They're also making a live action Akira movie. Starring Leo DiCap!

I think Keanu Reeves gets really good roles in really good movies... but yeah, I agree with the sentiment on not making this movie... although I will have to watch it when it comes out.

Also... you're fucking gay Books.  Faggot.

Unfortunately Winna, he was telling the truth. Leonardo Dicaprio will be in a live-action Akira as Kaneda, and he's one of the producers. It will be set in America, not Japan. Stupid arseclowns.

Keanu Reeves gets roles that his 'talent' does not justify.

You know what sucks? when they cross anime with real life adaptions. It is going to suck.

Hilariously, the NGE movie is never going to get made still.

An NGE movie would at least work alright, maybe....

Yea, someone brought up the CB thing in the rant thread. I agree that Keanu should not keep getting the chance to play as awesome characters, he hasn't really earned it in my mind....
That DBZ movie has been "getting made" for like 8 years now, hasn't it?
Remaking something as amazing as Akira seems to me to be impossible. I don't care how good the CGI is, it will almost certainly end up sucking.

I like Keanu Reeves, maybe thats wrong, but i enjoy watching his movies, i wouldnt say hes the best. He is a very unique actor, and I mean that in the best way.  I guess what im saying is, when you watch one of his movies, you know what to expect. I loved him in the matrix and constantine. I think we  should wait and see. Maybe he'll do really good. Besides its rumored so maybe he wont even be in the movie.  As far as anime  being made into live movies, just give it a chance. Maybe well be impressed, or maybe we'll go home crying because they butchered it. You never know, its a risk im willing to accept.

My Project A-ko remake script remains gathering dust.

I really should edit it some more though...'yaknow...just in case.

I won't spend hours of my time whining about this, but geez. Totally stupid. Totally unnecessary. Why would Hollywood do this?

The only plus is that it might get more people exposed to the anime version of Cowboy Bebop, which has gotta be, like, the best TV series ever.

I would prefer to see a second season of the anime rather than a live action movie.
Wantanabe could work it so that Spike isn't dead, but is leading the Red Dragon Syndicate in place of dearly departed Vicious... at least initially. It could work. His most recent comment on the matter didn't completely rule out the possibility of a future continuation... I believe his words were "perhaps someday".
Failing that, another anime movie or OVA set mid-series like 'Knockin' on Heaven's Door' would be pretty cool.

Spike's death was way too awesome for him to survive it. You don't just die like that and walk away as if nothing has happened, dammit!

Because Hollywood as a whole has no originality so they regurgitate work from other mediums.

I think making live action movies out of anime might be even worse than making live action video game based movies.  This smells like Double Dragon...

I believe Bebop worked itself out as a one season series with a clear story that had a predefined beginning and end.  Pretty much perfectly.

The movie was pretty good though, and fans will always want more.  I don't have a problem with Keaneau Reeves.  I know his acting seems lacking, but his persona emits an aura about him that allows him to be in these awesome roles....  Also, clearly he must have some taste to pick up the roles in the first place.  I don't like the idea of a live action movie of the series though.... especially not so soon and at this juncture.

They'll make ED a fat teenage boy who is not in any way energetic.

I would not mind seeing who they have in mind for Faye Valentine all dressed up in her outfit. Could be hot.

Its gonna be one big Cosplay fetish movie I hope.

Ed isn't "cool", so I'll bet that she won't appear in the movie, unless it's a cameo or something. They aren't going to involve a kid in the main adventure. Same with Ein. They may have a dog in the background with the name of Ein, but they won't make any mention of his super-brain or whatever.

It's just going to be big guns and big boobs with som occassional Matrixey type camera movements.

And obnoxius product placement. Spike won't fly the swordfish, He'd drive whatever car make is in at the time.

Ooh. The Dodge Bebop. I like the sound of that. And when Spike complains about being poor/hungry, he can talk about how hungry he is for a BK stacker. There are plenty of oppurtunities for product placement, here. Don't let us down, Hollywood!

My guess about Ed is that she will probably be the sassy computer on the Bebop or at least some bastardised CG monstrosity.

I guess you can say the Japan have been doing this sort of thing for years, that is making a movie that is very different from the series (sometime ignoring the series entirly) c.f Escaflowne, Death note ect. I'm not holding out high hopes for the series but it would be nice if they at least got Yokko Kanno for the sound track.

YA I agree, if they didnt have yoko kanno to do the soundtrack, or at least the original music, i probably wouldnt go see it, that would be a real let down. Cowboy bebop wouldnt be cowboy bebop without her, shes amazing.

so what im gettin from you guys is this is going to be a big moldy pile of shit with boobs. that makes me sad, ya damn hollywood always makin movies based off things and they dont even follow them, that pisses me off, im burin hollywood down, i did not see the death note movie, but i guess that probably sucked too, i wander who the hell would play jill valentine anyway, and jet that for that matter
