Just saw the first ep of season 4. I actually thought it was pretty good. Looks like they've up'd the animation budget, the driving / jughead comic scene appeared to be in 3D.

The GI Joe scene had me laughing out loud. Its good to see they're keeping up the completely random pop culture references

You guys can't wait for the new episode, you have to watch it on the internet? We've waited like 3 years, what's another 3 weeks?

Family Guy was pretty good, while American Dad was... hmm.

Let's just say, I'll be watching one of these shows next week, but not the other.

Eh, Family Guy had some good points, but it wasn't as good as it could have been. Season three was pretty good, but I suppose they need some time to get back into the groove, so to speak. Then again, I didn't care about the original premire of FG either.

Oh, and the fanboy in me noticed that Chris talked to Stewie, so I guess everyone can understand him now.

I enjoyed Family Guy. Really funny shit with "Passion of the Christ 2". Had me holding my sides in laughter. Other highlights were Pinocchio, and of course, GI Joe. And the beginning joke about FOX making tons of really crappy shows lasting only a season was a nice start.

Yeah, I'll be watching it next week.

I didn't get that Pinnochio joke at first, but when did, I wished I didn't.

Other than that, it was good.

No, they also listed good shows that were cancelled after a season (or four eps, as the case may be). But I likes what what you said.

I thought it was pretty damn good, myself. It's nice to have it back.

I thought it sucked. That's not my Family Guy.  It felt rushed. I'm sure it obviously was, but I hope it gets better.

It seemed also like they tried to insert a good number of minor characters from previous episodes in. (ie the popsicle old guy, scary monkey, greased-up deaf guy), but interestingly, no Quagmire, Joe, or Cleveland...

On the subject of animation, I saw a definite improvement over the older episodes.

The animation seemed "knocked up a notch", especially during that part when Peter is reading a comic while trying to drive. (It seemed to be as if it had an element of 3-D in it. The whole thing was probably in 3-D, but I'm not too sure.)

Not everybody lives in the US, so if I was going to download it anyway, I may as well get it early  :p

Besides, I'm sure if Futurama were returning and an episode was leaked to the internet early, everyone here would want to see it as soon as possible.

But if everyone downloads it early, not all of those people will tune in to Fox when it airs, then the rating aren't what Fox expected, and then the show gets cancelled for a third time.

But they actually had a conversation, i.e. its not like Chris was talking and didn't hear Stewie's responses. He clearly responded to things Stewie was saying concerning the high school dance.

Stewie: "You!  You seem to know all the players in this poorly acted farce.  What's that one called?"

Chris: "That's Meg, dude.  You know that."

Stewie: "Meg!  You're a dirty girl, and you're not to touch any of my things."

I didn't think that it sucked. It did feel a little more rushed though. I think that was mostly because of the apearences of many minor characters; evil monkey, weatherman "its gonna rain!", etc. The only characters I wish they would have had was the squid and the coupon chicken. I thought it was decent. Sub-par to many other episodes, but far better than American Dad. Some peole love it, but I guess I will save my opionion of that for the AD topic. It was the first NEW animated episode of ANYTHING that I have laughed at in years. Not a triumphant return, but it's good to have it back. Stupid Fox.
P.S. Andy Richter controls the Universe (named in the beginning) was a great show.

If I'm correct, in the beginning scene, they mentioned almost every show that's been canceled on Fox since Family Guy was canceled/began(not sure which). The thing that stuck out at me was that I didn't hear them mention Futurama. Is this a hint to a possible return?

Also, the episode was more or less an average one. I watched it only because I wasn't interested in watching Law and Order and my brother was watching it.

That was the reson I checked this board today, to see if I just missed it or if they didn't actually say it.  But I can only hope that it is because there is a chance of it coming back.  Now seems like the perfect time to start violent protests to get Futurama back on the air .

Family did do better than AD, I liked the GIJoe referance and the 3D part (Family Guy never seems to have much 3D, while Futurama has a lot...). I would give it an A-.

I think all the shows that Peter listed were ones that got cancelled with only one season.  It didn't matter if they were good or not, he was just pointing out how Fox brings on all these shows and then drops them like no tommorow.
Thats why he mentioned some good shows like Andy Richter, and it's also why Futurama wasn't mentioned, it lasted at least four seasons.

Nasty Pasty, stop making off-topic posts.   :p

There's a good reason that Futurama wasn't mentioned.  It was a list of cancelled shows.  Futurama was never cancelled; it's on hiatus.

i liked the bam-zap straight to the moon part. The "turned up side down face" bit. And when Brian rubs his arse all over the carpet. Sorry for the random and structureless previous few sentences. I thought it was a good episode.

Bam-zap straight to the moon?! That's a quote from The Series Has Landed! Is Seth getting in on the Futurama references now, or am I just imagining things?
