no, i don't think i have or will ever see spiked red hair in real life. and fry is pretty much the best character on the show.

The strange thing about Fry is that he is probably one of the weaker characters in the show. But as was sugested earlier 'NO FRY = NO FUTURAMA' he is essentially the pivotal character of the show. It is unfortunate that in many ways he is overshadowed by the likes of Bender and Leela who are both far more substantial individuals. Of course arguably this is deliberate on the part of the writers, Fry is the little 20th century guy in the midst of the awesome 31st century.
In some ways I reckon for those who have seen 'RED DWARF' the original UK version. That Fry is probably akin to red dwarfs Dave Lister Character, again arguably the Pivotal role in this series. Dave lister is a lazy rebel without a cause character, in many ways similair to Fry, likewise he has a robot companion, Kryten, albeit not in the first two series. The dynamics between him and the robot are different though as Kryten is an ultra moralistic character who often comes into conflict with Daves devil may care attitude. I think Fry is too passive most of the time to get into any real conflict with Bender or any of the other characters for that matter!

Eh, as much as I love Fry as a character, I don't ever see myself harboring some sort of fan crush on him.  He'd need to be a bit smarter and more hygenic for me to get to that point.
