Digital Versatile Disc.  An ancient optical media format for audio, video, and data that is read with a longwave laser!  How silly is that, eh?  I have some concerts on DVD that were cut with a linear pulse code modulation audio track and they sound pretty good.

i got the ne funamation blu ray edition, it came out a few months ago.  I used to have the out of print Bandai dvd edition, but sold that to get the blu ray/  the blu ray has all the extras from the old dvd plus more.  I got mine copy for about $30, which i've seen it go for about $30-$40.

I caught some Electric Daisy Festival documentary on late night cable, and it was really cool.  I only listed the video discs I bought recently, but I also picked up "5 Years of Mau5" and have Daft Punk's "Alive 2007 Special Edition" on its way from Japan.  I blame Meerkat for turning me on to DP.

There are roughly 10-12 movies in my queue to watch for the first time.  I think I have five paper grocery bags full of books to read, too.

I think the only one I have that I haven't watched is wedding crashers, since I won it at work a few years ago and have seen the movie before and thought it was just ok

I've been watching the occasional Star Trek episode on BBC America and actually managed to get through a couple of Voyager eps.  I was soured on it years ago after watching just one or two, but I'm trying to give it a chance.  And it's begun to grow on me a bit.

So when the latest box-set showed up as a recommendation while I was browsing Amazon, I had a quick word with my sci-fi ubernerd friend and sprang for this:



Rather pricey, but not too bad considering it's:

• about $80 cheaper than the previous complete series set
• only about $3/disc

I was warned that the two-hour pilot was dismal but I didn't think it was bad at all, and it filled me in on some character background that I'd not known.


P.S.  Yes, the depiction of Ms. Mulgrew on the box is horrid.
