I usually don't care about these minor things but I seriously cringed at the end joke. It wasn't even a joke, it was just here's some dialogue oh, let's stop the show right here. Terrible. And is it just me or has Bart's voice really changed?

Was that the Night at the Museum thing? I thought that was kind of funny, actually. I agree that it was a lousy place to end the episode, but had it been part of an earlier scene I think it would have been fine.

My main gripe with the episode isn't that it was unfunny (though it was tame and boring, which is as good as being unfunny)--it's that the story itself has been done much more successfully in the past. We get that Bart is a prankster with a heart of gold, and that he often forms bonds with the very authority figures he claims to hate. I guess I didn't see the point in him forging a relationship with Chalmers, when an episode about him and Edna or him and Skinner would have been just as interesting.

I don't agree with pairing up characters who've never really been paired before just for the hell of it. Especially when the story itself seems really uninspired and derivative.

Trouble with The recent Simpsons negotiations, apparently money row could end The Simpsons. Could Season 23 be the last season?...

I wouldn't be sad if it ended.

Maybe then I would even consider buying DVD sets :laff:

The movie was like watching a beached whale give one long, drawn out, anguished moan, yet years later, the thing is still moving slightly for some explicable reason.  Sometimes it grunts, sometimes it moves a flipper but not much.  It's still alive, but you wish it wasn't for both its sake and yours.

I didn't care for the movie at all.  It's possible that I got so disinterested after a bit that I might not have fully appreciated better gags toward the end.

The Simpsons Movie was great. Not as good as the show in its prime, but way back to season 10 or 11 or so's quality. The best thing they'd made in the last 10 years.

I'd like the show to end so that they can just pump out new Simpsons movies every now and then.

Just watch seasons 1 to around 10-ish those were the best years. I have seasons 11-13 and season 20 on dvd because my parents gave them to me. I hardly watch those ones because it's like watching an old friend die a painful death for the most part.

The movie was ok. Better than the new ones but not as good as the old ones.

@ Bend-err below me (edited after the fact) God I'm a moron, forget I posted that link. Yahoo covered the Simpsons money issues already and I missed the link. Part of me isn't shocked really. It's had a great run, and honestly if this ended poorly and cancelled Simpsons, I hate to say it, but it might be for the better.

I don't get the hate for The Simpsons Movie, it seemed perfectly fine to me and far better than the series was at its current state when it came out. It's not perfect, but it's damn good and I look at it as falling somewhere between the classics and the new, it has its own feel, perhaps how the series should feel now really...

More possible bad news. According to this even if it does get renewed then Season 24 will be its last? Although there is another quote later on that contradicts that statement. Am I reading this right? :hmpf:...

The reason that everyone hates the movie is because the writers don't care about Dr. Nick anymore.  Hi everybody!

Hi, Dr. Nick! Also, I loved the movie a whole bunch, and agree that it would have been a great way to end the series.

Otis: It seems like they're either ending the series with season 23 or season 24, and that it's dependent on the actors agreeing or not agreeing to take a pay cut. Though at this point I would have no hang-ups with the series ending, it would kind of suck if they couldn't make it to that quarter-century mark.

I liked it... :shifty:

Also, I tweeted about the Simpsons ending and Eric Rogers responded with:

No. They'll work out a deal for at least one more season. They'll give it the chance to end properly.

I'd be all over a 'Futurama' crossover if they did it as an episode of 'The Simpsons' rather than an episode of 'Futurama' and kept it non-canon as then we'd just be getting more 'Futurama' on top of what we'd otherwise get and if it sucked, it could be ignored along with every other newish episode of 'The Simpsons.

I loved it and thought it was very tastefully done. The artwork was top-notch too. Admittedly I enjoyed the first two most, but all four issues were still good. I liked them enough to not only buy each comic, but to also buy the hardbound book which is excellently presented. As for a real crossover episode, I would have my reservations, but I would be curious and quite interested in the prospect nonetheless...

So people did like it, huh.  As for a legit crossover I'm not sure how I feel about it, considering that the shows aren't canon in each others universes (The Simpsons is just a show in Futurama and vise-verse). I didn't find the crossover story to be that good so I would have considerable doubt about that kind of episode.

I wasn't a fan of the crossover comic, but that's more just because I'm not a fan of the comic.

As I said, I wouldn't like the idea if it would mess with 'Futurama's canon and such, but if it was produced as an episode of 'The Simpsons' - a show that's now got more bad episodes than good, I wouldn't really care if it turned out badly. There's nothing to lose that way, as a 'Futurama' fan.

So it was all a load of shit. They've not only commissioned a 24th season, but a 25th, too and there's no apparant intent for that to be the last.

even if they'd not come to an agreement, fox probably wasn't completely bluffing. I'm sure they really would try to replace the voice cast and carry on. They may yet.

I don't think that's the case, otherwise they would've probably tried it a long time ago.  As it is now, the Simpsons are the characters that voice them.  But I didn't really take this bickering to be serious of anything to be honest; Fox wants to keep that show alive forever.

I don't know how to feel about this, a little shocked as the stories about cancellation seemed so serious. I really thought that Season 24 would be the very last season. I sort of feel happy but dirty for saying it that there will be 25 now. The only reason really is I want 25 seasons on my shelf. I'm also worried that they will go beyond 25 seasons, that would ruin my nice neat number on my shelf. Please no more than 25 seasons, enough is enough!...

Maybe they were worried that if they stopped then Family Guy may have overtaken it one day :shifty:...

Seth MacFarlane has said he doesn't want 'Family Guy' to run too long - in fact, I'm pretty sure at one point he said he didn't want to do any more than 10 seasons. But I'm not sure he has the integrity to follow through with ending the show when it makes him so much money.

I remember Seth MacFarlane saying he didn't want it to go beyond 10 Seasons too, but I don't see it stopping there now either which is why I have to wonder how long it'll go on for. Although admittedly topping The Simpsons would be a very long shot. Having said that when I joined Peel in 2001 and posted in the current Simpsons thread at the time I don't think I or anybody else here thought we would be having these conversations now with the Simpsons still running and no definite end in sight...
