First episode was very close to the comic, which is good.
Finally no running wanna-be zombies.

The comic been running since October 2003 and is at issue 78 currently.
So for anyone thinking the start in the hospital was a rip off of 28 Days, it wasn't. They had the idea at the same time and didn't know of each other's plans.
Can't wait for the first main characters to die \o/

Whoever started this thread is a genius. Last night's episode was great from a character/drama perspective, but I would have liked more zombie action. And I don't understand why there were no more zombies on the staircase when they went to find Merle. The slow pace of the show has come as quite a surprise to me. The comic was lightning quick. He wakes up, goes to Atlanta, escapes with Glen and then reunites in what, half an issue? (I've read one of the "books" that collects multiple issues, so I'm not sure where the issue breaks are. But everything sure seemed to happen a lot faster in the comic.) So yeah. Even though I love the show so far, it kind of sucks that it's going so slowly when there are only 6 episodes this season. I'm glad it got renewed for season 2 though.

That's because he'd already cut his hand off and bailed. The zombies gave up when they had no more meal ticket. I can understand why the zombies are not as prevalent now as they were in the pilot, and it seems to be an extension of Romero's original design for the Zombie genre. Night of the living Dead and Dawn of the Dead feature much screen time with the characters arguing about survival rather than constant zombie running fun. The threatening hordes only really appear at the beginning and end of the films, and the middle is meant to demonstrate how the people themselves are their own greatest liability. It feels like that's the ground the series wants to trod now, showing the relationships fracturing and people butting heads. There will always be the occasional zombie to ward off but I wouldn't expect the swarms until the end of the season. I really like this series because while it does come inspired from a graphic novel the film making is so lovingly similar to the original Dead films. First there are the character dynamics which I wanted to mention before, and the next is the way the zombies are presented. It's not just that the zombies are the slow and lumbering kind it's not just that they can only be killed by a blow to the head, the shows creators remembered to add the pivotal part of zombie horror: Feasting. There is a weekly show on television where you can actually tune in and watch a horde of zombies not only eviscerating a horse, but then eating the horses guts on screen. They did it again with the last episode showing in full detail that one zombie chewing on deer lung. It's pretty damn R-rated gory if you ask me, and I love it. We haven't seen human guts yet, but I am certain they'll be willing to go with that level of gore and commitment to the genre. It's so true to the genre, that it's like watching Night of the Living dead: the series. Love this show.

Really cool episode. Great plot twist with the gang. And loved the ending, reminds me of the comic a lot. Everyone can die, no one is save. Really hope they go with the death of Lori and then new born baby like they did in the comic, that'll hit the viewers hard
