I finished Shadows of the Empire. It was an awesome book. Seriously one of the best I've read in a while, regardless of genre. It's really got me re-interested in Star Wars, both the movies, books, and new television series and I'd like to read some of the other EU books out there. Any suggestions of where to start?
Also, what do you all want to see in the television series? Which characters do you want to see expanded a bit more on?

I, Jedi. Watching Corran Horn and the seeds of the NJO grow sure is interesting.
Also, like Slacky said, anything by Zahn. Grab his prequal stuff first, especially Outbound Flight Project.
If you are a Mace Windu fan, try Shatterpoint.

No. No. No. NO! Read the Heir to the Empire set first. then[/i] the prequel stuff. It's the best way to ensure that you love Thrawn every time that you meet him. I'd have hated him if I'd read Outbound Flight first. In fact, chronologically speaking, you should read the entire EU between Heir to the Empire and Vision of the Future (except for the Kevin J Anderson shite), then go read the stuff that takes place before that. Then stop. Everything after Vision of the Future only delivers disappointment.

Yeah, Avoid The Jedi Kids books. Star Wars went Hanna Barberra there.
NJO is awesome though. And the Legacy era.

I had the choice between Outbound Flight and Heir to the Empire to get first. I choose to go chronologically in the Star Wars universe rather than chronologically in publishing and got Outbound. Only $8 for the paperback (the hardback was $25 and too much for me today), so it was a nice deal for it. I was going to get the new Futurama Comic as well, but I only had a $20 bill with me and wanted to make sure I had extra cash with me just in case I needed it.
The Zahn books sound good. If this isn't too good, oh well, it was only $8. I might read the NJO stuff, though I may be sad by what may become of some of my favorite characters, or I might go with other "movie era" books (Clone Wars and Rebellion eras) that I haven't read yet, including the Revenge of the Sith book, which sounds very good.
Also, TNUK, I bet I'll love Thrawn regardless of where I start with the Zahn books, like I loved Xizor even though he was a badass son of a bitch. Xizor reminded me of Khan, which I loved oh so much. He was a character.

Indeed, Thrawn was almost as good as Darth Vader. He wasn't weird like Warlord Zsinji, or mentally unstable like Isard.
Next to Thrawn and Vader, Pellaeon is another favourite of mine.
On a side note, would you read a series of books/comics set in an alternate universe where the Empire didn't fall and faced off against The Yuzzong Vong.
I want to see Darth Vader kicking Vong ass dammit!

I played BF2 a year ago. I have mixed feelings about the game. It felt like a expansion pack from the 1st Battlefront taking a step backwards. Space was nice, but it got boring after a while.
Most maps lacked vehicle variety or size, and the Battlefront 1 Interface was much better than BF2. The Hero system was quite shoddy and taken on. The campaign was okay, a bit hard at times since the AI is so freaking dumb.
I played the Galactic Conquest Mod for BF1942. I had much more fun sadly in that, since the maps were bigger, there was a nice share of vehicles and weapons that were fun, and canonical.
I might reinstall it, even for just a few plays. How many people still play? Has there been a patch? A mod perhaps? did the devs expand map size or add more vehicles?

I-unno. It's version 1.1 now. The devs would unlikely add anything, since it's a finished game. They're not good devs like the CoH guys, two new maps in the CoH 1.5 update!

I added a white layer, so that I didn't lose my desktop icons. Because I'm blind. Clearly.
I have a non-white version.

Wrong wrong wrong... that is awful and you should change it to what it should be. You know you can make fonts bigger right? Han Solo would be ashamed of you.

I'm a total nerd, knowing what all these did and how they were ham fistedly put out of operation. Since the Empire was strongest in numbers, In retrospect pumping all those wasted funds in Star Destroyers and general Military Training would have helped a lot better in the Long Run.

Give them a break.. the empire fielded 25.000 Imperator class destroyers and 7.000.000 TIE Fighters..plus all support ships like Victorys, Venators, Frigattes, corvettes, dreadnoughts, carriers and so... whats some exotic expensive toys along that? i have not readed the Yuzam (or whatever is writen) was books but i think that someone in those books said "where is a death star when you need one".. i cant believe they didnt build one to face them... i mean, surelly the blue prints are somewhere and unlike the empire who used slave work and needed 18 years to develop the 1st one... in a bloody war agains the yuzam they would surelly have compety support from all the galaxy united to build a DS.. and the imperial fleet would really became handy in that.. using also shielded fighters instead the expendable TIEs

Yuzzum?Probably mean the Yuuzhan Vong. Anyways, Death Stars and other such things (such as plagues) were actually considered for use against the Vong, but it was generally considered that genocidal weapons weren't a great thing for the good guys to deploy, s'all. Also, the Empire (or at least, the Imperial Remnant) helped out plenty. Pellaeon! Huzzah!

Pellaeon is bad ass. He is the Sean Connery of the Star Wars Universe. The Vong were Nomads coming from the unknown regions outside the known universe, so using something like the Death Star on the planets they occupied would do nothing to the situation at large.
Did that dumb ass Bothan (You minor EU fans know the one) get his come uppance? I've never gotten round to reading the 3rd book about the invasion.
So I am playing Forces of Corruption for Empire at War (Shush, It is canon :P) and I have to say this that Tyber Zahn is really such a Mary Sue type of character crossed over with generic Crime Lord baddie it just makes me laugh. He has a freaking Flame Thrower Scatter Blaster Pistol and is best buddies with Thrawn!
And the game also proved to me, that at last, Vader force choking some Imperial Officer is now a cliché.
