of the StarWars phenomena and huge comunity.. to people expand the unvierse in their imagination and share that view..

Disney wont allow that... they paid 4 billion dollars for that..

I've been really sort of out of Star Wars for a while but then a couple of days ago I suddenly had the urge to play Star Wars:Supremacy (or Rebellion as its known in the US) and I've played it pretty much straight since that point.

Rather weird, playing a game from the late 1990s, descending back into a universe before EP1 came about, trundling over decade-old forum posts as I try to re-familiarise with how the game works.

I played it so intensely I can still see the galaxy map when I close my eyes. But then I finish the game and come across this news.

So yeah, long story short, I now think I'm hallucinating, brought on by playing an old Star Wars game too much. Far too silly to be reality. You're all part of a warped yet rather unimaginative part of my mind, I'm afraid. Is this really the best I can come up with???

I'm just gonna wait for Star Wars Land to happen. I can hope that it'll give a giant middle finger to Avatardland. We could have an Ewok village or some crap in Animal Kingdom instead. Nobody remembers that boring and lengthy movie anyhow.

In all seriousness, I hope Disney takes greater care when making these sequels than George did with the prequels. As much as I hate Disney from a business standpoint because they're basically turning into a monopolistic institution, I can't say they've ruined Marvel or Pixar, and I don't know of any other company that'd be better to hold onto Lucasfilm Ltd./Skywalker Sound + the Star Wars rights. I'm cautiously neutral over all this. Didn't really shock me like the Marvel buyout did.

This means that, theoretically, The Avengers 2 could see Indiana Jones teaming up with Iron Man et al to save Earth from The Death Star. Also, Buzz Lightyear.

Frankly, I'm more excited that this means Marvel have reacquired the film rights to Howard the Duck.

The one thing that I think ought to be done with this is that they should have Star Wars (the original trilogy) performed by the characters from Duck Tales.

Think about it. Scrooge McDuck as Obi-Wan. Donald as Luke. The triplets as Jawas. Ma Beagle as Vader. Flintheart Glomgold as the Emperor.

It'd beat Family Guy's treatment of Star Wars, I'm sure.

After that, Star Wars should remain separate from and untouched by other franchises.

I guess the move to Disney could be good or bad.  As Javier pointed out, the fan community might take a hit in terms of the liberties it takes with the original material, but they might take some solace in knowing the films may get better.  This also means, for two reasons, I should abandon my "10 things that wouldn't surprise me about future re-releases" project.
