The episode was alright, it had its moments. I loved Huey's reaction to the overexposure to "black television". I also enjoyed Rileys reaction to the signatures on "ODB Tribute".  The Bob Ross guy creeped me out, he said he didn't like violence, then he had a shoot out with the police. I liked the ending, you got to see Riley's sensitive side, which wasn't expected.

I read the cartoons everyday now, and even got some of the books. I don't have a favorite version, but the TV show is definitely worth watching!

Sadly, I just read that McGruder going to give the comic strip a six month hiatus, starting on the 26th this month.  There will be repeats in the meantime, but man, who knows what great stuff Huey and Caesar are going to miss....

Oh well, I'm sure they'll run some great ones I haven't seen in a while.

Well, he is also executive producing and writing some of the animated episodes of "The Boondocks," so maybe he's just burnt out.

Yeah, I'm sure that's what it was.  I remember reading that in the earlier years of the comic he was actually hospitalized for exhaustion.  And I have noticed more repeats in general lately, for the strip....I'm disapointed about the break, but it is probably good for it to take a break so McGruder can refresh himself.  Some of the best comics (e.g. Doonesbury and Calvin and Hobbes) have done the same thing.

Also, for anyone who hasn't watched it yet on the Friday Night Fix, I highly suggest catching the episode "Wingmen".  I just watched it and it's excellent.

That's kind of what I was thinking when I read the news. Hopefully he'll be refreshed when he returns.

*grumblegrumblegripe* I didn't even know there was a new episode on last night.  Does CN rerun the new episodes within the week, or will I have to wait a while before I can catch this again?

If they didn't change the schedule again, but I don't think they moved it.

Great episode, though I must admit I was kind of hoping that Huey would fight back. Maybe a fruit basket wasn't the answer!

So "The Block is Hot" is also great...

And for the record, it's ten times funnier if you've seen the film "Do the Right Thing" (but it's still great either way).  If you have the chance, go rent it before the episode airs.

EDIT: The Itis Spreads!

Interesting site. McGruder seems to be one of his friends, and fortunately I didn’t see any of his naked pictures.

I noticed on last week’s episode that there was a reference to Al Sharpton being "hot" at some cartoon. They must have added more recently since it usually takes many months to produce a cartoon. The Futurama commentary makes reference to last minute additions like this so it wasn't much of a surprise to me.

What did yall think of the season finale? I thought it was a good episode to go out on. Tom was hilarious, he shouldn't worry because I don't like Puffy or Kobe either.

I think that prisoner should have died, in real life he would have, that episode was to happy-go-lucky

Damn, you're disapointed because the innocent prisoner was pardoned? Thats kind of cold, I kind of feel bad for Raul, but thats it.

I can see why some would think it was "happy-go lucky", and I can see it somewhat. However it wouldn't have worked if he was killed. It was fun to wonder though, but it would loose its humor.

I like dark and cynical endings, but I think it was better that they didn't kill him.  It would have been a little too sad and depressing, and it wouldn't have fit the theme of the episode as well I think.  On a side note, the suspenseful, sad nature of the scenes where he's about to be executed (which actually had me slightly choked up) made "Mr. Mayor!  They found out about Raoul!" that much funnier.

Today's comic strip is, incidentally, the last for about six months.  We must savor it.  From what I've read season two starts late this year or possibly early next, and should finally feature Caesar.

Not to double post, but uh....anyone who missed the early years of the comic....looks like you'll be able to catch up on them considering today's (Monday) reprint.  I hope they reprint some not already found in "A Right to Be Hostile" though.
