I'm surprised no one started a post for these two...

Despite their three meager appearences, the Turangas (aka Leela's Mom and Dad  :D )are some of the funniest characters from season four, or the whole show. Discuss.

Morris cracks me up...his whole role in TMLH is fantastic. I wish my dad would let me have some tequila with a silly straw.

All Right! I'm a delivery boy! Huzzah! Let's all have some tequila to celebrate!

A lot of people hate them surprisingly. I adore them. I love that Morris laughs at his own jokes and that Munda always wears that little bracelet. You never see Leela wear it again but Munda always has it. And i also love Munda's cat. She was just soooo cute in LTH, pawing at Munda to get her attention during the phone conversation. And did you see the snake she has as a tail? Mutant cats rock!

I like Morris.Very funny espacially this line:
Fry:"I come and visit when I'm grown up.
Leela(whispering):"Bring Beer."
Morris:"No beer untill you finish your Teqela!"  :laff:   :laff:   :laff:

"Who cares Leela? It was just a public school."

This was undeniably the best line ever.

Leela: "You can't tell anyone"
Morris: "What if I've had a few?"
Leela: "Dad, you drink?!?"  :laff:

Ha! Take that Leela's romanticised vision of her parents! They aren't the funniest of characters, but I like them, if only for that bit (though there are others too).

I liked both of them very much in "Teenage Leela Mutant Leela's Hurddles", but the less said about their characterization in "Less Than Hero" the better. "Leela's Homeworld" was decent, a bit too dark and lacking in jokes.

I agree with Teral. I think that once they shook off the whole "Leela's ashamed of us" motif that was, unfortunately, a big driving force in Less Than Hero, they started to become much more interesting characters. I particularly enjoyed Morris' characterisation in Teenage Mutant Leela's Hurdles. "Can't I just beat up the kid? Heh heh heh."  :D

Morris is very funny, but Munda reminds me too much of my Grandma to entertain me. The resemblance is creepy. You know.. sans tentacles. Or...?

To me, they're mutant versions of my parents in about ten years' time...only I like them

I love everything Morris and Munda say. Espescially Morris. But I can't seem to concentrate on what he says unless I close my eyes or something, because his mouth and the way it opens side to side like that looks so weird/cool...

4th seasonīs episodes with them felt basically like introduction of their relationship with Leela...Too bad, since it was very potentional.

I think all the episodes they've been in have been mentioned in this thread, but, in addition to those two, they had fairly significant roles in "Less Than Hero," and appeared without speaking in "I Second That Emotion."  (Actually, I didn't notice them in the latter, but plenty of other people have.)

Out of curiosity, who here saw the Turangas in "I Second That Emotion" when it originally aired and believed that they actually were Leela's parents, before it was confirmed in "Leela's Homeworld?"

I unfortunatly never saw that ep on tv. When I first saw it on DVD, I royally pissed my friend off becuase I'd play, rewind and pause and be like.. WTF?!?!? My friend then pointed out the fact that they were infact leela's parents, and made Leela's Homeworld less impactful. My friend was and is a bastard. Also the DVD commentary points it out too.. bastards.

.. Best morris quote was the "Not till you finish your Tequilla!", also the road cone site gag was pretty funny too.

If you think about it you really didn't lose any impact for Leela's Homeworld, cause the fact that she's a mutant is reveiled very early in the ep and it's mostly just Leela playing catch-up.

I think Leela's mum and dad are great. Her dad reminds me of my dad to an extent. The laughing at his own jokes part definately  ;)

I didn't notice Morris and Munda in "I second that emotion" till after Leela's homeworld.

I think they are great characters aswell especially Morris, he could have had so many more jokes had he been in more episodes.

I suppose many fans donīt like them simply for reason of their explenation of Leelaīs past. In fact, surely, there are plenty of plots on "alien" option but what would be possibly interesting about being sewer mutant?

It's ironic- whooooooo!
No, it's just not what Leela and others assumed, she had been searching for years in the opposite direction.

And for real Morris fans, do you know the name of the tequila he drinks?

I always thought that Morris and Munda were quite funny characters. I never got annoyed by them in LTH as some people did, although I would agree that they were at their best in TMLH.

"...the Turangas (aka Leela's Mom and Dad)..." said by shauker, isn't leela's last name leela, so really her parents names are munda and morris leela, and not munda and morris toranga, cause toranga is leela's first name, so it's toranga, munda, and morris leela,

Nope, mutant names are in the reverse order from normal American names.  In this case, the family name is Turanga, and the known members are Turanga Morris, Turanga Munda, and Turanga Leela.

Something more-In fact how we can truly judge them if we saw three episodes from different writers (Kristin Gore, Ron Weiner, Jeff Westbrook) and only the last one made them funny/enjoyable?

They weren't that bad in "Less that Hero", but Leela was such a whiner. Good thing she was hot.

Rhodan- FOUR episodes...Teral was already on my ass about that  :)
