I bought the DVD (it was, like 4 quid from Amazon).  There's an English track, with Jonathan Pryce, Daniel Craig and Catherine MacCormick providing voices.

I've not watched it yet, but I'm gonna over the next few days.

Also: Hellboy: The Golden Army trailer Red is back.   :D

Though Burton DID rip it from the comics, it would be cool if Joker got infected in a different from ironic way than usual. He still is just wearing make up, his mind is there but the horrible unchangible grin, natural green hair and skin palette of a shut in Goth aren't properly there yet.

The Bank Robbery Teaser proves Mentally, he meets the evil insane bastard requirement. Still, this Joker reeks of scary intimidation which I like.

The Day The Earth Stood Still - December 2008

I loved the Original and can understand a remake. I just hope they don't screw it up.

p.s. I not sure about Keanu Reeves as Klaatu.

So I finally got around to seeing the Hellboy 2 trailer.  Looks like wacky fun.  Stargate fans, is it just me or did the elves evolve from the Iratus bug, too?

Speaking of Stargate:
Somebody tell me that Emmerich's new film (10.000 BC) is not some sort of prequel to Stargate.

not as far as I know, and the producers of SG have expressed a strong dislike for prequels.

Can we make spoofs illegal? Please? Who in the hell would want to see that piece of shit? Don't answer that, Juliet. I'd rather watch the real 300.

No, Don't make spoofs illegal! Then we wouldn't have Spaceballs. We should just make stupidity illegal. Although then we'd have to arrest 95% of the people on Earth.

I haven't seen any trailers yet but has anybody heard anything about Valkyrie? That's supposed to be good.

The spoof genre died after Hot Shots Part Deux.  After that, spoofs stopped trying to mock the foibles of different types of movies and more concerned with cramming as many pop culture references surrounded by dick jokes into 90 minutes.

Actually, I'm tempted to say they died with Spaceballs, but I love Spaceballs and enjoy the Hot Shots movies, so nyah.

Take Airplane!, Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, etc and compare them to anything from Scary Movie on.  There's really no competition.

OK, Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz (I assume, it's on my list of things to see) get a pass, since they try to be real movies.

Any Spoof by Mel Brooks is a given great.

Meet the spartins is not a spoof its just crap. And its not sticking with a spoof of the movie, their also including real life things witch makes it even more shit.

Raise Hot Fuzz's position on that list immediately.  Another great, non-Mel Brooks spoof is Team America (fuck yeah).  And I don't know if Major League counts as a spoof, but it was pretty good.

I agree with the assertation that Scary Movie-esque spoofs these days are less parodies and more pop culture mashups.  That's not to say there's anything wrong with a pop culture mashup except for the fact that they suck ass repeatedly and powerfully.

The fact o' the matter is any 300 spoof is going to have the ignominious fate of being preceded by a billion horrible YouTube spoofs.
