Back on topic, in my opinion the show hasn't been the same since Season 9 arrived...

Otis, this poll is shite, for the follwing reasons:

1. Season 13 aired two years ago, and many people have already watched them and passed judgement on them.

2. There's a Season 14 and a Season 15 now.

3. Why is Season 3 up there?  Pray tell which of "Homer Defined", "Flaming Moe's", "Burns Verkaufen der Kraftwerk", "Homer at the Bat" and "Black Widower" make this a candidate for worst season ever?

4. Ditto on Seasons 2, 4, 5, and possibly even 9.

Definitely season 11. I think that it was the worst period of the Scully era. For me, season 12 was really a turning point in the history of the series (at least during Scully's reign), although season 13 had some pretty bad episodes. But, in my opinion, the good far outweighs the bad.

Interesting actually that 6-8 are not included.  Not to say that I agree with this but in fact there was a fairly large group of fans that felt those were the worst seasons at the time.  Season 8 was regarded by some as bottom of the barrel.  In fact I think 1-4 are better then 8 anyway.

Anyways, yeah, season eleven sucked ass.

No, the only part of this poll that is shite is your post  :p

Actually, Season 13 didn’t fully air two years ago. Obviously two years ago was March 6th 2002, or March 5th 2002 from when you made that crap attack of a post. At that period, not all of the eps in Season 13 had aired. Plus the fact that this poll was made more than two years ago, near the period around Season 13 beginning, hence the option for "I think Season 13 will be".

Of course there’s Seasons 14 and 15 now, thanx for pointing out the obvious. But when I  made this poll there weren’t. Hello? it was made in 2001!...

I thought it was obvious why Season 3 is up there, and 2, 4, 5, 9 for that matter. It’s because it would fit, and for fairness. I’d have included every season if they’d have fitted, but because they didn’t, I took out my favorite Seasons (I made the poll, and I had dibs on what the choices were. If you’ve got a problem, you should have registered and made it before me).  When I included those Seasons, I knew full well that they were highly unlikely to obtain votes, I don’t need to be told by some jumped up hussy. But the more Seasons the poll included, the more fair it would be.

It’s funny how in 2002, you made a post on the previous page, and didn’t have any of the problems you have with this poll now. It was even a post that had some sort of purpose...

The Mansion Family is a great episode, one of the best of the newer era, there are other resonable one in S11 too, but as it already has been almost unaminously decided, i'm going with season 11 too...

I'm not sure if I would consider "The Mansion Family" a good episode, but it's not neccessarily the worst of season 11, in my opinion (that's "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Marge" ). For no raisin, here are my top five of season 11:

1."Behind the Laughter"
2."Guess Who's Coming to Criticize Dinner"
3."Grift of the Magi"
4."Eight Misbehavin'"
5."Take My Wife, Sleaze"

I'm sorry I really cant belive you could think season 1 is better than 8 that just  propestrous. I know its just your opinion
but I really cant see a good reason for that, I see a lot of cases of season 8 being considerd the weakest of the classics, and I'd really like to see a good argument for why.
I'd bet Matt Groening would consider 8 better than 1.

Season 11 *shudder*.

Because while 10 and 12 had a few good episodes, Season 11 *shudder* had only a couple of fair ones - a lot more shitty episodes.

See? I can't even say Season 11 *shudder* without shuddering!

Okay, for the record I do like season 8.  Better then 5, actually.  But I happen to like season one better and I'll try to explain why.

Season eight, while quite good, often had a very....I guess you could say "superficial" feel to it.  I recently watch all of them in order actually, and I found that a lot of the episodes don't have particularly engaging storylines or a lot of satirical relevance or anything.  A lot of them truly are "just a bunch of stuff that happened".  They are very funny still, but somehow there don't seem to be many actual standouts or episodes where I really care about the characters or what's going on.

Also, I think season had sometimes too much reliance on crazy parodies and the wackiness starts to get a little over the top at points during that season (although its mostly not as ridiculous as five) with flying nannies, supervillians, etc.

Season one, on the other hand, just has a preferable spirit IMO.  Its a little more "true" to what I think the show should be.  Its really about the everday lives of these characters, about telling real stories and exploring them (as Jim Brooks said, "exploring the emotional lives of cartoon characters).  Granted, Homer's Odyssey and partly Some Enchanted Evening are kind of pathetic at points, but the rest are generally good and I think it has some of the best of the series.  Its not quite as "deep" as some later seasons but it does provide a lot to think about and some great empathetical stories.

Keeping in mind this is a loose ranking (I'm kinda torn between each of the first five in this list), here's roughly how I rank the seasons.  15's ranking is also where I think I will put it when it finishes, based on the episodes so far.

4,7,3,2,6,1,8,5,15,9,13,14,12,10,11

Well Fair enough, I personally do find The storys just as enganging. The situations also just seem more intresting to me. There seems to be quite a bit of Satire to me- 'Bart After Dark' 'I&S&P show, Homers Phobia, Homer vs the 18th Amendment, possibly The Old Man and The Lisa and Homers Enemy  as For Flying nannies - produced by Jean and Reiss.  Super villans season 7 holdover.
Well each to his own I guess I agree its a little weaker. But I think I just really like the Flavour Oakley and Weinstein brought to the show.
Personally my top 3 I find hard to decide between 4,6 and 7 I could change my mind every minute but I'll go for
 7,4,6,8,5,3,2,1,9,14=13,10,12,11
