I'm betting Widmore himself was the leader of The Others before Ben (going by how he was acting in Jughead, he seemed to be one of the higher-ranking Others, just not in charge yet). Ben took over or usurped his position somehow, which is how they've become enemies.

And Jin is totally alive.

@Slackit: I am basing my knowledge on nothing but watching the episodes. I don't indulge in any online research or spoilers, nothing more than PEEL and very rarely the lostpedia. So, unless you know something I don't, I am standing by my statement!

Yeah look, haha, but with that being said... he's probably alive... particularly with the whole looking-at-the-grave-stone thing last season and until we actually see him dead, then we'll never know. It's a typical Lost thing to do. But I don't wanna buy into it!! I wanna believe he's totally dead
It would be cooler if he "faked" his death and Sun, and everyone, still thinks he's dead but he's in hiding or working for Ben or something. muahuahua that'd be better.

Young whidmore was a bit of a jerk, yeah? I mean, he's constantly "knowing better" than Richard and carrying on... alot of friction there. What do you suspect it going ot happen?

I don't know if Jin is alive, I'll tend to believe Slackit, but he's in 7 more episodes according to IMDB, and not listed as "credit only" as in the recent episodes, so unless they all have flashbacks containing him....

Beam! Ben doesn't directly take the island from Widmore, he just sorta inherits it further down the track!

Also, for the season 5 production pics, there was no Jin, again i'm sure he's coming back this season, but I don't think it'll be in the "I survived the explosion and swam ashore" capacity. Also, i don't think Claire is in the season. Also, Christian Shepard and Charles Widmore are "Guests" this season but they may be bumped up to the title credits next season.

It doesn't really matter whether Jin is dead or alive. He will be back. Being dead on the island, according to the producers, is "relative." Take Christian Shepherd for instance. He's been dead since before the show even started yet he's been in tons of episodes.

Actually, that makes me wonder.  Did he really visit Hurley, or was that Hurley's imagination?  Not only has Hurley seen people that aren't really there, but Walt has magically appeared to others in the past (Locke, Shannon)

That's true, but I don't think he would have imagined Walt's grandmother, whom he had never met before. Hurley usually "sees" people he knows (Dave, Charlie, Eko, Ana Lucia, etc).

What I do wonder, though, is why Locke visited Walt. Does Walt need to go back to the island too? Probably not judging by the way the conversation between Walt and Hurley went...Walt assumed Michael was still alive and didn't mention to Hurley that they needed to go back, which I'm sure Locke would have stressed to him. Why then did Locke visit Walt? Did he send him to Hurley?

Yeah...  There's No Place Like Home Parts 2 & 3, Season 4 finale...  Hurley is in mental institution and a black lady comes up to visit Hurley and says "Are you dangerous? We drove all the way across the country so my grandson could see you and I want to make sure you don't do anything crazy." or something like that and then she steps aside and Walt is behind her.

During the conversation Walt says "I've been waiting for someone to come visit me but nobody did. But do you know who did visit me? Jeremy Bentham." Who, of course, is Locke.

Claire's son he was born on the island Kate is watching him and pretending like she's his mother he has blonde hair and his lines are usually "Mommy?" (he thinks Kate really is his mother he was an infant when he left the island) he has been protrayed by countless numbers of babies throughout the show's history interesting tidbit: the psychic told Claire if he was "Raised by Another" (the title of that episode) he would turn out to be a demon child or something like that which is exactly what is happening (NOT the demon part! the part about being raised by another) extra tidbit he is Jack's nephew since Claire is his half-sister.

Rousseau didn't kill all of her people.  The others did.  If Jin stays with them and doesn't bump into the other crew (which may have figured out that it was Rousseau's time and be spying because of the french on the box) it's likely that the time warp will happen again before the Frenchies die.  Cuz, they lived long enough to put out that broadcast and for Alex to be born.

Rousseau told Sayid she killed all of her people because they went crazy due to the "Sickness" (time jumps? Effects of coming through the wrong bearing like what happened to Minkowski? Why did I put this in spoiler tags?

Rousseau was the only one to put out the broadcast. In it she said "they're all dead."

However I have read a different theory that sounds plausible:

Since Jin isn't ON the island he is stuck in another time. Remember after the first jump Sawyer noticed that the smoke from the freighter was gone? Either the freighter didn't travel with them but Jin (who couldn't have been far from it as it exploded less than a minute before the island disappeared) did, or Jin and the freighter wreckage (a piece of which he was floating on when found in the ocean) jumped to a DIFFERENT time and is stuck in that time since it is too far away from the island. So if Jin is stuck in 1988 and Rousseau killed all of her team.....

Hopefully I'm wrong though and Jin will jump again. But the bit about the freighter being gone from Sawyer and Juliets time but still with Jin is weird.

Bear: I think the explosion could have shot him far off.  Besides, I think the explosion happened before sawyer even reached the island, so jin would have had plenty of time to float.

Plus, it seems as though "physical things" like backpacks, boats, only "jump" if someone is attached to it.  The boat could have been in the radius, but because everyone on it was dead, they didnt jump, and therefore the boat didnt either.

Added note: Walt went from being a major character in this show to doing a commercial for like microwaved buffalo wings.  Poor Walt

Wow, did he really? That's terrible. Are you sure it was a real commercial and not a fake Lost-created commercial like that one for Octagon Global Recruiting (I actually laughed at that and told everyone how ridiculous it was...I thought it was real )
