Meh, after Mulder left I lost interest in it. Maybe some other show will take it's place (Futurama?)

X-Files used to be my obsession. I have 4 shirts a hat all the trading cards, most of the ccg cards, many many eps on tape and hundreds of other stuff. If you gave me the plot line of any ep from any season i could then tell you the name of the ep and the season. All i wanted in the world was for Mulder and Scully to get together. Thankfully they did, but it was offscreen and then David left and the show was then strangled to death. I miss the old X-Files but i'm glad the new X-Files is leaving. I'll just live vicariously through reruns and fanfiction and turn to Futurama and Buffy for my aliens/romance mix.

Not unlike my obsession with Mystery Science Theater 3000.  Mine was just with a much better show  :p

I loved the x-files so much...but once this mudler shit started, I got tired and bored by it.  basically, I hated the show... But after a while, I started to like it again and like it now, so its kind of a bummber to see it go when I just got back into it.

Always loved the series tho.

I always enjoyed the show but it sounds like it has run out of steam, the episodes I've seen had Mulder in, I can't see those episodes after his departure being as good. Perhaps it is best that it dies and is replaced by something fresh.

Woohoo, it's about time. I think they should have wrapped it up in season 7 at the latest. I have nothing against the new guy, but everything about the show just sucks now. The stories suck, the characters suck, the score sucks, the baby sucks, and the visual style has gotten way sucky as well.

And I have to disagree with Venus, I never wanted a romance. Chris Carter always said there wouldn't be a romance, but then he sold out and changed his mind at the end. Screw that.

I agree with Jeff.  Remember when they had this beautiful friendship that didn't have to be all tainted by sexual love?  Remember when they'd always be there for each other?  Then Mulder knocks her up and BAM he's gone!  They knew he was leaving, but they stuck with that stupid baby story line.  Because Chris Carter is a bastard.  Even though David's career is essentially in the crapper, X-files is in the crapper.  Everything has gone to hell. Yea and Dana sucks now.  She's hardly even in episodes, she just pops up when Doggett needs help.  What the hell?

Sigh...yeah. I always thought it was original and cool that two opposite-sex tv characters could just have a normal friendship. Having them sleep with each other is taking the easy way out.

The worst thing about this is the effect on the movie series. If they ended it with season 7, they could carry on with normal X-file movies, with Scully and Mulder doing their normal X-file stuff. But now they have to bring Mulder back(which is gay, because he's disappeared and reappeared like a gillion times now), and then they have to deal with the romance and the baby and the fact that Mulder's not an FBI agent anymore. And they'll probably try to work in Doggett and whatever other characters they've established this season. The entire franchise is fucked now.

I am now pissed that they killed the lone gunmen.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT
i'm in australia so i didn't know that. did they kill them all? that is fucked. it's bad enough they killed Krychek and CSM before, but this fucking sucks.
excuse my language.
but i guess since it's near the very end of the season it doesn't really matter as much as it would if they'd done it earlier.

I heard it was going to happen a while ago, the show went in the toilet after the movie. Watched a couple episodes of the next season but no more after that, this comming from a die hard X-Phile... so sad that the show has to resort to killing their best characters to hope to increase ratings. I didn't watch the episode, how did they die? Was it part of the plot or ::Shutter:: in a monster of the week type episode?

i like (most of) the "monster of the week" type episodes. suck it.
but i didn't really like season 8. i did like 7 though.

heh. noticed the title of the episode where the gunmen die is appropriately called "jump the shark". and why bring back Morris Fletcher? that's retarded.

I know the MotW epiosodes were usually the most fun and can be the best done episodes, I just don't like certain characters to die off in something that doesn't really have any impact on the "plot." Actually now that I think of how bad the plot was getting when I stopped watching, this might be a good thing.

I don't normally watch The X-Files, but I did just happen to see the last half of last night's episode.

The minute the Lone Gunmen discuss "handing over the reins to the younger generation," and having "screwed the pooch" (failing on their mission), they all had DEAD MEAT stamped on their foreheads. Those are Standard Clichè Hollywood Indicators of Impending Death (SCHIIDs). Retirement is rare, and self-sacrifice is the usually the only redemption when minor characters screw up big on a TV series--especially in the last few eps.

They WAY they go is completely unnecessary; they could've very easily incapacitated the target, pulled the alarm, and quickly left the danger zone before the doors came down. They hung around and died only because the script called for them to.

You are watching FOX.

if only their show wasn't cancelled, they'd still be alive.
i still haven't even seen that show, on account of retarded channel seven bought it. (seven are the fucktards who prefer to show gardening shows, australian drama and sabrina the "teenage" witch rather than Futurama, Family Guy, King of the Hill and Stargate)

A few quotes from the X-Files MB:
"The Lone Gunmen Died because no one gets out of the X-Files alive. Name all the characters of any importance who left this show alive?"

"There is a reason it's called "Jump the Shark."
Cliches, stereotypical situations, bad writing.

It attempted to parody the things that typify a series "jumping the shark.""
