Deep brown voice? Did i hear that wrong or did i just miss the joke or is Zap just moronic?

I read somewhere that it started out as coca-cola, but some stations wouldn't play the song because of its reference to a name brand. So they changed it to good ol' generic cherry cola.

Do any of you realise that the legendary kinks have been violated by allowing a thickie like Zap Brannigan to molest that classic song??

Or are my tastes in music far older than my age. (Under 20, I promise you all).
