Hey, this show is back, and I think it is being awesome.

First, I am in love with Darryl.

Second I am SO glad that

I do feel bad for the guy they passed on the road.  I get that this is all about survival, but at some point it has to be about rebuilding.  What if they guy they passed was a doctor (Hershel is only a vet), or a engineer, or something similar.  Truth is, that most people would have something to contribute to the group.  If he was a farmer, or a carpenter, maybe he could have gotten those fences back up.  IDK, just thinking they need to at least find out about these people before ignoring them.

Not to mention they're in a war right now and could use any extra people to help fight.

That said, it would be kind of irresponsible for them to pick him up and not tell him they were in a war (like Rick almost did with Morgan until he called him out on it), and if they did tell him "Ya you can come with us, but just so you know there's a whole town of people trying to murder us all" I wonder if he would actually want to come. Wouldn't have hurt to ask, though.

You have to realize how what has happened has altered Rick. He is no longer the open trusting guy he was before. The last time he trusted the unknown he lost his wife (not to mention T-Dog!). I never expected him to pick the guy up, but the outcome was entirely predictable. Maybe they picked up his bag in memory of him... ;)

We got a nickname out of Michonne's shirt this episode... "Two-tone Michonne" heh.

I totally agree with you both.  Trust will forever be an issue now.  I know that in the comic books, Rick and black guy who isn't morgan or t-dog, are both on the same "team."  I wonder how things might differ, or if black guy will change his tune about helping the governor.

As far as going with a person knowing they are going to war... I think I would go with them.  I mean, being on your own, you are going to die of starvation, zombie, or go crazy.  At least if you go with the fighting people, you have a better chance of a faster death (bullet) should it come, or a better chance at living.

That last episode was really good, only focusing on three characters instead of jumping around between the cast (and woodbury) in an effort to give them all 5 minutes of screentime. It reminds me of that season 2 episode where they took a break from all the boring emotional crap on the farm and just spent a whole ep with nothing but Daryl in the woods being awesome. Bonus points for a member of the cast finally telling Carl to stfu and stay put, and for actually giving Michonne some speaking lines. I like her character a lot more now compared to when she just glowered at everyone.

Best episode since the first couple of eps of season 3.

The writer of the most recent ep is the new showrunner for season 4, which is very good news, this guy knows how to write properly and to do some really interesting things with the universe.. little touches like the "Erin" sign (and then later you see a walker with an erin bracelet), rats in cages to bait walkers and the hitch-hiker really made this ep interesting.

At the end I was thinking "they should at least stop and take his pack".. and then 5 seconds later they did. :)

The game is better (and although I haven't read them, since the game is apparently more in line with the comics than the show I assume they are also better). But the show is still pretty good.

I just downloaded a bunch of the comics to my ipod to read.  I have to say though, Darryl is my favorite, and he isn't in the comics - so I'm not sure how much I'll love them.

They keep playing the shorter version of this commercial on TV (like last 30 seconds of it), and Darryl's role in it always makes me smile :D Also I think the guy on the couch played one of Carrie's friends Season 1 SATC...Skipper...I've been seeing him in a lot of these types of commercials recently...

Also...the comics...be prepared for characters who were killed off many moons ago to still be around and kickin' it.

Ok, so I am going to post a little about the comics, and I will use spoiler tags.

First off, I'm on book 9 of 18, and it seems the comic is just right about where the show is now.  I think the show is WAY better than the comic.  It isn't that it is bad, it is just kinda "meh" for the most part, but maybe that is because I have a general idea of what is happening.

So there are a lot of similarities between characters (duh) but some of them are so different I couldn't believe it.

Rick is pretty much the same.... but I find him more annoying in the comics.

Carl is WAY less annoying.

Lori - hate her in both.

