I know I can't be the only one who watches this show.  Well if you're not familiar with it, this what basically happens.

They pretend to be underaged teens in a chat room and wait for sexual predators to contact them.  Then they invite the predator over, when the predator expects to find a underage teen, they find Chris Hansen.  He ask them questions basically like "WTF is wrong with you?" and "You know you're a sick pervert, right?".  Then he says his line "I'm Chris Hansen from Dateline NBC and we're doing an investigation on adults who meet underage teens for sex."  The cameras come out and predator is embarrassed and leaves.  Once he leaves the cops come and arrest him on the spot.

They've been doing this for like 4 years I think and they still catch these people.  I kind of feel sorry for these dudes.  Yeah they're sick, but they are getting set up.  They get arrested for just showing up at the house.  These dudes have serious problems, but I see it like - They're hungry, there is some undercooked steak, they know they shouldn't eat it, but its right there.  Then the get arrested just for picking up the fork.  To me these dudes are like predators in training.  I think there should be more attention on the sick criminals who kidnap innocent kids right off the street.  Those dudes are real monsters.

I'm not a parent, so maybe thats why I don't fear these dudes as much.  I think people need to watch their little freaky 13 year old, who is inviting these guys over and telling him to bring condoms and stuff.

Don't get it twisted, I in no way support these predators, I just pity them.  Its an entertaining show, last week this dude got tasered when he tried to run.  The show comes on NBC on tuesday at 8:00 EST.

Isn't that entrapment?
Or is there a loophole because a camera crew are doing it?

TV is still getting worse.  :nono:

I don't know everyone on the show gets arrested for "Attempting a lude act with a minor".  But it seems like entrapment to me.

The predators are getting smarter.  One dude sent an underaged lookout boy to scan the house, before he went in.  He still got arrested, but at least he had a plan.

One predator worked for Nickelodeon at the time of his arrest.  Nickelodeon sent out a statement saying he no longer works for them and he didn't have any contact with kids during his time there.  He was working with computers or something.  A lot of the predators on the show end up being software engineers.

But the pervs are the ones who initiate conversation.

Yeah the pervs are not innocent, just stupid.

That Dateline show kicks ass! I wonder who are really pervs and who are just actors they paid.

Actors?  The only actors are the decoys who are supposed to be underaged.  I don't think anyone wants that kind of exposure.

Fun fact: former PEEL poster Mango was actually Chris Hansen in disguise!

I kind of agree with LayZ. Dateline has taken the most despicable of all human beings and somehow unintentionally made me almost feel sorry for them.

Most of the guys don't seem like they truly seek out children...they are just really really stupid guys who are also really really horny. So they go to a chatroom for some wanking material, and then when they get some 14 year old talking about all the things they'll let them do to her, they get so excited that they don't realize how obvious a set-up it is and get arrested. What a sad life.

That said, despite how shoddy the "journalism" is, I always watch To Catch A Predator if it's on while I'm channel surfing. Some of the weirdos they catch are absolutely hilarious. I especially liked the goofy marine who says "sweet!". The foreigners who don't understand what's going on are pretty good too.

The thing that pisses me off the most is that this is what I used to do with my spare time. I would pretend to be an 11 year old girl on instant messenger--every time I signed on, I would be swarmed with IMs. Some of the guys I would get to "meet" me at the local Denny's. Of course, I'd never show, but it was always funny to think of some idiot pervert waiting hours for an eleven year old girl at Denny's. I can't believe these Dateline folks are raking in millions doing basically the same stuff that I used to do just for a laugh.

You should join Perverted Justice, you would be getting paid for teasing and setting up losers.  That has to be at least in the top 100 occupations.

I know, it just made the predators look even more pathetic.

I love how the cops have infrared beams, I just can't wait until they start putting snipers on the roofs.

It's only entrapment if the cops (or someone acting on their behalf...like Dateline) provide the criminal thought.  They can provide the opportunity for a crime but can't be the ones to supply the idea.

PreTeenSteamQueen: ZOMFG!  I want some creepy, old guy to ram his hot schwatz right up my virginal, vaginal cavity.  teehee
kidfuccer69: I'm a creepy old guy (with a huge wiener), and I will totally have illegal, underage sex with you.
Now, that's entrapment.  Your perv goes free and, depending on how rich and famous he is, probably into rehab.

Now that would net you a good arrest.  In no time at all, Chris Hanson would be dragging this guy out of his Trans Am/white panel van and beating him with the mallet of TV justice.

I don't watch the show.  I saw the segment a few times a while back, but if you've seen one horny perv tricked into thinking he was going to screw some kid to instead be treated into a shocking interview and arrest with complimentary turf sandwich, you've seen them all.

Well, I found out tonight that you don't even have to show up at the house to get arrested in Texas.  This reminds me of the "Minority Report" movie.  You're chatting with some 13 year old and then the cops bust through your door and arrest you for attempting to have sex with her.  Now you can ruin your life without even leaving your chair.

Man, I can't believe that the ADA's sister was blaming the police for his suicide.  All they did was just knock on the door, he should have just answered.  That guy just knew his life was over and killed himself.  You can't blame the messenger.
