Bender's too clever to be Homer, and all Zoidberg has in common is constant hunger.

Hey, leave off. English is his second language. I bet your Norwegian is a lot worse than his English.

Homer is not really original. He's just dumb.

Sorry Kryten. I didn't know that. I've seen so many young Americans with even worse knowledge of English on Simpson boards that I just assumed. Sorry Fenris. My mistake.

Thinking about some little things, like lazyness or hunger you think Bender or Fry or Zoidy have much in common with Homer, but watching the show you discover they are veeeeeeeery different

Bender + Zoidberg + Fry = Maybe Homer.
They are all a little Homer Simpson.

Zoidberg - Hunger
Bender - Drinking beer
Fry - Be so stupid

Yeah, noticed that too.
I learned english by 1)going to school (not really useful for 'real life'), 2)playing computer games like the old Infocom text-adventures and 3)reading a lot of english books (and comics).
And even though i've never been to any country where they speak english natively i sometimes think my english is better than some american's/english' - and i'm german

Zoidberg is a goofy crustacean and bender is a cigar smoking robot...what could those two possible have in common with homer (besides bender's profound swearing and alcoholism)  :p

Maybe Zoidberg is the one everybody stamps on and that kind of goes for homer, too?

homer is just plain and simply clumsy...
Bender is a loudmouth sort of person and Zoidberg is...uhm...too unhumanlike

homer likes lobsters (remember that episode with pincy?), so homer surely would like zoidy. and of course homer would like bender for some reasons (drinking beer, watching "all my circiuts&quot ;).

I voted no, there are of course certain similarities, but I expect, no more so than for other characters. All three are good characters though, especially Bender and Homer.

All three are like Homer in their own way.  Bender is like Homer because he's addicted to beer, Fry is Homer-like because he's dumb, and Zoidberg is much like Homer because he's a buffoon.

Bender and Zoidberg are like Homer in that they all have the same shaped head.

I am shocked it took twelve and a half years for someone to point that out.

I once read a criticism aimed at Futurama for lazy writing/characters by just using two Homers:
Fry the nice/dumb/selfless Homer, and Bender the asshole/selfish/jerkish Homer.

I do not completely share this PoV, but must admit there is quite a grain of truth to it.
