too much information. Otherwise good news.

apparently 10 eps and the movie are what's planned. Which is excellent. Means they're planning one good arc, rather than trying to just bring it back indefinitely. Series still had legs when it ended, but I would have hated to see it just run into the ground like hollywood so loves to do.

I found this out through fb and had to google to verify. Pretty damn awesome I am so excited! This is my close second favorite show of all time, just a hair behind Futurama, because of the latter show's sentimentality to me of course.

Fuck yeah.
But I'm not as aroused by the show now that it's been revealed that George-Michael and Mabey aren't technically incestuous cousins.

...What?

Hoping this breaks the trend for 'uncancelled shows come back with a drop in quality'
Also: big damn cinema movie or made-for-DVD double length episode?

Oh, that's not your kind of thing?  I mean, if it doesn't maintain any of the complex eroticism of the original?

I don't think it's been confirmed yet, but people think it's going to be Showtime. Apparently they expressed an interest in picking the show up initially after it was cancelled, so they seem logical.

I'm not gonna lie, I don't think it's necessary to reboot the show and have a movie. I don't know I guess I like the original show for what it was, an under-appreciated sitcom that few people really appreciated. It's only now that the show has gotten so popular because of Michael Cera, Will Arnett, and Jason Batemen starring in so many movies the past couple of years. To me it's like they moved on, so we should move on. I feel like this is just happening because of the fact that these guys are now bankable and household names. It feels cheap to me. I mean I watched the show when it was still on the air, I can't tell you how many people I've talked to who only got into the show after it was cancelled, and that seems silly but the whole reason they started watching is because they saw Scott Pilgram vs. The World. I hope I'm making myself clear. I sound negative about this and that's not to say I wouldn't watch new episodes or anything but I just find it unnecessary.

I would say you have that at least a little of that backwards; Arrested Development basically launched the career of Michael Cera, and brought Will Arnett and Jason Bateman out of the shadows and into the spotlight. Even if most of the public didn't watch AD when it was on originally, most people working in TV and film certainly knew of it, and every actor involved had their stock go up in Hollywood thanks to the show. Without AD, Cera likely never would've gotten the chance to be Scott Pilgrim.

That said, I agree bringing it back after all these years is fraught with pitfalls, but given the high level of professionalism and skill of everyone involved, I'm not overly concerned. I don't think they'd be making more if they didn't intend to do it right, and believe that they could do it justice in a second round.

It's not necessary to bring it back, but it wasn't necessary to bring 'Futurama' back.

I'm glad that it's coming back and I have faith in the talent involved.

My faith has a high statistical likelihood of resolving into fact.  You'd have to understand how the waveform collapses in order to truly resolve this cloud of possibilities into a single coherent truth.

Expectation of probability ≠ faith.
Educated prediction based on knowledge of the universe ≠ faith.

...I'm in the wrong thread.

Do we have a timeframe yet on when the new AD will grace our screens? I have every faith that it'll be awesome.

excellent segue. Ten points to Slytherin.

Yes, I trust all the people involved. Obviously, they've aged, most noticeably George Michael and Maeby, so they'll have no choice but to set it far in the future. The original series will stand as an arc about one time Michael actually came back to help his family; something could easily be imagined to bring them back together again years later. Ron Howard's wanted to do at least the movie since the show went off the air, and it's not like he needs the money, nor are most of the cast likely to just be jonesing for more sitcom work.