Sunday's episode was pretty...intense. I thought for sure someone was gonna get killed, between The Governor going all supervillain on Andrea and Tyrese is it? rebelling against the 'biter' pit...but yeah that cat and mouse scene between Andrea and Philip was great. Haha, how the hell did she manuever that behind the door move? :laff: Why did the ending turn me on a little... :O_o:

Lol @ Martinez starting to second guess his fearless leader. Hooray for "extra" Karen, will Carl have a new mommy in his future now that Rick doesn't see things anymore? We'll have to wait and see...IN OCTOBER

That was kind of an anti-climactic finale. I guess they want the Governor to be a much more long-term villain. I bet we don't see him again though until at least halfway through next season. He needs time to scheme and go even more insane.

I guess I can see them wanting to stay at the prison because it's strong and easy to defend, that said, they could have tried to take up residence in Woodbury now that the Governor's AWOL if they wanted to.  Would have been a lot more comfortable and less depressing...sucks for all the people who moved to the prison from there.

Also, Andrea's clearly an idiot and deserved to die. If she hadn't stopped trying to get the pliers to stare stupidly at Milton literally every five seconds, she would have been totally fine.

My interest in this show is waning. It's still good for the most part, but so much of it feels like unwarranted filler material. The prison story arc could have been handled, completely, in a 13-episode season. Instead, we're getting two 16-episode seasons.

It's just starting to feel a bit same-old and it's not offering me anything that I haven't seen before in countless other zombie and post-apocalyptic films. It isn't helped by how little I like any of the characters. They're all so dull and boring.

I still utterly adore the comic, though. The current Negan story-arc has me completely gripped.

Coldy and I just watched all 3 seasons of this the past week or so. Every day I wake up hoping we're the only people left on the planet, but we're not

I was a little surprised that Marita Covarrubias died. She seemed like one of the stronger characters (although it is survival of the fittest anyway), but I guess those pliers weren't exactly the best things to be trying to stab a corpse's brain with when you were still attempting to free yourself from restraints. Pfft. He could have left a scalpel or something more useful, silly Milton. I bet he did that on purpose.

I really don't like the Gov'nor, which is probably how it's meant to go. Rick is kind of a dick although I think he was starting to stop being a dick. Carl makes me laugh because he's just a boy but he's an adult because he has to be. Lil Ass-kicker will probably be shooting people/zombies like a pro by the time she's a year old. Also, whenever I hear them say 'Carl' I picture an older man, not a little kid (it takes me a while to remember character's names when there's a large ensemble cast...I was getting confused between Dale and Darryl for a while but then Dale died so that made it easier. Ch-ch-ch-chip and Dale, rescue rangers...). Carl just seems like a man's name, but maybe that was the point. :shifty:

I don't know why we hadn't already been watching this show. It's the kind of thing we'd watch. So we watched it.

What did you guys make of the season 4 premiere?

I'm just getting so bored of this show. Nothing was wrong with that episode, particularly, but I mean... blah blah blah, poke zombies through the fence, blah blah blah, new survivor, blah blah blah, oh noes there are more zombies than we thought there were in here.

I've said it before, but this entire prison/Governor story arc should have been done and dusted within a single 13-episode season, but instead, they're spreading it out over two 16-episode seasons.

It's just too much filler and I'm getting bored of it.

The comic is still as fantastic as ever, on the other hand.

Season 3 started out with so much promise after that waste of a second season (A.K.A. "Let's stand around on a farm doing fucking nothing for multiple hours of the viewers' time"), but once it became evident that they weren't going to wrap up the story arc that season, my interest dwindled. This show's structure has always been a little perplexing, but that was just a really, really stupid decision.

As for the season 4 premiere - same old, really. One dimensional characters, boring dialogue, awkward pacing... I WISH I could like the show because the premise (and the source material) is fantastic, but right now it's just "that thing that's huge and I can't quite understand why." The cinematography and visual effects are by far the strongest point.

Yeah.

I completely agree about season 3.

The first few episodes were brilliant. "Sick" might even be a contender for my favourite episode of the series.

Then it just kept on going without anything really happening and, now, here we are.

The first half was great because the show had finally worked out a decent structure and it seemed like its story arc was heading towards an amazing endgame. But then they just kept moving the pieces at random in the back half of season 3 and nothing came of it.   :hmpf:

There's been a virus going around that turns people into zombies since episode 1.

That's the entire premise of the show.
