Summary: Heroes is a serial saga about people all over the world discovering that they have superpowers and trying to deal with how this change affects their lives. The relatable superheroes include Peter Petrelli, a 30-year-old male nurse who believes can fly, Diego Medina, a 28-year-old junkie who has the ability to paint images of the future when he is high, Niki Sanders, a 33-year-old Las Vegas showgirl who can do incredible things with mirrors, Hiro Makamura, a 24-year-old Japanese comic-book geek who literally makes time stand still, D.L. Hawkins, a 31-year-old inmate who can transport himself through walls, and Claire Bennet, 17-year-old cheerleader who defies death at every turn. Not only are they discovering what having superpowers means to them but also the larger picture of where their superpowers come from. Eventually their superpowers draw them together when they try to evade the series' antagonist who wants to harness their super-DNA for himself. The series will star Greg Grunberg (Alias), Leonard Roberts (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Milo Ventimiglia (Gilmore Girls), and Hayden Panettiere (Ally McBeal, Guiding Light). Tim Kring (Crossing Jordan, Chicago Hope) is the series' creator. The pilot is set to be directed by Dave Semel (American Dreams, Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, Beverly Hills, 90210) Heroes will be produced by NBC/Universal/Tailwind.

This sounds like it's going to be pretty cool. I saw a commercial for it, in it a man is video taping a woman who jumps off a pretty high bridge, then she gets up, walks to the camera and says, "Atempt 6."

The only problem is it's on the same time as 24, if Heroes is still on in January.

Sounds like it's going to be cancelled very quickly.

I mean, it sounds like an interesting premise, and I'll probably watch any episodes that actually get aired; but there's no way that a show like that is going to last.

But Mutant X was a stupid cheap scifi show on the WB. Unless I'm mistaken.

I think that's actually a point against it.

A stupid, cheap sci-fi show would have a better chance of not getting cancelled.  Remember what Fry said about television.

Hey, I found the thread!

I love this show, and I find it nearly impossible to wait an entire week before episodes. This week's cliffhanger is just really confusing.

So, has anyone else watched this?

Saw this week's, but I came in confused and left still confused, so I dunno what to think yet. Added it to my dvr recording list, as it didn't seem nearly as crappy as most shows.

I absolutly love this show!

What are you guys confused about?  Ive been following it as closly as I can, and Im not confused, so maybe I can answer some questions.

One thing though - Peter Petrelli, what do you guys really think his power is?

A friend of mine thinks that he is able to copy the power of the person around him.  Nathan (his brother) when they were together they were both able to fly, but Peter wasnt able to alone.  Peter also could suddenly see what was missing in the future picture, and actually painted one himself, both times right after being with, or being currently with Issac (the guy who paints the future)

I think it makes sence, but Im not 100% sure because Peter was dreaming of being able to fly before he ever met Issac - so he could have had that power always, and maybe possibly the flying because he mentioned to Nathan that he thought get got out of bed and hovered just a little.

Slackit: Well, I hadn't seen any of the previous episodes, just came in 10 minutes it one night. Saw this week's episode all the way through (DVR is recording it).

I think your friend is right about Peter; he seems to basically be Rogue, but without the whole if-I-touch-you-you-will-die thing. I just started watching and don't know anything about this flying dream; was it a prophetic dream, containing people he hadn't met yet, or just a dream of flying? Flying dreams are pretty common fare, up there with the naked-in-public dream, so it could mean nothing.

Just finished watching the first 6, and it seems quite interesting so far. I like how everything is slowly being connected, which i'm fairly sure there'll be loads more of in the following episodes.

Kryten: I'm guessing so, yah; they haven't introduced anyone he cares much about, so I'm leaning towards "explodes after being killed by a good guy trying to save the day." I may be wrong, he may have family or a love interest who might die instead. You know a human life will be the trigger that destroys the city, one way or another.

But what about the "Save the cheerleader save the world" bit? I have no doubt now that A. Peter Patrelli has Rogue's power, and B. Radioactive dude is going to be the bomb. But what does the cheerleader have to do with all this? Predictions?

I'm not too sure.  But i'm just envisioning this one big ass scene where everyone (who hasn't died or is not a bad guy upto that point) all come together and utilize their powers.  If the radioactive guy isn't too young, I don't see it being too farfetched that he could actually be the cheerleader's real father, or of some relation.  Imagine if her powers got taken away and she was killed.  The radioactive guy gets pissed and completely loses it, explodes.  Hence, Peter needs to save the cheerleader to prevent that from happening.  I come up with too many scenarios in my head.  This is just one of them.

I have Tivo too, and it only cuts off like thrity seconds. If you listened to the conversation mister horn-rimmed glasses has with the "parents" it's obvious that they are just actors that he hired.

Here's my theory on how it all ends, that I came up with after watching the first episode:

Things go horribly, horribly wrong, so Hiro uses his powers to reverse time back to before anyone got their powers.  This time, no one gets any powers, so none of the bad stuff happens.  Hiro is the only one who remembers what happened, so nobody else knows that he saved the world.  But he knows, and for him, that is enough.

Granted, the "save the cheerleader, save the world" thing doesn't seem to fit into my theory, but what if they don't manage to save her?

All in all, it seems to be shaping into a pretty good series,
although a lot of it is extremely predictable, it still seems very fresh.
I like that it tips its hat to the actual comics many of its characters are based on.
Its got Jeph Loeb involved, so somebody's help keep it true to its comic book origins.
At the very least, it may get people who've never read comics interested enough to pick up a few things.

Im really pissed about Peter being arrested.  Claire better stand up for him or something.  And when is Nathen going to stop being such a dick?  Also, HIRO WTF, YOU HAVE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO DO.

I thought the fight scene could have done a little more.  We could have seen Peter atleast show that he absorbed something from Sylar, that would have been cool.  Peter is my favorite, I wish he had more than just absorbtion, like keeping it after he absorbs.
