I Hate JTV. Banzi and that one game show where the contestants basically run around obstacle courses trying to injure themselves is enough to make me wonder if something horrible has gotten into Japans drinking water. Some kind of brain parasite maybe. And don't get me started on anime.

Takeshis castle - thats funny when you watch the American version - MXC - and they just add in lines and make fun of them.  MST3K esque

It's terrible because it is funny and it is funny because it is terrible.

I'd rather watch a Japanese Gameshow than Big Brother, at least it's whacky and unpredictible.

I watch Hey! Hey! Hey! occasionally to see if there's any good music coming out of Japan, but that's kind of like watching TRL to see if there's any good music coming out of the US.  But I did see Guitar Wolf on there once.

Banzai is not actually a Japanese show; it's American.

Takeshi's Castle rules so hard it's sick.  I didn't watch the American dub (MXC) for the longest time because of my prejudice against dubbing, but now I'm addicted.  It's the best written thing I've ever heard.  Every single line is a filthy, filthy joke that's actually funny.  I can't believe they get away with it on TV.

Which should be obvious from the fact that it's nowhere near as insane as real Japanese gameshows.

Yeah, the show itself is pretty funny, but the dubbing makes it so much better.

Also, I love Iron Chef.  Shame on everyone who posted in this thread without mentioning it.

Second on Iron Chef.  But not that awful Iron Chef American.  Bobby Flay can go grill himself.

I've become curiously and shamefully addicted to MXC.

I thought he was a real chef, but I was wrong.  Our knives and cutting boards are sacred things.  We do not stand on them.

I like watching the MXC every now and then too, especially with friends.  I do get a little annoyed with the dub sometimes though.  I'd like to know what they are actually saying since it's probably more bizzare than the stuff the dub people come up with.

I still say that the only reason he won the second time around was so that he'd shut up and go away.

There are some Japanese TV programmes that are good and some that are bad in any genre really, from anime to series to TV soaps...etc

Yes, you didn't realize there were two versions because not everyone watches the Food Network as much as I do?
