Bump
Last night I watched a bit of the South Park: Imaginationland Trilogy on ParaComdy. Yeah it was great that they showed all three episodes in the row. I want to get the USA dvd Of the South Park: Imaginationland movie because I heard that it is the uncut version.

Juliet, all the DVD's (well, as of Season 11, anyway) are going to be uncut now. Yes, I'm still going to get this particular DVD for the extra footage and bonus features, but that's because I'm an overly obsessive fan. If all three parts are on the Season 11 DVD too (which they will be), it's really not worth most people owning both.
Anyway, Season 12 premiere aired yesterday! I'll try to avoid spoilers here because I really don't want to take away from the plot's shock value for anyone who hasn't seen it. It's far from the best South Park episode ever, but it's definitely one that every good fan NEEDS to watch.
1201 - Tonsil Trouble
Man... Definitely one of South Park's more extreme episodes. Not to the extent of Scott Tenorman Must Die, of course (after all, that's one long build-up to an incredibly shocking end, whereas the more shocking moments of this episode all happen early on), but still... Holy shit. That's quite possibly the worst thing Cartman's ever done. The extremity of it alone made the whole thing hilarious. Nice to see they took it somewhat more seriously than they usually take episodes - understating the situation really would have robbed it of all its humour.
The ending was kind of retarded, though. As much as I loved the bit in Africa, the whole thing seemed like one huge cop-out. Granted, they needed a way out of the situation, but surely they could've done better than that? Oh well, it was still a solid episode, and a great (and strange) way to start the season.
8/10

Yeah, that really was... extreme. Wow. Still, I thought this was a great episode. The only real downside to me was that I had Cheeseburger In Paradise stuck in my head all night.

It had a few funny moments, but boy did it go downhill in the last half. After it ended, I actually said aloud, "What the hell was that shit?"
Man, what a weak follow-up to last week's great episode.

After doing my research on what this episode was referencing, I've grown to appreciate the ending of this episode a bit more, but I still think it's pretty average. Aside from all the jokes about everyone being completely focussed on the most trivial things about Britney (overdone, but still funny), there was little fun to be had here. Butters and Cartman were abandoned with no pay-off to their storylines (quite unusual for South Park too, you'd have thought that the Butters/squirrel thing would at least go somewhere) and all the potential that the episode had was just lost.
Season 12's got a dark and disturbing tone about it so far. 1201 and 1202 have both stayed in my mind long after I first watched them... Don't get me wrong, sometimes this show's more fucked up episodes are among the best (Scott Tenorman Must Die, anyone?), but it's far more effective when done sparesly and these sort of episodes catch you off guard. Hopefully this won't be a trend for the rest of the season.

Last night's episode was awful. The beginning was funny but it went sharply downhill after they left the hospital. I'm not sure what the corn harvest thing was based off of but it was just too silly for my tastes.
