I knew a major death was coming, I knew it was almost certainly a suicide, and I knew Kutner's chances were extremely high.

Just stupid. And what's worse is that they'll spend, what, a few episodes on the topic (and my god, do I feel cheated out of some chances to see just a little more of the character), and then that's it and there's no revisiting it. What makes that worse is the fact that Kutner never got a storyline like fucking Thirteen did or like Taub, and this is basically the extent of it.

I know the suicide spoiler advertised that it would "come out of nowhere", and yeah, it came out of nowhere. To the characters and the audience, and it shouldn't really be like that so much for the latter.

And were they serious with all that crap at the end? It felt so freaking cheap. That was my favourite new fucking character. I'm kind of pissed.

lol - I was like "wow Laura wrote quite a post"  then I realized you stole her avatar.

Still, I agree with everything you said.  It was cheap.  If they had to do it that way, there should have been a something said other than "he was sad"

Aaw, haha, I'm sorry!

I was just thinking about it and honestly I think a nearly successful but not quite suicide attempt would have been a better way to go: You still get a lot of the drama, but you don't aggravate nearly as much of your audience, you get to keep the character, and you have the potential for further drama to stem off from this aside from "well we never saw it coming", because there's only so far you can go with that.

Liiike I get that the show is ultimately about House, and his completely missing something like this and never being able to find the answer is monumental for him, but secondary characters are pretty important too and this was a massive waste of one.

I thought the lack of explanation added to the episode, to be honest.  If it has been a botched suicide attempt, I would have found that much cheaper.  An explanation would have been nice, but it also would have gone against the purpose of the episode: it's the pointlessness of the death that's driving House bonkers.

Kutner's inexplicable suicide was, IMO, a great way for the writers to fuck with House's mind.  Wilson was right when he said that House was trying to solve a puzzle; it's what the man does .  To confront this puzzle that is missing too many pieces to put together is absolutely maddening to him.  If nothing else, I'm interested to see where the writers are going to take this.

That said, I really wish it had been 13 to go instead because, damn it, I really liked Kutner. :(

I completely forgot to say Meatloaf is awesome in stuff, but I wish he was in a different episode and without a silly wife.

Hey, be fair.

That wife was the maid, Yvette, in Clue and many other cliche blonds in the 80's.

Really sad when Kutner killed himself.  He was a very deeply conflicted character.  Having losing his parents who were killed and then going to live in a foster home.   Really sad episode last week.

Liked last week's episode with the envoirmentalist.  It seemed like he cared more about the envoirment than he did his own family.  Liked the subplot with Chase and Cameron as well.

Where did Amber go? Oh there she is, she was hiding.

Confusing episode, so Wilson telling House to do stuff was... real? Or not?
Gah.

I bet he'll have half the rehab ward cured of their real illnesses in no time!

Was it rehab or a mental institution he went to?
Or is Amber the result of too much vicodin?

The whole point of the previous ep was house searching for any explanation besides vicodin or schitzophrenia, so he could keep taking it, then he managed to halucinate the way out he wanted (cuddy saved him, they hook up; gotta say, does sound better than rehab!) but he never actually quit taking the vicodin apparently, so that is still on the table. And the sign said mental institution, but goal 1 natually will be detox/rehab from the vicodin, and frankly I don't think a weekly support group was gonna be much help to House.

I just started watching this and I'm really enjoying it.

Does it dip at any point? Or is it great through out the entire series?

The first 2 or 3 seasons are pretty much consistently great, but of course there's the odd few moments. S4 was completely different, but not too terrible, with a fantastic redemption at the end. S5's been very wishy-washy, mostly bad but then stopping to suck so hard at the end.

I'm not totally riveted right now to see where they're gonna go with S6 - it's a fine idea, but these people have proven that lately they are not all that great at long-term. Still, it's interesting enough. As long as they lighten some stuff up next season because the end of S5 has been good, but really, there is such a thing as too much darkness.

This was a really powerful season finale!  By next season, I'll bet House will solve a medical mystery at the sanitirium where he got sent to, and he'll get out.  And go back to his Vicodin.  Can't wait until next season!

Plus, it was shocking how he hallucinated about Kutner, too.

I wouldn't say amazing, but I'm certainly enjoying the show more again. It's picking itself back up and it's really going the right approach when it comes to House's recovery, nice and steady and not terribly showy.

I don't think the premiere was particularly amazing though. But I'm certainly enjoying the show again. Now if only they'd shut the fuck up about Foreman and Thirteen and never speak of it again because that shit is boring.

But how cool is James Earls Jones voice?!

James Earl Jones is in the third episode? Damn, I broke up with my American TV provider a week too soon. Now I'm going to have to wait like a normal Australian with slow internet to see it.

I'm not sure I like those 'movie length' episodes they do. I always sit there looking at my watch wondering when it's going to end, even if I'm enjoying it. It did give House some time outside of the hospital setting with completely different characters without it dragging on for half a season though, so that was good.
Enjoyed House's Cooking Adventures.
And I agree about Foreman and Thirteen, they just aren't working for me. I think I even preferred it when she was having lesbian affairs.

I just saw for the greater good ( I think) episode. And I couldn't care less about their relationship. But It was almost the entire storyline. The doctor/chef story was pushed aside to focus on Foreman/13. Are they concentrating on this for the rest of the year? I watched it on USA so I imagine it spans the rest of the year.

Thirteen is gone for the moment because Olivia Wilde ran off to film a movie and finally plague something else with her inability to act, yay.

Foreman has actually managed to become a character I enjoy again through his interactions with Chase, who remains infinitely superior and all kinds of awesome. I'm really enjoying this storyline and am able to look past the fact that it was "too big" for the show, really.

I enjoy this series. My favourite ep would be the one with Mika Boorem in it as a young girl who cannot feel pain.
House opens up to her, but how much is real and how much are red herrings?
Fascinating dialogue.

Awesome episode last night!  Loved the 80's party and House drugging Wilson!   It was hilarious when Wilson called saying he needed pants!  LOL!  Plus, it was a surprise to see Lucas back in the picture.  It seems like House might have a romantic rival on his hands, especially someone who used to be his friend.
