I'm rather enjoying the latest series; the last episode I watched was 'Kitten'. Not a bad episode even if the helicopter in the Vietnam War scenes was clearly a later model than those in use at the time :nono:

That helicopter really sets you on the path of doubting the show's integrity. Was it all just a lie? Was Queequeg even real? Where do the lies end, Carter!?

Well, The X-Files once again ended on a really weak finale episode for me. I mean...
Why can't Chris Carter just give this show a proper conclusion? Gillian Anderson has made it clear she is not coming back, so Carter still thinks the show could work without both of the protagonists? Yeah, we saw how that went without Mulder in Seasons 8 and 9. Hasn't he got the memo yet this isn't what people want? I thought this season was good, otherwise.

That is because Chris Carter is milking/banking on the hardcore loyal fans will watch no matter what direction he takes the show. I thought both of the recent returns were nice nostalgia trips within the universe. However, he left so many plot points undone and gave us more questions than answers... Which is sad because at some point we will not get another season to tie up loose ends.

I think that episode where they pointed out there's no reason to hide the truth anymore really hits home as a reflection on society, and as a larger discussion about the show itself.  All of the whole conspiracy aspect of the show feels firmly in the 90s.
