Why use hard work when you can work hard to create the illusion of hard work?

Yes, but ze subtlety, she iz alzo sub-ject-teeve. "Futurama" has regular amputations and semi-regular decapitations ("I'm okay!" , sexual shinanigans left and right, and the occasional belch, fart, turd or intestine gag. There's nothing wrong with that, but surely even on network TV there are things more subtle than that. It is the difference between apples and oranges. Both taste good, but either one can sting your eyes with their squirting juices. ------------------ From Francis Ford Coppola's remake, Plan IX From OuterSpace: BrainSluggo: "You see! You see! Your stupid minds! Stupid! Stupid!" Nixorbo: "That's all I'm taking from you!" (Decks him.) Tweek (as played by Al Gore): "Get back, you fool! You foolish fool!" [-mArc-]: "God help us...in the Future."

Regular amputations? When was the last one since "Put Your Head on My Shoulder" or "Why Must I Be a Crust . . ." (whichever came last)?

Futurama is by far my favorite show but south park cums in second, although I’ve missed most of the last 2 seasons. A lot of the recent south park episodes have been crap but some are good like the one where cartman tricks some kid into eating his parents. I don’t really see why so many people hate south park, there are far more annoying things that deserve your hatred like MITM and about a million sitcum clones and reality shows, those are the real enemy.

Eh, whattaya gonna do. Just my opinion, of course, but I think when someone says "South Park" is all crap jokes or lacks subtlety, they really mean "it's a bit over-the-top in the gross-out department for my tastes." And that's fine. That's exactly why I watch it, but it's not for everyone, no more than "Futurama" is for dried-up old bats who hate everything but Judge Judy (cough). Different strokes for different folks--which is what I wrote way back when a couple of brain-balls came firing at me with their electric tentacles... Priest: (to Wall of Prophecy) "We will read things off you and do them." Worshippers: "We're dumb." ( Now Who's Subtle?)

Marge: What happened to your hands? Man: (whispering) boating accident. Skinner: I beleive it was a boning accident. I have to go now. I know he said something else but still

Not aimed at anyone, just an anecdote: My local newspaper TV critic is a pompous fat jerk who constantly refers to himself as "we" ("We think The Simpsons is better than ever!!"), seems to love animation, but neglected Futurama in favor of Family Guy.
He was totally into South Park--I mean, he almost got on his knees and worshipped Cartman--right up to the point Parker & Stone pulled the infamous April Fools' Gag. He had been making serious predictions about the outcome of the cliffhanger--"I'm sure it's Uncle Jimbo!! I'd bet money on it!!"--and publicly s*** his pants when he realized he made a fool of himself. Ever since, he has never passed up a chance to tell everyone the show is "so over" and "all dried up." And every time I read it I laugh, because he still watches but pees on it in a desperate attempt to cover his shame--all over a minor event we'd have forgotten about if he didn't keep reminding us.
(*The April Fools' Gag, for those who don't watch, was the switcheroo they pulled when airing the second half of a two-part cliffhanger about the identity of Cartman's dad. Instead of the second half--scheduled for April 1st--they deliberately ran an unrelated episode featuring Terrance & Phillip and none of the regular cast, with a title card reading "APRIL FOOLS." [They ran the second part the following week.] Can you believe this?--THEY GOT DEATH THREATS. Please. Anyone who could read a calendar should've seen it coming. They parodied the ridiculous backlash in a later T&P-related episode.)
P.S. The show's ratings have gone up twenty percent since Kenny "disappeared"/remained dead. They have since whacked another character, as a last-second, no-warning throwaway gag.

The "Terrance and Phillip" special was pretty funny, now people wish CC would repeat it, apparently they have said they won't.
