That remix made my ears bleed... it's horrible.
I KNEW Disney was going to do that sooner or later, its the main reason why i didn't see it until now, it proves don't judge a movie by the commercials, disney has a butt that won't quit :laff:

At least Miyazaki-san forbids them to edit any of the actual movie... they wanted to cut a lot of movies to make them more kid-friendly and eliminate some of the messages  :shifty:

I Am Sam

Goddamnit I cried. I cried a lot. But this movie really is wonderful. Sean Penn is absolutely fantastic as Sam, and the rest of the cast are wonderful as well.

Happy ending, wonderful movie, something I only JUST got around to seeing after so many years of only seeing the end,

it gets an A from me.

Decent suspense movie, a couple of scenes will make you jump. Nice twist ending, though I totally predicted it.

You think M. Night Shama-lama-dingdong saw this?

I watched a bit of Hackers earlier tonight, oh man when you're 12 that is the coolest shiiiiit, but after getting a Comp. Sci. degree and using computers for 14 years it is so damn hilarious! :laff:

I finally got to see Despicable Me the other day. I thought it was pretty good though I was disappointed that the fart gun didn't show up again later in the movie. Oh, well.

I see that someone has actually published a (real life) version of the Three Sleepy Kittens story book.

Evidently it was not Chekhov's fart gun.

Machete
Everything I expected, Machete himself a man of few words but excellent at avenging various things with pointy objects, Jessica Alba and Michelle Rodriguez and briefly Cheech Marin back him up nicely.
Jeff Fahey is a great bad guy aide to Robert DeNiros evil senator, and Don Johnson and Steven Segal also in the rogues gallery.
Slightly disappointed with most of the action being already shown in the trailers, but I guess that's all they had to start with from the Grindhouse trailer in the first place and everything else was built up around it... but hey, half-nekkid Jessica Alba: totally worth it!

She only has a small part, and a hint of a nipple or two appear but she has some good lines that reference her real life escapades too.

Cyrus
John (C Reilly) is seven years divorced from his wife (Catherine Keener) and is having trouble adjusting to his new life. After meeting Molly (Marissa Tomei) at a party, he thinks that maybe he has found the perfect person again. There's just one problem: Cyrus (Jonah Hill), Molly's grown son. John must find a way to make his romance with Molly work despite intentional and unintentional interference by Cyrus. (copy pasta'd from Wiki, lol)
Anyway, it's a comedy drama, sounds like Stepbrothers a bit but much darker, everyone's acting straight there's no Will Ferrell style antics in this one, but there are some comedic parts. I enjoyed it.

Don't Look Now (1973)

Was about some blind woman that could see the future. That's were the fun ends!
The movie was too slow and the ending was a bit lame. The movie didn't need 30 mins of sex with two ugly people.

*IMDBs* that's a pretty decent sex scene from what I remember, although Donald Sutherland isn't exactly a hunk.

Anyway,
Predators
Just the right amount of cheesy lines and silly badass movie clichés.
And it did feel like a Predator movie, the music cues, Jungle claustrophobia, minigun shredding trees, etc.
Maybe there were too many actors to deal with though, some of them woefully underused, like Danny Trejo (he's Machete ffs!), and others woefully unnecessary like Topher Grace.
I liked the Yakuza guy vs. Predator sword fight though, great "who would win in a blank vs blank fight?" type of thing.

Monsters
Low budget Cloverfield meets War of the Worlds set in Mexico.
A NASA probe sent into our solar system to gather lifeform samples crashes in northern Mexico and infects the area with strange and deadly creatures so is closed off and quarantined.
In one of the several attacks of the creatures a girl is injured and a photographer hired by her father is sent to escort her back home.

Reminds me of Moon in that small budget indie way, not concerned with big CGI set-pieces but more character driven.

Moon is awesome in the same way Monsters is awesome, it's not flashy and over the top in the "OMG THE DANGER IS RIGHT BEHIND US, LIKE 3 FEET, 2 FEET, AAAH IT GOT JIMMY!" kind of way Cloverfield/War of The Worlds was.

It's no Moon (heheheh), which I rated higher I think, but it's good.

The Town
Ben Affleck directs and stars in this bank robber heist movie as the anti-hero everyman.
Jeremy Renner plays his friend and the more typical robber who is a little bit more out of control and violent, and then there's two other guys in the crew.
When they rob a bank and take a hostage and the FBI (Jon Hamm) get on to them, things start getting messy when Affleck falls for the hostage (Rebecca Hall) who lives in his neighborhood.
The lovely Blake Lively is pretty good in it too as a trashy sister of Renners character, and Pete Postlethwaite as the job planner is quite menacing.

Excellently crafted, acted and directed.

A Series of Unfortunate events.
This movie was OK, but the acting was terrible and the fact that there was daft humour in there really hurt the dark setting that the film was trying to create. Billy Connolly makes a cameo, though.

How To Train Your Dragon
Ehh, I'm too lazy to write about this, it was cool I guess, lots of shwooo, whooosh flying, kepow fireysplosions, and Scottish accented Vikings (eh?)
So, if you watch one CGI dragon movie this year, make it this one!
I'd love an illustrated dragon guide btw *searches Amazon*

Ninja Assassin....I downloaded the movie to my computer and after 40 minutes into the movie, I could not take it any more.  It was horrible!  Even though it is over-the-top violently disgusting, you are not put off by it since you feel NO connection to any of the characters.  I found the movie really slow.  All you see is the main character training, or short bits of how he was trained.  And then there is some side story with some investigators...but they are barely introduced and it feels like you are joining them midway through their investigation (ie so you can't really get into what they are doing/trying to do).

Maybe it got better later on, but my feeling is, if it's really bad 40 minutes into the movie, then there's a good chance the rest of it is bad as well.

If I were seeing it in the theaters, I would have walked out.

I hadn't been overly impressed by the trailers but it wasn't as bad as I feared it would be.

Gran Torino

Finally watched it and it is really, really good...well deserving of the nominations/awards it got.  Usually I am worried about watching a Clint Eastwood movie because they are either hit or miss.  This one was definitely a hit.
