I already begun an audio commentary survey in PE stockroom about the Futurama audio commentaries and I began to wonder what people thought of other audio commentaries. So, what ones do you enjoy? What ones you don't? Why? Are they better than Futurama? etc.

I really enjoy the My name is Earl audio commentaries as all the cast and crew members are extremely funny. However I don't enjoy the south park commentaries as they keep them short about (5) minutes so not all that is relevant or funny is said.

Yeah, SP is too short. I refuse to believe that there are people who don't want full commentaries.

I listen to every audio commentary. Even if it's just the Director of Photography, or the costume designer.

They could have a commentary of just the key grip and the the craft services guy, and I would still watch it.

I used to listen to all the audio commentaries but now I rarely bother.

Simpsons ones are good. Arrested Development ones were brilliant. Other than that, I rarely bother with them.

(Futurama goes without saying, of course)

I've watched most of the Stargate commentaries even though they're pretty much all by directors and writers Peter DeLuise might be my favorite commentator ever. I also love that they're all Canadian. One of the best commentaries ever was the hobbit actors track on the Fellowship of the Ring, It should have been all them. Joss Whedon is interesting to listen to as well

I must know- how does that work? Do they talk in the beginning and then cut to the standard audio track after five minutes?

Bingo.
And many times they apologize for talking so long...
They act like it's an inconvenience for us to listen to them talk about an episode for 5 minutes.

They did full commentaries for Season 1 and they were pretty fucking dull. Though the mini-commentaries just aren't enough. I don't see why they don't bring more people into the commentaries with them. Surely that'd liven them up.

Ah, apparently they're on CDs.

Yeah, they recorded them for Season 1 but Paramount refused to put them on the DVD for a completely retarded reason (bashing of the movie Contact). So they got released on a CD instead. I'm not sure if the CD's still being distributed though, I just got them from  www.southparkstuff.com .

Both commentaries for "The Simpsons Movie" are pretty good. Especially the director's one.

Spoilered since I know it hasn't been released everywhere yet.

Second. Also, I'm not sure what was more disturbing...the interruptions or Yeardley Smith. What a weird voice...

I only did it because at other boards (eg. No Homers) people don't want to even know what the special features are like before they get their own copy, so I spoilered it just for the sake of people not having a sad over it like they do over there. But I guess nothing's good enough for you, eh?

The commentaries for Mr. Show are pretty great, if you can't get enough of David Cross, Bah Bodenkirk and friends (which I can't). The one thing that does annoy me from time to time is when Bob does the drama coach guy voice and they just BS for a while. Sometimes it's actually funny, but generally I prefer amusing (or not) behind the scenes anecdotes.

As has already been said regarding commentary, Simpsons are good, Arrested Development is brilliant (and far too few), and Futurama goes without saying.

EDIT: Oh, and the commentaries for The Office (US) are great too -- Rainn Wilson is pretty hilarious, as is the rest of the cast and crew, really. The Office (UK) commentaries would probably also be good, if there were any.

I enjoy the Futurama audio commentaries, of course.

And I also like watching the Pokemon audio commentaries, on movies 1, 3, and 4.  Some interesting stuff there, indeed.  ^^

I haven't watched it with the commentary yet, but hopefully Superbad will be good.

I've only seen commentaries on Simpsons and Futurama and I think they're great. I've listened to all the Futurama commentaries except for Season 3, I only listened to around half the commentaries. The Simpsons ones I haven't listened to much but I do when I get the chance. They're great.
