Suckerpunch I do not know how to grade this. It was well made, well acted, the visuals were awesome, and the plot was really interesting, but holy crap did it bum me out. I don't know what I was expecting from this movie, but Jesus Christ a movie has never put me in such low spirits like that before (especially because I wasn't expecting it).
?
So it lived up to its name, eh?
Yes it was quite the suckerpunch...TO MY EMOTIONS! Suckerpunch I do not know how to grade this. i agree.
must've been the ending... to me, that was really the only low point of the movie. and changed the badassness of everything.
You know it just really knocked me off my feet. I was expecting one of the girls to die, I figured it would either be Rocket or Sweetpea. But the fact that all of them except Sweetpea died shocked me. And the stepfather gets away with his crime. And it made me wonder how Blondie and Amber actually died in the asylum.

Didn't FOX have to bribe theaters into showing Star Wars by only offering The Other Side of Midnight to those who agreed to present both?

$10 million for Star Wars was low budget in 1977. Lrn2money, Faze.
No u! Wikipedia says Star Wars was $11 million, ha! It also says about Ran: "With a budget of $12 million, it was the most expensive Japanese film ever produced up to that time." So it was mainstream, just mainstream Japan style.

Ohhh yeah. I could understand Rocket dying, as that goes along nicely with the movie. I still believe Blondie and Amber were actually fatally shot. I also hated how it's like "maybe this isn't my story, but someone else's"... Completely takes away from the main protagonist's role in the movie and reduced it to nothing, even if it was a sacrifice.

Did Monsters involve monsters, or was it one of those metaphorical titles?

Like in Manos: The Hands of Fate, where the entire vacationing family story just serves as a background for the main plot, which is about the couple snogging in their car.

Well, that's good. If I see a movie called "monsters," I want monsters falling out of trees. I went to see Monster with Charlize Theron...big letdown...in more ways than one.

It hurts me to see you continually consumed by your sick samurai fetish.
You have no honour sir, I suggest you commit seppuku immediately!
I might watch a Bill Murray movie next, Quick Change, which he co-directed, maybe that will shut ya up!
How does it compare to his <sarcasm> wonderful </sarcasm> film The Razor's Edge?

HopI wonder if they deliberately set out to make a movie with as little internal consistency as possible? Grade: CRioToo much filler, too many ancillary characters, (so consequently) not enough attention paid to the story arc of the two main characters. Darker in places than I would have anticipated but it did look gorgeous. Grade: B

Hmmm, interesting. So what was the genesis of that idea, winna?

Just watched the whole night Star Trek, to be detailed Star Trek VI in the evening. ASaw it the first time (shame on me, it cabled+sattelited last year too and I missed it) . Now I can be happy because I also have this great milestone of science-fiction on video! And through the night I watched Star Trek Voyager, but I don't think it's that great. TOS entertains me a lot more.
