These are the classic christmas specials we grew up watching.  They air them every year.

I grew up watching most of these specials and it's these shows that Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park, Futurama and others make fun of with their specials.

Most of them were made by Rankin-Bass.  A company that would influence things like Pixar and Tim Burton's The Nightmare before Christmas.

That's because if anyone said that was their favourite they would immediately be hung, drawn and quarter, and rightly so!

Pffft, people don't appreciate the camp value. I'd give my right foot to see it on Mystery Science Theatre.

Chuck Jones' "Grinch" short. Sorry, Jim Carrey, Nixon accent or not, nothing beats the original "You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch..."

The rest of those specials are ones I can't stand.

And where the hell's He-Man and She-Ra: A Christmas Special (I'm not making that up, it just got released on DVD)?

Where's KISS Saves Christmas:p

On a serious note, I vote the British one that isn't there: The Snowman. I watch it every year, it's class.

Wow, I'm surprised you all remembered He-man and She Ra's Christmas special?  I thought I was the only one, since they don't air it every Christmas anymore.  All this specials always air every Christmas.

The Snowman and Father Christmas (both Raymond Briggs and both sadly lacking in this year's Christmas schedules ... again   :().

No, I was wrong. They're both there, and on Christmas Day no less!!

Of the choices listed, I'd go with How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

Of the Rankin/Bass specials, my favorites are Nestor, the Long-Eared Christmas Donkey and Jack Frost.

Funny, the last time someone mentioned it, you were disparaging it.

I'm sure that I must have seen that when it originally aired, but I really can't remember it.

Not a classic, and exactly a christmas special, but I quite enjoy The Hebrew Hammer. I know I shouldn't but I find it funny. It does involve christmas, so my post is justified.

Ah, Christmas Specials. I hate the stop-motion Christmas specials, like Rudolph and the such. I also remember the PBS show Auther's Christmas Special. Watched it every year. I'd have to say the Charlie Brown Christmas Special, just because of their dancing and the music. So, Other it is.

Myster Science Theater 3000's Santa Conquers the Martains, The Simpsons Christmas Special, Futurama's X-Mas episodes and the Aqua Teen Hunger Force episodes "Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Past from the Future" and "T-Shirt of the Dead" all are becoming holiday favorites of mine.
But I picked Rudolph because that snow monster in it scared the s#!t out of me as a kid.

Santa Claus: It's the middle of f*cking July! I was sleeping! Those faggoty elves don't even come in until September!

Cool.

I was Lrrr_2004, but after I moved, I changed my email, so they were supposed to send me a new password, and I must of screwed my email up because I never got a new password. So I know how everything works.

Back on topic. I also love the episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force with the egyption t-shirt. I watch it everytime it comes on.

Shake: (Shake is a reindeer and the other reindeer are sniffing his rear) I thought we were gonna be trading off on this.
Meatwad: We gotta finish up America, then we do Europe and then we lock up the Middle East.

Meatwad: Cry me a river, bitch.

Matt Groening's "Olive the Other Reindeer" has the makings to be a future Classic Christmas Special.  I wish he produced more specials like that.

I LOVE Santa Clause is Comin' to Town. That has to be the single most badass Christmas special ever. (No christmas song can ever beat "Put One Foot in Front of the Other".)

Does A Garfield Christmas Special count as classic?  That was always my favorite when I was younger.

If not, then I have to go with Grinch as well.

But since that's not a choice...

Robbie the Reindeer was good, that was claymation too.

Cant beat Wallace and Gromit either. Theyre ALWAYS on at Xmas.

They used to have this local thing on NTV where they would track Santa's progress vis radar throughout the night, and they had an elf who would take kids phone calls. I used to really like that when I was a kid, because they had all this realistic looking, but still fake, gear for tracking Santa.

On that list, I've always like the claymation Rudolph one.

Hmm...I wanted to give Mickey's Christmas Carol a pity vote, as that was the first Christmas Carol version I ever saw and have many nostalgic memories of it.  However, if we take into account nostalgia and quality, you can't beat the Grinch.

Christmas Father Ted was a classic. They should put it on TV again this year. I cannot think of any other Christmas moment but I am looking forward for the two-part Little Britain Christmas special and Doctor Who – The Runaway Bride
